    I've watched countless of your guys' videos, and I've went from shooting in the 120s to shooting right around 100, in around a month and a half. Thanks for all of your advice. Shot a 97 this week, which is my best score. Keep it up! Only been golfing for about 3 months, but I'm improving every outing.

    Honestly still quite helpful even though I'm not a beginner anymore. We can get so caught up in the small swing details sometimes that it's good to have a refresher course and get back to basics.

    One of the best tips I learned with around the green shots was to imagine tossing the ball under arm onto the green. That judgment of a weight of throw and the distance your arm would move to throw a ball onto the green is roughly the same as your follow through would be and as said in the video your swing and follow through should be about the same distance either side of the ball. Its a little trick I've always used and its a pretty good judge of swing.

    After a horrid day of chipping folly I viewed this video the following day per chance. There are so many fine points in this video. The presentation makes it easy to understand. Without even practicing any of it yet, I now have a complete agenda of what to work on. Thank you so much for the clarifications. Cant' wait to implement everything!

    I grew up playing golf and I used to play competitively when I was younger but I stopped when I went to university. I've really missed the game a lot lately, so I played a few rounds at random courses the other week, and luckily my long game is still fairly decent (pretty good considering it's been 10 years), but my short game was shockingly bad. i.e. I got on the greens in regulation for most holes and then ended up 6+ over par at best, lol.
    Hopefully, I'll see some improvement this weekend after watching a few of your videos :) I'm very excited to get back into the game.

    Hey Guys, Great job with the videos. The graphics really bring it all together in explaining what you are trying to convey. I started golfing with my wife and 3 boys just 4 months ago. Your beginner videos have really given me the confidence to try out new things and to correct some issues that have come up as we learn the sport. I'm afraid that if you do a video analysis of my swing, you may not have time enough to correct all of the issues... but if it happens :)))) ... Thanks!

    7 iron or 8 iron around the green. Hit the ball as if you were putting it. The key is to keep it low and let it run to the cup. Best to leave the l wedge for the bunkers!

    I'm pretty decent from around the green like this, but I've found whenever I chip using my PW, I always get the ball to check up and it never quite rolls out as much as I'd like. Like this distance in this video, I'd have to fly the ball at least halfway to the hole with my PW, because I unintentionally create so much spin that it will hop, check up, and roll out very slightly.

    A question around ball positioning. A clip from Phil Michelson he seems to swear that the ball should not be in the middle of stance but either your front or back foot when chipping to control flight. All other points he is aligned with you. The clip specifically relates to chipping also. Just want to get your thoughts on that?

    Hey Guys, my short shots are my achilles!!! It is very hard for me to pace the swing, I swing back slow but coming down I speed up, treating the shot almost like a regular iron shot. What drill can I do to get better at my short game?

    • @Szczepanski91
      @Szczepanski91 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ricardo Ramirez arms should be a triangle shape. Keep knees locked and bend knee inwards to make sure you are staying on correct level. Takes practice. You won't learn this down the range. Go to a golf course and drop 10 balls around the green to get used to the feel of chipping

  • @JB-sz4wy

    One of the things you can do if you cant get to a real golf course is play golf games online. It isnt the same thing dont get me wrong although a lot of people learn about the scoring in a game or how to understand it for real this way for the first time. Also the games you do have to use your visual processes to know where you are going to position and how far and at what angle to go shoot the ball. So it is working your visual and brain processes that way a bit for sure. Its sort of like billiards in that sense. So try Mini Putt golf online one and two. The first level is a 48 par one and if you do it more than once you can get your score down to 43 or I did although going lower is not easy or doable at all. The second level is an actual 70 par and a good score for a beginner is 108 although I made a final 95 even though I failed one level at 10 shots which is the most you can do. 100 is the breaking point, below is considered a better score if not a reasonably good one. With those 70 or 72 par ones you will never make par as a final score, so never expect to do so, good real golfers can't even do it

      Piano Guy I am no pro but I had the same problem as you. I watch Peter Finch video on putting where he did 1000 putts. I didn't do 1000 putts but I did do 100 putts per day on my bedroom carpet for 14 days. I also used my kid's LEGO set to make a ruler (by colours) to help with my take away and follow through distance. It also help with my alignment. Once I am used to the alignment, I took the same ruler and drill to the putting once a week for 4 weeks. Ever since then, I seldom three putts (maybe once every 2 round and only when I am 20 + feet away). Try it and I sure it will help you. Putting is all feel. Find the drill at Peter Finch golf, he is a good friend of Me and My Golf.

    Can you explain why his left foot is further back when taking these shots? I thought the heels contributed to where the ball goes, therefore it should be going much further left?

    • @Szczepanski91
      @Szczepanski91 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Johnson playing the ball further back in stance won't affect direction of shot. It just affects the loft of the ball as you will be hitting the ball earlier in the downswing meaning you get underneath the ball more. Longer clubs should be played closer to your left foot (for right handed) or closer to your right (for left handed) it's all about distance control.

    I'm very new to golf, I would love to see a video on how to choose clubs. I haven't purchased a set yet, just use my dad's spare set but I have no clue where to start and don't want to take the cheap route. Don't want to drop $1000 either though... Most bang for my buck, I suppose... Just not sure how to determine that. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    • @christopherply8045
      @christopherply8045 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nate Drumms I was just in the same situation. After researching and looking around, I found that buying decent and forgiving used clubs is the best bang for the buck for a beginner. You can either go to a local golf store or look on eBay. I got a full set of pretty good used clubs and a new bag at a local golf store for around $450. It can be tempting to just buy a cheaper set, but they're typically going to be very low quality.

      Nate Drumms I bought the Wilson XD full set a couple months ago. I think they've treated me really well so far. I've played probably 20 games in that 2 or 3 month span. I drive about 175 yrds and always slice. But I recommend them

    • @dpardo74
      @dpardo74 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nate Drumms....this is what you do...Buy yourself a used set of quality clubs from 2nd swing.com or Callaway pre-owned. If you buy a boxed set (and I have purchased 3 sets in 10 yrs) the graphite shafts are usually of low quality and the driver, 3wood, or hybrids will break. Buy yourself a quality set of Pings or Callaway or another name brand from a few years back. I have included a link that will give you some insight on what to do.

      I agree with dpardo, callaway pre-owned is a great resource. You can buy two to three year old top of the line clubs for great prices. Their like New and level below are both amazing quality. Even their OK clubs are really good. Plus their return policy gives you a chance to try out the club at the range before deciding to keep them, as long as you don't damage the club.

    Why is a lower loft club more consistent? You stated that it is but not why. I find my lob wedge more consistent as any difference in power results in less change in distance. I, therefore, don't need such fine power control. I hope this makes sense.

      At slower speeds some golfers won't be hitting off the face of the club. There is a much better chance of poor contact/blading. With a 9i for example, even at the slowest speeds you will be able to get the ball rolling consistently. Preference is a big part too, some people are more comfortable with getting air on their chips. For everyone else, it is much more consistent to use less-lofted clubs.

      @@koda4247 Thanks that makes sense. It's not the good shots but the bad ones that will get closer.

    Now do it consistently out of some thick ass rough without flubbing or skulling it. That's what always kills me...

    • @Shipwreck15151
      @Shipwreck15151 7 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      SkinnedLynryd when playing out of thicker rough, you have to put the ball slightly further back in your stance (promoting a more downward strike) and accelerate through the shot. The bounce doesn't really work in thick rough because the club head gets caught up in the grass. Expect the ball to come out with less spin so more roll out.

    Your short game could be just as important as your long game

      More important, actually.
      There's an old saying that "golf is played from 100 yards in". Also, putting is about 40% of your shots.

      Found that as well but realised after a while that if I spent as much time in the park hitting chip shots as I spent at the range hitting it with my driver I would be much better. I feel like a lot of golfers are that way as well.

    Cheers for this, I been tryin to find out about "learning golf" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you heard people talk about - Keniden Benilliam Release - (should be on google have a look ) ? Ive heard some pretty good things about it and my neighbour got excellent results with it.
