During Khmer Rouge era (1975-1979) he was Defense Minister and Chief of inteligence, he created S-21 and he was the superior of Dutch, the leader of S-21. After Vietnam invade cambodia, he rebuild khmer rouge forces and he was even most wanted by Vietnam than Pol Pot. In 1997 Pol Pot was paranoid about Son Sen after many high members of khmer rouge deserted to Kingdom of Cambodia and he arrested Son Sen by charges of conspiration and make a coup and Pol Pot executed Son Sen and all of his family in 1997. Pol Pot made a mistake to kill Son Sen, his most loyal Men, because after this, General Tok, another khmer rouge member arrested pol pot and sentenced him prisión. 1 year after Pol Pot died and khmer rouge was dissolved
