LOL. Inclusivity was never the problem. Or diversity. Or equity. The problem was inaction, lack of involvement among everyone except the humans.
I just love (sarcasm alert) how so many of these stories try to piggyback DEI crap on what should be a simple clear cut problem.
And the authorities ALWAYS wait until the victim fights back.... and they make sure the victim is punished. Most school authorities are either passive towards bullying, or they encourage it tacitly... or even openly. Don't tell me I'm wrong. I saw it too many times as a schoolchild, as a high school student, and in college. See it in the workplace also to this day, where HR takes the role of the school authorities.
P.S. Yes I hate DEI nonsense. Meritocracy is the only way to do it right. That's obvious in sports. Should be obvious everywhere.
I love videos that depict humans as a species of virtue, power, and justice. I will never forget the jest of a quote in a sci-fi movie or TV series: "Humans have a special quality in forming communities, making enemies their allies."
I remember now, the quote came from the TV series "Babylon 5" by the character Londo. I added the "allies" part; Londo only mentioned "communities."

I had a bully in the third grade. My first day in school at recess she followed me around the schoolyard and every time i touched a bit of playground equipment she took it away. No problem i thought. I go somewhere else. But every piece of equipment she took away. Soon recess was over and we were standing in line to go back to class. She pushed in behind me and started punching me in the back. I asked her to stop but she smiled and hit harder. Finally i was hit hard and painful. ( Unfortunately i have a reaction when someone hurts me on purpose. It only takes a fraction of a second for me to know it was on purpose and i will erupt into berserker mode if it was on purpose. I try to control that) So the last punch hurt and i turned around so fast she wasn't expecting it. Before i knew it i had punched her in the nose and it started bleeding. She ran to tell the teacher that i had hit her for no reason. I got in trouble. But she never ever bullied me again. Instead she would beat up kindergartners. I never saw her anywhere near me.

I like this. But I noticed in the stories. Just me . They have a underline message . Thing happening in the here and now . That are happening in the world . Is worked into the story. Love it.

Probably not, Vulcan is a popular choice for planet names in sci-fi, firstly it's the name of an actual planet, secondly it's an awesome name, especially for a hot world.

Started out good until the "Let's form a protest part" and got outright disgusting at the "anti-bullying policies" garbage. That just makes everyone think like a victim, look at society now for proof.

Will worked for a 'more inclusive environment'? Inclusive..at an academy with thousands of alien species attending classes together? What the school needs is a safer environment that's free from bullying.

I hate bullies, but there will always be bullies. How can we stop people from being bullied? That is a question that we all have to ask ourselves is it environmental? Is it how our parents taught us or is it peer pressure?
None of the above. Well probably all of them a little but, but mostly it's genetic and ancient. Chimps, dogs, cats, all have bullies.
Human nature is the cause. You can see it clearly when young children start doing it instinctively without ever having been exposed to it.
There was this fascinating thing last century, where some jews who were migrating to Israel formed genuine communist communes, called kibbutz, with the aim of creating communities free of the evils of greed and inequality. The people there thought that their own children would all become kind people due to being raised in such an environment. But in reality, their children still started bullying and fighting each other and hoarding toys at an early age.
So the sad reality is, for us humans to have a utopia, it must include widespread surveillance and strict law enforcement, and both must be extremely transparent.
As a survivor of buying my self i really liked this story ❤
This is something that should not happen but i does all to frequently so yes this is a story that matters to me and many others that have been bullied

Will the Zorgon ever learn
Good story, a welcome change from endless stories of arrogant human students scaring classmates witless with details of growing up in a death world. Such stories are very repetitive, probably AI produced and predictable.
T this is much more enjoyable and touches on a serious problem in our schools.😮☆☆☆☆

I don't know where anyone gets the idea that humans are good and fight for the weak. Humans are the instigates of the bullying of others. Only a very few will help others, only because their parents told them to protect the ones that are weaker . I told my daughter and she told her own sons too . They did the right thing to protect those who couldn't defend themselves. I still do it today so does my family. But we're not the norm. Those that are like us are so rare and far and few. So don't lump all humans into a group of good people, we are not

When I came back I checked in at the local VFW and was told to get out and stay out. As I moved into the night I knew I was alone as I was as a reconnaissance pilot.
And then prylar broight a blaster to school and the zorgons never bullied again

Author do not differentiate violence and dumb talks. Talks can not hurt anyone. Fists and teeth do. And mixing diversity and inclusivity inside the coctail is ignorant. You may have 100% homogenous ONE COLOUR ONLY school brimming with bullying, you can even have a minority students bullying others. Authors woke misunderstanding of the topic is astonishing. Althoug storry was nicely written.
