I did this flight 2 years ago, it's just unbelievable, the scenery is stunning, I stayed overnight in the hostel in Castlebay, local bus picks you up from the airport and takes you back, fantastic service, it truly is unique, that beach behind the airport is beautiful 🏴
Great video Dom with magic memories for me but bitter / sweet!! The day I flew there in November 2017 as I was boarding DHC6 at GLA got a phone call to say my mum had passed away but decided to carry on as she would have wanted me to... ❤❤❤
Had a holiday on Barra with aim to fly from the beach and my flight was cancelled with 15 minutes to go due to low cloud. It was the only flight cancelled that week so be prepared for disappointment as it arrives without notice
Gosh it’s weird to see Glasgow airport with people in this video, the last and only time I was there was on a Bristol to Glasgow flight in the summer of 2021 and when we flew into there (we flew out of Edinburgh on our return to Bristol) and arrivals was like a ghost town same with departures in Bristol.
What a special place, it's absolutely beautiful. Pristine, serene and untouched (well, barely touched!). Not only does the beach offer a really special way to arrive and depart, it also makes the most of the island's natural features without paving over parts of it with runways and taxiways. Looking forward to your next visit (my prediction is via the ferry, by the way, unless there's another way of getting there I haven't heard about!)
I was there last year with my partner. We didn't fly, we caught the ferry from Oban. It was a long journey. We stayed just a few miles up from the airport almost at the tip of the northern most point of the island. The beaches were fantastic. It did feel like we were in the Maldives. Sadly, we won't be going back as my partners friend who lives there is moving back to the mainland.
I for one would love to see a vlog from Stornaway in the north to Barra in the south using only public transport, ferries and a flight at either end in and out.
Nice to see Barra again😊. I went camping there for a week last May, which, looking at the café refurbishment, must have been around the time of your visit. Lovely island, camped not far from the airport but you were lucky not to have any wind! Took the boat out and the plane back 😊
Being from Aberdeen myself I wish Aberdeen had some of these kinda flights to the small islands around Scotland I know Aberdeen does flights to Shetland and wick but I feel they should do more to other small airports especially over the summer months. Just want to say fit like min another great video keep up the good work. Stuart from Aberdeen
100% agree with you. I've never understood why Aberdeen Airport doesn't have connection to at least stowaway even. Aberdeen man myself so good to see you here. Glad you liked the video 😁
A great vlog definitely on my bucket list and a twin otter of loganair and the special livery and to cap it all a lady pilot so everything in one flight and to get on G-HIAL is just sooper😊😊😊
Barra is gorgerous. I've been there many times aboard the Twotters, my favourite aircraft. Awesome beaches and lovely people. Last time I was there it was raining heavily atr Glasgow Airport but we landed at Barra in glorious sunshine. If you are there at the right time of year you may see Corncrake, a very distinctive bird whose Latin name (Crex Crex) sounds exactly like its call. Glad you liked Barra. It's awesome.
Cheers Dom, what a lovely super video & stunning place to go , I should point out, that I think I noticed you at Edinburgh Airport on Monday the 19 February going on one of your travels. Sorry I didn’t get to say hello! Love your videos & Scotland is my number one destination. I have family in Perth & Alyth! My two cousins! 👍
It certainly has been, my backlog at the moment is quite hectic, hence the long delay. It was nice meeting you on Barra and I trust your short trip went off well also? The water and the weather was just perfect we were truly lucky this day. 😁
What a fantastic trip. Expanded terminal at Barra so that they can hopefully operate a few more routes. Edinburgh and Aberdeen are obvious missing destinations. Looks like you had some decent weather. Tourists all decked out in Hawaiian shirts and swimming shorts, while our Dom treks up the beach in his winter woollies. I thought they made you Scots tougher than that!! Seriously though, that was an epic video and I really enjoyed it.
Oh They do make Scots that strong.........and cheap, I'm just that cheap that I'll wear all my clothes to avoid paying extra for checked luggage 🤣 Glad you liked the video.
You forgot to visit Castlebay.... a great village and world famous from the 1948 version of Whisky Galore (movie). The bus will take you the circular road around Barra... a great road. That if you had time to do it. I always arrive by ferry which btw should be on your bucketlist too. The ferry to Castlebay and the 200 miles bus up to Stornoway..and the 30 miles to Port Ness. My bucketlist. Maybe this summer. Great video !
My favourite Hebridean island is Vatersay which is connected to Barra with a causeway. If you ever go back to Barra, I highly recommend a journey to Vatersay. You won't find lots of shops or anything like that but you will find some stunning beaches - my favourite is the one that faces the Atlantic.
What an absolutely fantastic video on an amazing destination! One day, one day I'll make it to Barra but this'll quench my thirst for the time being 😅🏴
Wow, isn't it stunning??!! I've been wanting to do the Barra flight for years, but I've just had a look at flights for a possible spring visit, and a return flight from Glasgow to Barra is SO expensive! Not far short of double what you paid. A return flight from London (where I live) to Glasgow would cost a fraction of the price of the onward flight to Barra. Oh well, I'll just have to save up, I suppose! Cheers for the brilliant video. 😊
Excellent video. Cant believe though that the airport renovation is still going on, it used to have the BEST airport cafe in Scotland, the food and coffee etc were superb, now its vending machines unless a new cafe operator is found. Barra is a stunning Island.
I've had a few flights on Twin Otters mainly to the island of Flotta in the Orkneys. At the time the owners of the Flotta Oil Terminal (Occidental) ran a daily charter flight from Aberdeen to the island runway. I recall going with two of my colleagues who were both fairly "stout" one was climbing the aircraft steps and the other went to put a put on. " The steward shouted on him to stop, apparently there was a dnager the plane may have tipped over 😆
I am week behind sorry do double bill tonight 😊 the flight price I thought be well over £200 so nice supprise in price lognair doing this service awesome beach views glad nice sunny day 4u dom brilliant video thank you now onto your next one cheers 🍻
Thank you, genuinely thank you, though I'd love to say I was there are however much larger TH-camrs that do the same & similar as I do with much better quality and info. I am always looking to improve though. Glad you liked the video 😁
Please do not light fires or BBQs, as you say it is pristine Beach. Please keep it that way. LNT LEAVE NO TRACE of your visit for other people to enjoy the pristine beach.
There's a little bit too much of your face in the video. You're saying things like "just look at this - absolutely gorgeous" - and we don't see anything, just your face. Not sufficient for a thumbs up. Need to watch the competition.
I discovered this airport from a crazy documentary I was told about when I was like 15 I’m 32 now by my teacher called the boy who lived before. I’d never even heard of the island at first until I watched the documentary but some years later because I feel bad I almost forgot to check the doc out

Thank you for sharing your trip. Yes, you and I need our coffee!!😊
Nice Captain who is a nice lady is flying.😊
Nobody talking about the man's skill keeping the coffee in the cup at the start 😂
Had a holiday on Barra with aim to fly from the beach and my flight was cancelled with 15 minutes to go due to low cloud. It was the only flight cancelled that week so be prepared for disappointment as it arrives without notice
Great video. On my bucket list too! Thanks for sharing!
It is definitely one for anyone's bucket list! it was an amazing day out.
Great to know as a scot that we have a great achievement like this!
If you want to be totally amazed I also have a video of Bristol airport with people in it! Haha. But thanks for watching I hope you enjoyed it.
Loved the scenery and the wee blue plane. I definitely need to go to Barra…,its stunning 😍
Great film again, Dom 😊

There are a couple of other ways, but you'll have to wait to find out, got a ton of content to get through before then.
@@WorldWide_Dom ahh, had a feeling it couldn’t be that obvious 😁

They let you visit even if you don't know anyone. 😂😂😂
I for one would love to see a vlog from Stornaway in the north to Barra in the south using only public transport, ferries and a flight at either end in and out.
shhhhh 🤫
This is a flight I really want to do one day. The views there and back can’t be put into words. Great video!

Lived in Barra, always weird seeing it on youtube no matter how many times you see it
we called that tussock grass, its all over west scotland beaches.
Ah thanks for pointing that out, wasn't sure if it was grass or not 😅
Good stuff 👍🏻 Presumably on both turnrounds they give the aircraft a hosedown to get rid of the salt. Greaser landing back at GLA

It really doesn’t matter what someone is doing when it brings them joy!

Let us know if you're coming to Eriskay! We'll show you the sights.😊

Stunning views, great video as always Dom. Well done. Keep them coming. ✈️
Brilliant edit Dom!! A long time coming. That water was stunning wasn't it. Was nice chatting to you at Barra. All the best. Ian.
It certainly has been, my backlog at the moment is quite hectic, hence the long delay. It was nice meeting you on Barra and I trust your short trip went off well also? The water and the weather was just perfect we were truly lucky this day. 😁
Great video. This plane flies over my houae to and from Bara. Mabye one day I will make the trip

Another fantastic video. I honestly had no idea how picturesque Barra was. The novelty would definitely be the beach landing though!
100% The Isle of Barra really needs its own Video.

Tremendous stuff Dom. A truly unique experience.
I did this flight in February 2017, it should be on every avgeek’s bucket list. I loved every minute of it.
So nice looking. What a beautiful place 😍
I was asking about this video for months finally🎉🎉🎉. Nice video
Glad you liked it! 😁
What an absolutely fantastic video on an amazing destination! One day, one day I'll make it to Barra but this'll quench my thirst for the time being 😅🏴
Its such a good flight. You should definitely do it when you can. 😁

What a thrill to be landing on a beach !!!
I'd LOVE to take that flight.
The thought of walking off the plane ONTO a beach 😂 .
You 100% should, its a really great experience.

I was waiting for this video, it was time to explore Barra Airport and Loganair’s twin otter fleet
I have more videos on the twin otter with Loganair already filmed so do expect them in the next flew weeks.
Cracking wee video 🏴
Great video! I flew on a twin otter to the Isles of Scilly and it was great being about to see straight into the cockpit
Awesome video Dom. Please keep up the great videos. 👍
30K Views! Proud of you dude!
Thanks a lot! Hopefully things will grow as the videos get better 😁

Fantastic destination - I need to nip up the road and do that myself ...
You 100% should! Stay for a couple nights if you can, the island is much larger than i showed with a town on the other side of the island, Castlebay.
That's a sound I hear often over Glasgow, usually at three in the morning when the mail is coming and going.
Another top notch video!
Thank you, glad you liked it.
i wish they didnt stop Benbecula to Barra, used to happen here a lot, for some reason LoganAir stopped it
brilliant mate....I just bought my ticket
Thanks
Wow. Thank you Ian, it’s very much appreciated and will be put to good use in more content 😁 glad you liked the video
Bucket list, livery, bucket list, livery bucket list, livery
Checks time - 6 mins, oh ma hied
24:10 A wee close up of the creel would have been nice pal.
I am week behind sorry do double bill tonight 😊 the flight price I thought be well over £200 so nice supprise in price lognair doing this service awesome beach views glad nice sunny day 4u dom brilliant video thank you now onto your next one cheers 🍻
Are you allowed to camp and metal detect on that beach, ill catch a flight up in April for Easter....thanks, awesome video by the way!!!
Due to the fragile eco system Camping is allowed in certain places but metal detection generally isn't allowed on the islands.
I wonder if they wash the salt off after every flight
I have never seen a plane back out of a spot like it’s a car backing out of a parking space
The sea Is stunning
You're the undisputed King of REMOTE British travelogues! And coffee! HAHAHA!
Thank you, genuinely thank you, though I'd love to say I was there are however much larger TH-camrs that do the same & similar as I do with much better quality and info. I am always looking to improve though. Glad you liked the video 😁
1:59 mon the rangers

I want to do this now
You 100% should, its a great day out.

Bing maps has an OS layer so it actually better than Google Maps!
ExpensiveAir ye mean
Well nobody made you go there mate.
Please do not light fires or BBQs, as you say it is pristine Beach. Please keep it that way. LNT LEAVE NO TRACE of your visit for other people to enjoy the pristine beach.

Great video.....but 'beach, bucket list, livery' became a bit repetitive.
I discovered this airport from a crazy documentary I was told about when I was like 15 I’m 32 now by my teacher called the boy who lived before. I’d never even heard of the island at first until I watched the documentary but some years later because I feel bad I almost forgot to check the doc out
