He's great at Muay Thai, but his ground game is trash. Knocks a lot of people on the ground and then doesn't know what to do. If he worked on submission moves, ground strikes etc, he'd go a lot further.
Khalil's a mid-tier fighter at best. Got a reputation as a killer by knocking out bums like Daukaus and Roberson, but pretty much gets his ass kicked against decent competition.
