- Hi friends! Today we are starting a whole house decluttering marathon. Over the years I have accumulated routines and things that are no longer serving me or the wellbeing of my home. So today, we are starting the journey of decluttering, cleaning and putting in new systems, routines and habits around the house that make living much easier for our family of four! One major thing that I wanted to change was the visibility of our food. I love to cook and there is nothing worst than realizing you are out of a staple ingredient half way through cooking. Today I am going to remove everyone and restock products that I use a lot and get this kitchen organized for many many fall cooking videos! Enjoy, and subscribe!
Enchilada Soup 🍜
Ingredients
½ teaspoon EACH: smoked paprika, chili powder, mustard powder, garlic powder and cumin
1 pinch EACH: cinnamon, cayenne pepper
1 tablespoon butter
1 diced yellow onion
1 diced jalapeno pepper
3 minced cloves garlic
2-3 chopped up boneless skinless chicken breasts
4 cups chicken broth
10 oz. red enchilada sauce
10 oz. diced tomatoes with green chilies, undrained
15 oz. black beans, drained and rinsed
15 oz. canned whole kernel corn, drained
1 teaspoon of Tabasco Chipotle sauce
4 tablespoons of whipped cream cheese
1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
1 cup Monterey Jack cheese
Garnish with Sour Cream + Cilantro
Directions:
On Medium heat, melt butter in large soup pot. Add the onions, garlic and jalapeños, and cook for about 1 minute.
Add Chicken to the pot, season with salt and pepper. Then add chicken broth, enchilada sauce, tomatoes, beans, corn, seasonings and stir. Let this cook for 20 minutes. (Cook on med, don't let the soup boil)
Remove the chicken and shred it, return to the pot and stir in the cream cheese until combined, then stir in the shredded cheese until melted.
Taste and add any additional seasonings as needed, then serve!

My pantry hack is: No Back Stock! It just takes up space and promotes expiration. When the last tomato soup is gone - then I add it to my grocery list!

I’m like you, I like planning ahead for Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. It helps keep stress away and the holidays more enjoyable. I already know what my kids are going to be for Halloween, already talked to my husband about Thanksgiving and have a menu set, and already started Christmas gift list started. I don’t like being one who procrastinates and then have a bad attitude because I couldn’t get my life together.

Here on our 80 aces in WI, we raise our own beef, so in the fall & winter I love to make pot roast in the oven, put it on low temp and let it bake all day. It smells wonderful and they are large so we have sandwiches for days, also. I make soup out of the meat sometimes, too.

I absolutely love your videos! During the fall/winter our biggest request is always taco soup! We can make it as mild or as spicy as we want and it’s amazing as leftovers!

Turned out great. I love your walk in pantry, always wanted one, but I’m happy with the closet style I have. I’ve never had an actual pantry until 3 years ago. Everything just went in the cabinets in my previous homes. Love your channel.

OMG I love decluttering videos! Look at the money you can SAVE by knowing what you have already. You certainly prep for the bad days though, although I don't have four kids so you may need all that food on hand. Bravo regardless!!!

You are the first person I watch that has a highly functioning pantry. I have a butler pantry and one wall is shelving like yours. I line up all my canned goods and label the front of the shelf. I too have the storage containers and I love seeing what I have. So many pantries are esthetically pleasing but I like to see what I’ve got so I can rotate as well. I love your pantry. Life is so good when we’re organized.
Soups for fall are broccoli cheese, carrot chowder, potato soup, breakfast casserole, yummy or funeral potatoes, and warm sourdough bread with some soups. I’m from Santa Rosa and I love the cool mornings when the fog is burning off the coast.

Cleared out my kitchen cupboards this bank holiday weekend! (I’m UK based) and it is so satisfying when it’s done.
I’ve already made my first stew of the autumn season, I adore this season’s food, it’s so wholesome and comforting. I always love one-pot cooking like stews, casseroles, that sort of thing. As a vegetarian, you can make super healthy and filling meals with that style of cooking.
I completely understand having to plan your furniture around fitting in the Christmas tree! That is a very important thing to plan for!

I have 3 go-to recipes I make in the Fall. My grandmother passed down her spaghetti sauce recipe, and I have it memorized now, I've made it so many times! I'm in Ohio--Go Bucks!--our first game is 8/31--the weather is still too hot, but once it cools down, I will make a huge batch of sauce for freezing and giving away. I also make a big pot of chili, and then bean soup! My husband has his own recipe for vegetable soup, and although I don't make it to freeze, I also have a great potato soup recipe from grandma I make fairly often in the fall and winter months.
Hi Lauren! Omy gosh I love watching you when I'm so sick as I am now. You are doing what I would be doing right now. I mean I would've already had all the Fall stuff up, but I am so very sick. It may be over two weeks before I am better, so instead of sitting here feeling sad, looking at the giant mess in this house that needs cleaned, I figured I'd just watch you, cause I know the mess will still be there for me to clean when I get well. Soup looks amazing, I'm vegan so I would add extra beans. I do love thick soups for fall. Also agree it's nice to be able to see pantry contents, yours looks great!
I can’t handle not seeing what’s in my pantry either!! It drives me nuts when I buy things thinking I need them then find out I already had those exact things crammed in the back of my pantry! My best advice about pantries and food storage is to keep trying different storage methods until you find one (or two or 12) that ensure that you know what you have before you buy more. If we all live that way, just imagine how much we could reduce food waste!!

My family loves for me to make homemade chili, vegetable soup, chicken and noodles and pumpkin cake.
I gave up the Pinterest, glorified overstocked pantry with organizers early this year. It works so much better for me. I no longer buy duplicates of things!

No pantry in our home, I have extra foods on shelves in the basement. I make Pot Roast, Stroganoff, Chicken stir fry. North Idaho cools down late September until May. We are currently remodeling our kitchen, Instant Pot is our friend, lol. Love your Videos ❤
I have pantry envy!!! We recently moved across country. I left the biggest pantry ever to a small closet 😞😞😞 I cook almost every night also and have been on a constant journey trying to make it work. We are also living through some small renovations and hopefully, after phase two, I will have better organization! ❤
I’m like you with the pantry…wanted to do the “beautiful pantry”, but also have 4 kids and that just isn’t real life. We are now living with a functional pantry that makes sense. Looks quite similar to what you’ve done now where I can see what I have so I’m not buying unnecessary items. Love your channel ❤️

OMG!! I do the same thing and wear gloves when cutting jalapeños. Even then it seems whenever I deal with them I get it on my fingers and then touch my eyes or my mouth! NEVER FAILS!!
My pantry is separated by can goods in one area. Savory ingredients, baking items together. Finally boxed and or dry goods together. I appreciate when you share your ideas.

I’m like you, I cook elaborate recipes. The more ingredients in a recipe, the more likely I am to attempt it. I absolutely have no room in my tiny kitchen and non existent pantry :(

Love your pantry! I am really interested in your chili lasagna recipe. Sounds delicious for fall. My favorite fall comfort recipe is pasta fagioli with lots of Parmesan cheese and crusty bread. So yummy!

It is always so nice to have a clean pantry! I don't have a "pantry" per se! I have cabinets that I use, but I try to have like items together. I found that having dark bins keeps me from seeing what I have, I prefer clear, or like you, I don't use any at all! your soup looked fantastic! thanks for sharing! xoxo

Lauren this a great video .I organized my pantry and put all my beans, oastas, baking needs all in madon jars from gallon jars, quarts and pint jars ..got rid of all the plastic bottles, jars and bags..I find theboakstic containers makesnthe beans, etc take on a smell..just my go to organizing essentials

We love our Costco for our family of 5. Our pantry is overflowing at this point as we just got back from Costco this evening. We typically go twice a month sometimes 3 times because we also get our cat food there we have 5 kittens and 2 adult cats. You will love buying in bulk especially detergents Paper towels toilet paper snacks for kids come individually packed in big boxes, totally awesome 😊we typically have neighbors kids after school who eat snacks here too so we have to keep extra. I love how your pantry turned out. I’m not a big fan of sweet, I love different cheeses, fruits and seaweed. My kids and I loveeeeeeee seaweed 😂
I love to use clear lazy Susan’s for my oils and vinegars, hot sauces.
The ones I use have high sides so the bottles don’t fall over.
I even have one in my fridge for condiments.

Your pantry turned out perfectly! I have to see everything in my pantry as well. I use a lot of clear acrylic bins and clear acrylic lazy susan/turntables. It really helps me when making my grocery list and cooking dinner to be able to see everything. Take care Lauren!
I made two big batches of chicken stock, turned one into chicken noodle soup and made leek, fennel and potato soup this past weekend!

Lauren, how you just did your pantry is how I keep mine, although mine is not a walk in pantry, instead sliding doors and shelves, but I can see exactly everything we have and I use, and in our basement I keep a back up pantry. I decant cereals etc in clear containers as you do too. I can't wait to see your living room without one of the couches, smart!

What a great clean-out !! During cooler weather my favorite dish to make is chili con carne using at least 4 different kinds of beans !
Beautifully organised. I do the same thing I try a system and if it doesn’t work for me and the family I change it up. 😍
I have my items stacked in rows like the grocery store. I have a few clear containers for flour, sugar etc, then a few clear bins for smaller seasoning packets. This has been the best for me so I can easily look and see what is low or what I am out of. I do the same thing in my laundry room and linen closets so I can quickly look and see if I need shampoo, soap, etc. I have small, clear labels with black lettering on the ends of the shelves for each row so I can quickly tell what should be there. It makes it so easy finding things and when it is time to make my shopping list.
I love Costco. They are starting a 4th location near us. I am very happy about the crowd reduction. They just added the 3rd location 3 years ago and you can’t even tell we have 3 within 25 miles. Every day, all day it’s packed. I don’t have a pantry in our new house and I miss it. I also think about Christmas 🎄 most of the year. I am excited for your fall videos.

I remember one month I kept buying Italian seasoning because I couldn't find it and when I cleaned out my spice cabinet I had 6 bottles 😂. We are finally getting a Costco here soon. So excited. We have a Sam's club but I think that Costco is better
