  • Here's a vid of my monstera vines, which I bought as new propogated babies from Landsdale Plants for $5, being transformed from plastic pot to concrete pot with a stake! They weren't the healthiest condition and needed repotting asap, so I decided to add a coir stake to the pot. Final product looks great for a fraction of the price at Bunnings. It was a fun activity and therapeutic. scuse the bad shots.. had to film one hand and plant with the other.
The reason for the pvc pipe is to avoid moisture touching the wooden pole of the coir post. i measured the height of the pot before cutting pvc pipe. The reason I used small pebbles I found in the yard was 1. to stabilise the post and pvc pipe and 2. it was free!
    Costs/items you need:
    Coir post/stake from Waldecks $8.99
    Concrete pot 25L Bunnings $25
    Dynamic potting mix 25L $8 ( I think )
Fertiliser to add to potting mix $5 ( but I already had some at home so $10)
Tuscan pebbles grey, about $10s worth of stones on top
    Pvc pipe $3 ( I think )
2x monstera swiss cheese vine $5 each
total about $75, could be cheaper if you skip pebbles and recycle a pot.
    Bunnings alternative: $99-120
    Have a go!
Also I'd do it when a plant is healthy and do it fast to avoid transplant shock
