An excellent video Jayne but very heartbreaking and distressing not only for Broyony but all the other residents losing their homes in this way. Found it especially upsetting to see the digger ripping out family possessions with all their memories 😢

    Heartbreaking but beautifully made video.
I have pictures and video,s of holidays my wife and I have enjoyed from 1985 to 2001 having a cuppa and a piece of chocolate cake at The Cliffe House Tea Rooms which you showed being demolished happy memories.

Thank you ...Yes indeed ,happy memories . The speed of erosion is now frightening . See latest Hemsby news

Beautiful video. I can see some of the attraction of living there in the summer but if you appreciate nature that means acknowledging the power of the sea.

Thank you Pauline .Yes I fear its a lost cause . Did you see the Hemsby problems last week after a
stormy night . Building should never have been allowed on sand dunes..habitats that are always in a state of flux. Happisburgh is both sea erosion and slumpage from the underground water courses.

I ve read about this lady before. Must be devastating to watch your home being bulldozed. Did she find a nice home eventually ?

The Lady in question got some Money because of the pathfinder scheme which she bought another House 50 Yards away from her original Home 🙄.
Her next door neighbours recently had their House valued at £135,000 but when they bought it the House was £350,000 !.
The erosion there is on a Amazing level but it is not just Happisburgh that is eroding quicker than expected, just down the Road ( Beach ) in Hemsby they have lost a substantial amount of Land and Homes, there used to be 3 Large Dunes and now there is not even 1/2 !!.
The next big storm and when that part of the dune is gone the Town will be open to the Sea , the Town is slightly higher elevation but not much so nobody knows what will happen ?.
The problem people are facing in Bacton,Walcott,Happisburgh and Hemsby is Insurance or the lack of it ! House prices have slumped and it is going to get worse because if they do something about the Sea Defences at Walcott or Happisburgh it has a knock on effect around the Coast…. You are talking about Billions for Infrastructure that might only last 10 years or possibly even less

Unfortunately as far as I can see the issue is as long as coastal erosion all along the east coast doesn't affect anybody who is in a position of local authority ie members of GYBC for example then nothing will be done citing capital expenditure or local authority cutbacks etc.BUT to use someone elses phrase "when the effluent meets the affluent " and only then will something be done but by then it will be too late...

Why cant they just do the same as Sea Palling ?
