Remind us the history , 1971 , an unforgettable song. I was a child of about 7 years , catching hands of my mother, looking for shelter under bushes, bamboo groves, long grass field, Pakistani bombing planes were above lower sky, fox stole some of our boiled rice but had no option other than eating that fox eaten rice ( which ordinary Bangalee family never do in normal condition)with 'kochu vorta', fire of Pakistani army was approaching towards our village, we were running catching my mother's hands..... Now I am 50, but can I forget those days? No No Nooooooooooooo
so?lets Cheers for Moushumi Voumik for remembering the people of Bangladesh and coming to our land for her extensive research of folk songs which may enrich her musical knowledge in future and may be we can find something related to Bangladesh from her in future as well!!!God bless u!
The point is, "Bangladesh" originally refers to the whole of Bengal and not just the Eastern pat of it. It's our misfortune that we could not stay together and thereby weakened ourselves.
Agreed! Bangladesh-er mongol hok, poshchimbongero bhalo hok; aar ei dhoroner gaan bajnar modhye diye du paarer bangali-r modhye interaction baruk, tara kachhakachhi asook. it was nice discusing things with you, best wishes to you too.
Jessor Road is part of our history. Bangladesh Apex Court recently passed an order to rename original Jessor Road again ( Zia Govt changed the name of Jessor Road as Khan A sabur Road, Razakar Sabur Khan was a blind supporter of Pakistan and re-established in Bagladesh politics by Ziaur Rahman after killing of Bangabandhu SK Mujib in 1975)
It's indeed a tragedy that the people who sacrificed so much for the subcontinent's struggle against the British would suffer so much after independence: first through partition and then during the East Pakistan era.
amra, bangladeshi ra, bangali ra, amder otit, amder tyag, amder gorbo, jotobar shuni gaan ta, mone koray day amr trish lak vai der kotha, koti manusher bijoyer kotha, amder nijer desh er jonmer kotha
Secondly, india is a land of many cultures and language; each having its own unique history, which stay politically unit to make themselves strong. West Bengal is a part of that union; it chose to remain with the Indian union because that ensured political and economic stability. Another thing to remember is that unlike Pakistan, India doesn't suppress the regional identities to enforce a "national" identity. That's why we are able to stay together and still maintain our diversity.
and conversely, we can say that Bangladesh belongs to us; for it was the east who demanded separation, not the west. So there's no point arguing on that. And as far as Farakka is concerned, the govt of BD should create pressure on the Indian Govt. and raise the issue to the UN to settle matters if they think that they're being unfairly treated.
Howeva u Finally agree with me that it was u guys the Kolkata people who prefar to be part of India ...rather forming an Independant Bangladesh during the partition...
i agree boss! the resistance was in west bengal just ten years of british invation as well but i know wht u r talking about but they took a lot of time to born never mind!! by the way u always by pass my point of Farrakka !!tell about that::
You clearly missed my point. I wasn't referring to 'east bengal' or 'west bengal' as separate entity. I said the Land of Bengal which compromises both east and west. Wasn't the land of bengal divided for the sake of Independent India and Pakistan? Didn't the people of Bengal suffer? If the land of Bengal became its own independent nation wouldn't they have sovereignty over it?

have you ever been to kolkata? how many Calcuttans have you known? How can you comment on the Bengaliness of Calcuttans or other people from West Bengal?
boss, kokata people were more close to British authority ,i know there is some protest against the division but the sad thing is i can give the refence of 'Khoabnama' by Akhtaruzzaman Ilias ,that the so called high society of kolkata didnt want to stay with the east bengal ,now give my answer,FARAKKA is in west bengal ,did any one protest against it,was there a single article in Anada Bazar bout the distress of it in BAngaladesh!!???,now China is going to build a dam and they become concern
"more" close to British authority? What about Binoy-Badol-Dinesh, Onushilon Somiti, Rashbehari Bose, Subhash Bose, CR Dash and so many others. Calcutta was in fact one of the major centres of both armed and non-violent resistance. "didn't want to" stay with East Bengal? Dada, please read about the anti Bango Bhanga Movement of 1906-10. Wasn't Tagore a Calcuttan too?
wel ur first part is really true and thats true for the whole India , we forget that the East India company came in bengal first ...however, "What did people of Bengal benefit from an independent Pakistan? Nothing! " it actually proves ur ignorance about the history and sovereignty is the benefit if u know what I mean
and how do u deny that Kolkata was the capital of the ? and regarding Tagore yes he is a Calcuttan too having his one home in the birth place of his Guru "Fakir Lalon Shah"!! You may forget someday tahts why we select the national anthem from Tagore not only to respect him but also to establish his faith and belonging for the soil and identity of 'Bangladesh'.
And who are these "Kolkata people"? FYI, half of them have their roots in East Bengal, their ancestors were forced to migrate in troubled times. Except for different geographical and political identities, West Bengal and Bangladesh are inseperable: they share the same cultural, historical and ethnic identities.
You're being silly, it's not like people of West bengal had a choice to be part of "Pakistan" or "India" If you want to blame anyone blame Congress, Nehru, Jinnah, and all other idiot politicians....For their selfish reasons our beautiful homeland got dvivided. What did people of Bengal benefit from an independent Pakistan? Nothing! Even the Bengali Muslims paid the price dearly... We should be proud and honor our bangali culture and heritage regardless of whether we are Muslims or Hindu...
I think need to research more ,in 71 the bengalies of west bengal did not support the east bengal .."Kalkata chole" is quite wrong...the Kolkata people forget that they once was Bengal, one of the nation which is divided by the invaders British.
ya and as "unfortunately' the eastern part holds the name Bangladesh so the western part of it belongs to her!!! but you bypass the point of Farakka again!!!search in the google u will know in 5 min..and why u r continuing without answering my main point Farakka?
infact apni eibareo question avoid korsen!! India onek decentralized ,west bengal has its own PM ,so my question was what people of west bengal did ragrding this! becasue the Farakka was built in a time when the war is just finished ! so? and regarding partition boss ,neither east nor west wanted partion but as u were teh capital of British u could do more thats what i am trying to convey
well India has bult dam not onlyakka but also Tista, Dhorola and in total six dam around BANGLADESH border,CM/PM eki kotha hoilo ,though its centrally controlled but there is some degree of decentyralization too,I dont expect that Kolkata people would burst out in protest against it because they are the primary gainer ,well I expected something from ur so called intellectual people when I came to know that now they ,the ANandabazar community is writing a lot regarding the Dam which China..
hahaha thats better !! u dont need to be specialist project management consultant or dam expert to know about Farakka which was built more than 30 years ago!!! so better know because its not a ational issue its a regional issue and i know when some one ask u where u from u tell I am an Indian not a bengali ya thats normal but the rivars dont have the nationality ,if u guys understand teh fact it would be better for us!! now China is going to build a dam ,so u become conscious !
boss i have been to kolkata and i have known some people but i am not stereotyping about the west bengal people through my known people but you think India has built the sucking Farakka in west bengla which dried up 1/3 rd of bangladesh !what Kolkata's intellectual people did?nothing!! so dont talk big !
is going to build at the source of Brammaputra ,so u guys are now writing that this dam will cause social, environ and other problems but you and in your land (WB) the same thing happened to ur once upon own blood but u remained silent ,thats the pain.... @ur 2nd point do research I dont know how u guys have that luxury to decide whom with ypou would stay at the time of division,it was a colonial flux ,
