Fabulous natural talent from the pupil and elementally good tuition from Domingo who was perhaps at the height of his powers, at least in terms of natural strength vs the applied technique that accrues over a lifetime of assured and healthy singing. I hope the student took Domingo’s advice about covering the repeated F sharps more and went on to have a long career. The set up for the high A itself indeed felt too open, which he could ‘do’ as a young singer, but that facility would not have (could not have) lasted. It’s fascinating to compare the economy of Domingo demonstrating from a seated position, going from 0-100mph at lightening speed and achieving a fuller and richer sound with FAR less effort. I think he is so generous in his demonstrations in an attempt to show the student the vital need for that sort of economy and focussed effort that yields far better results in both the long and short term.

The second time that I watched this Master Class #4, I Noticed maestro Franco Iglesias seating on front row. I had the privilege of doing Concert and opera under his Direction in Mexico City in the Mid 70"s. Visited with Him in N.Y. once in the 80's and lost track of him after that. Do you keep in touch with Him?, I'd love to hear from you.

Acá se manifiesta su ego, saca a la pianista que está trabajando para tocar él, canta para demostrar que lo hace mejor que el alumno. Acosador sexual y ególatra insoportable. Es el que le dijo a una mujer que no quería tener relaciones con él que era Dios y no podía negarse. Evidentemente el arte no hace mejor a las personas.

Hasta el SI bemol es MARAVILLOSO. Y no todas las arias tiene un Do sobreagudo. A mi Placido es escena es el que me llega mas. Aun con sus "trucos"...
