  • There is nowhere more notorious in Buenos Aires than "Villa 31", the infamous shantytown/favela that was built right in the heart of the city. It lies right in between the Retiro bus and train stations, the largest transport hub of the capital. It's known for being a haven for criminals and all sorts of other dangers. But it was also the home of many immigrants from Argentina's neighbors - Peru, Bolivia, and Paraguay in particular. My original plan had been to go to the station and take a train to the north, but seeing Villa 31 just outside, I decided to take a little walk there and see if it was as bad as they say.

That is the most famous _villa_ (shanty town/slum) in Argentina because it's very close to Buenos Aires downtown/city center, but is not the most dangerous (far away from it), and in fact improved a lot in the last years. Even there are small tours to that shanty town.

@@muhammad3283 I don't know what is "economic" for you, but you can try in neighbourhoods like Boedo, Almagro, Parque Chacabuco, Villa Crespo, San Telmo, Caballito, Villa Urquiza, Parque Chas, Floresta... During the night you have to be a bit careful, especially in San Telmo, but in general that areas are fine and are not so expensive like other neighbourhoods where a lot of foreigners from first world countries go to live, like some parts of the city center or Palermo, Recoleta, Belgrano, Núñez, Puerto Madero, Colegiales, Coghlan...
And this talking about the city of Buenos Aires, because also there is the metropolitan area that surrounds the main city and is conformed by tens of satellite cities, and is bigger that the Buenos Aires city itself by far (12 M people vs 3 M people). The metropolitan area as a whole is poorer and more dangerous than the city of Buenos Aires, but is giant, therefore can change a lot between different areas in each city, in fact some places are safer than anyone in the city of Buenos Aires, and others are worst.

Dude, you just gained a new subscriber, just for having the balls to wave around a camera while filming inside Villa 31. Like many people said, it's not the most dangerous villa but it is the most famous just for being located where it is. I remember when I first saw it going on the highway right next to/above it, I was in awe. I moved to Argentina in 2009 after growing up in the states, South Florida specifically. I currently live in San Isidro close to one of the most famous villas of the northern zone of Buenos Aires, it's called La Cava, this isn't me recommending you to visit it though lol. Subúrbio is normally the outskirts of town, the undeveloped, the far and undesirable side. In America, suburban life is a safe, clean, exclusive, privileged type. Does that make sense? I've live in Buenos Aires most of my life and I've never seen a stray dog, much less a whole pack. If you see a dog wondering the streets alone it's probably lost, specially if it's wearing a collar. In those situations you should check for the owners phone in the tag if there's one or take the dog to the nearest vet shop (there's one every two blocks). If you notice behind of you there were at least two guys that showed some kind of concern for the poor dog, because it's not a common scene to see. Sadly, nobody took real action and tried to find the dog's owner.

@@SabbaticalTommy growing up in one of CABA neighbourhoods, about 15 min drive from downtown close to Liniers, I remember in my barrio constant “gangs” of stray dogs that use to terrorize any visitors they weren’t familiar with. They didn’t bother the people who lived there, and they kind of looked after the kids (when we were playing soccer in the street). They were fed by everyone in the 2 or 3 blocks they considered their territory and we all loved them. However, because of the living on the streets, health issues and accidents were the norm, so mostly they didn’t survive more than a couple years.

I lived in Cusco PE for 3 years, that style of food is called Chifa(Chinese Peruvian food) and they have those restaurants on nearly every street corner. It is very basic, and I always thought American Chinese food was a bit better. But when I got back to the states I missed it, it is cleaner and less greasy than American Chinese food. Peru also has a significant population of Asian-Peruvians living in Lima and a very popular former president was Japanese Peruvian. Buen video.
