    Bought the Audient iD4 MkII - works like a charm with my iPad Air 4 (Cubasis, Beatmaker etc.). In addition the mic input is way louder than the Steinberg URC22. Nicely done Audient ,-)

      if only the ID button on the id4 could be bound to Mono, or Dim/Mute, feels like audient is doing that thing like spotify, where they give you the product, but then show you something that is only unlockable as a premium feature for 70 more Euros

    I hope this doesn't pop and make weird noises like my audient ID22. I think there was a big forum post on gearslutz about it. I am hoping , if I were to get this, to have this interface last me longer than 3 years. My audient id22 lasted me only 3 years. No doubt, audient's sound quality was really good, while it lasted.
    Also for REFERENCE: This is the FIRST audient ID14 and ID4 MKII video review on TH-cam besides Audient''s official. People may look into this later down the years. Great stuff, Hop Pole Studios!

    • @musictracer8542

      If you compare the specs, yes, I am afraid there is an improvement in everything. Most of them are not significant (at least on paper), but some others like the headphone amp for example are quite advantageous. It seems to me like the SSL units hit the market very hard, so the other companies need to follow, as they lose clients. But no need to feel frustrated, I own the mk1 since it came out and I'm very happy with it. It's a decent piece of gear, I 'm sure it'll serve you well!

    Yay for USB 3! I was getting tired of these "USB-C" interfaces that were still 2.0. Up until now I think only Steinberg had true USB 3.1 (with the c connector of course), and they had enough power from that protocol to run dsp on their interfaces to sway the Apollo types (don't think their conversion is there yet though...). Well done Audient!

    • @ericolson326
      @ericolson326 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Is it USB 3, though? Audient's tech specs for the iD14 mk II seem to indicate they just updated it to have the same 2.0-in-C's-clothing as the iD44. "USB High Speed" (2.0), not "USB SuperSpeed" (3.0 and above).

    • @dejasoul1949
      @dejasoul1949 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ericolson326 I'd say so, considering that the ID14 lost it's power brick compared to the mk1. Running 2 hungry preamps off USB, points to that. I've no reason to doubt them, but as more reviews come in we'll really know.

    • @ericolson326
      @ericolson326 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@dejasoul1949 Yeah, no, it definitely takes advantage of the power supply available through the USB-C connection, he says so in the video. But C is a physical connection shape, not a data transfer protocol. The iD44 uses a C connection but only passes data at 2.0 rates. And the new 14 mk2 has roughly the same published latency specs as the 44. Trust me, I got excited by the idea of a 3.0 Audient too, but then realized they were just updating the 4 and 14 with the same existing chipset as the 44 -- bringing them into line with it, not leapfrogging it.

    • @ericolson326
      @ericolson326 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    thanks for the great review. It's quite a while old though.

    I use the Audio-Technica-2035 condenser in conjunction with an Audient ID14 (not mk II).
    The gain must already be turned up to 3/4, it's at the distance.
    Today I tested a Shure SM57 at the same position (~70cm).
    The gain has to be at 100% to hear anything in the recording at all. in addition I have a then FetHead in between.
    Now reduce the gain to 9, further back is still too quiet.
    Then it fits I think. Gain with FetHeat to 10 then clip it.

      @@adamsteelproducerIn the technical specification on the audient website "DSP MIXER LATENCY ROUND TRIP" is lower than in mk1. I thought latency was basic information about an interface. Introducing usb 3.0 and changing drivers has no effect on latency?

      It’s not usb 3.0, only the power draw, the drivers went up by 0.0.1 version as far as I know, and the DSP mixer is inside the unit and close to zero latency anyway. In practice the numbers didn’t change. This is a mk2 version of an existing product, not a whole new thing. I didn’t expect everything to change all at once

      @@adamsteelproducer Maybe I'm wrong but the audient probably said that it is usb 3.0 with a usb c plug?

      Then I understand the latency has not changed? Have you checked it? Thanks for the help.

      You’re reading the power requirements, not data transmission. Also usb3 isn’t any better for latency anyway because of its delivery system. The round trip latencies in reaper didn’t look any different to the older interfaces
