This is the best chair makeover I've seen.
I'm about to do sanding similar chair but with the upholstered seat (that's embroidered beautiful). I like natural wood but I'm just freaking out of all sanding. I just might give it a go, seeing your results. Good job!

What a beautiful chair. Alot of muscle went into it but the results were so worthwhile. You did an amazing job. I just love it. Reminds me that I have an old wood chair in my shed it's got a painted black seat. Now I'm wondering what's underneath it. Hmm guess I have to get to work on it to find out. Love it, would the transfer slowly rub off from sitting on it, or is it worth clear varnishing? 🙂

I would varnish it if it would be used a decent amount.
