Love it. There are a ton of creators who just play scrap mechanic on the rpg side but you are one of only two I have ever seen who takes the time to find realistic and intriguing things to build.

This is the content I CRAVE. Seriously. I've made a working diff vanilla using the small pipe pieces, they do skip some at higher speeds but I've gotten it to go pretty fast. Though I really want to see a working transmission. I'll have to download this mod ASAP.

Definitely! I like watching those older Ford videos that go over the basics of car parts. Modern transmissions have like a weird sheath gear that activates depending on the gear and I have no idea how to accomplish that lol. But gear ratios really are amazing.
i like your content and im not even a huge fan of mechanical stuff, you just make it enjoyable, i still enjoy the mechanical stuff too but i like to learn this stuff aswell

You can make vanilla gears from different items with different (sometimes uneven) collisions. There is a part that essentially acts like a cone, pretty rare with all the cubes and triangles around.
Try making a hovering monorail with magnets next. Also you deserve way more subscribers. Edit: will this be on the workshop?

I just used this mod today, took me an hour but I made a differential with no outsource help, except for the same picture provided, my friend had sent it to me. It was a very fun challenge, however my design was different!
I gotta go get this mod right now, that through bearing is amazing!

I use this mod and I created double wishbone suspension cars they too wide, I also made a transmission car with differential it's skips

this man aint realize there are vanilla ''through bearings'' and they are really simple to make no glitchwelding required. i can show u if u want

If you a referring to using pistons or suspension (because they have no collision) to allow something to rotate through a solid object, yes I am aware of that. That system would have worked for the wheels on the vehicle, but it would not have worked for the differential, at least not in the space I had.
If that isn't what you are referring to let me know! My point was, though, that I would like something intended, the suspension/piston route isn't really intended behavior. I think the modded solution is much more elegant, intuitive, and useful.

@@Oxynity you can do it in 1 block space but yeah didnt know you wanted it that much intended...
but maybe also make a piston engine for it, would be cool, although you might have to use some slight ''glitched parts'' for it. but yeah no problem!

Ive tried many realistic mechanisms in this game but this game doesnt do real life really well
I actually tried to do something similar in vanilla, unfortunately 4 pronged gears have a lot of play.

Once I tried to make kind-of real transmission in scrap mechanic using only vanilla stuff. I found a problem that if i wanted to have 1 to 2 gear ratio as a second speed i`d need to fuck all i`ve done and remade it all, i`ve done it and understood that it wasn`t working on reverse and 1 to 1 gear because the same problem as in the wideo where positions weren`t matching. I had only 2 porperly working gears btw, 8-teeth and 4-teeth gears so i decided that i`ll use mod. After some time messing around with this mod and pistons i understood that this ain`t gonna work cuz at my first test with 1 to 1 and revers 1 to 1 gear went f*ukin flying due pistons having problem with glitch-welded stuff (which is how those moded gears kind-of are made) , after all i decided to throw that idea because scrap mechanic just wouldn`t allow me to to a real transmission with it`s physics and proportions

@@Oxynity Yeah. Your doing this really well. I watched a video before i saw your sub count and assumed you had around 1 mil. The only complaint i can have over you is the video flow is off. Its a bit hard to watch you struggle with things (like teraria golf) but you fill it with interesting bits and mechanics like your no slip differential.
ik im a year late but you shoulda just subscribed to the blueprint collection they had lol, its much more easy than salvaging the display 😅

small tip: have some kind of pusher mechanism in the front because if you try to do make it move backwards with only wheels/steering and logic it will give you so many headaches

I have seen this a couple times, but I am avoiding making one because I feel it has been pretty over done. If you want to see that KAn and Reid Captain have great videos!
oh if u were trying to make a magnet engine ive made like 100 of those ive mastered the timing preety well ive reved them up to 6k rpm only problem with them is idealy u want like 300 rpm and magnet engines aint realy good at that so yeah my friend made a gearbox mod but its got some issues i can use it its just not ideal. and also ive made some differentials too and some magnet powered cars etc. im workin on a 6x6 truck thats has 3 gear trans and uses a magnet engine with a engine sound emulator,other then the gun. the only problem with the diff is that the gears slip TOO much, even the transmision to connect it didnt work for u cuz like i said their rpm is too cool for the gears to handle one way arround this is to use a thruster engine whych ive made plenty of too like one my big block i6 that reved up to 120 rpm whych is ideal for gears but the torque it made would probably be too much for the gears thats why i went to my stategy whych is my friends gearbox mod whych works very well exept the input can drive the output but if the output tries to drive the input it becomas a insane break and stops turning instantly because of how scrap mechanic is badly made like even the devs practicaly dont care about the game no more like they made this custom gamemode for the comunity aka the comunity will make stuff and they will get money from it they literaly havent made eny other updates for the past like 2 years. hope i didnt waste ur time, have a nice day. :).
