After turning to on.. then pressing the excellerator 5X then release..waited 7 secs then I pressed down on excellerator about 10 seconds or until Service Engine Soon light starts flashing..I didn't turn it back off. I got the Service Engine Soon light after changing spark plugs on my G37. I tried to clear the light with the accelerator pedal procedures. This process did not work. I removed the negative cable for 2 hours. The Service Engine Soon light was reset. The radio presets were NOT erased. The seat/instrument cluster settings were lost. I have a great mechanic I go to, he will hook up my car to their diagnostic tool to see what codes triggered the alert, but then he clears them, for free. The removing the negative battery connection worked like a charm. I’d say if the service engine light keeps coming on, then I would have it checked out, but if you clear it and it’s fine for months I’d prob not be too concerned.

Those instructions that told you how to reset the ECU by depressing the accelerator were wrong. You need to press it 5 times within 3 seconds, not 5 seconds. Then, wait for 7 seconds. Then press and hold the pedal for 10 seconds. Release the pedal and wait 10 seconds. Finally, press and hold again for 10 seconds. Turn ignition off, and ECU is reset.
Thanks this really helped me. My light came on after an oil change and changed both filters. I have not have any issues with GG except having to replace my serpentine belt and she has 132k miles on her. My service engine soon light came on once before and believe it or not after I tightened the gas cap it went off never came on again until now and that was in 2016. I hope this does the trick! So i have a question, i had to change the heater hose connector on my Infiniti g37 09 cause it was rusted. I replaced it and added the coolant so its filled up again. If i reset it how you explain and it stays on, does that mean there is still something wrong with it?

I believe the DMV can tell if you did this when you go for inspection within 150 miles or so of disconnecting the battery and they will not pass you. They will make you drive x amount of miles to make sure the service light stays off.
who tf goes to the dmv for inspections? All dmv's I've been to every employee has a stick up their behind. Go to some chill ass mechanic that wont care about certain aspects of the inspection.

Took a few tries for me but it worked, I think the reasonings for it not working in my prior tries is that u really have to do 5 full steps quick.

My SES light came on on my Infiniti m56x but have no error codes when I scanned it, came on after I changed the battery.
Also this works disconnecting negative terminal for 30 seconds the light will go away
