►About the Game -
BLACKOUT is a first-person survival horror video game developed by INNERVISION. The game is set inside a house in which terrible things have happened. You'll wander through the gloomy corridors, explore every dead room and get lost in endless mazes.
Storyline:
You are office worker. While working on last documents in your house you starting hearing strange sounds. You are pretty sure that you are alone there.
After going to wash up, you got a message on your computer from unknown user.
And after some time the lights suddenly went out.
The night begins...

I think the point is what Chris said in the office area: this man walks this slow because he doesn't like his work and that makes him feel depressed.
The explanation clould be this: you fell asleep in your office because you were doing extra hours and then, recieved a call for check out that thing of chemistry, when you were driving to there you were thinking about your shitty life and job. You didn't notice that girl through the mist. You killed her and never said anything, now is her revenge making lose your mind and remembering you what have you done
That makes a lot of sense. But does that make him guilty?

Having worked at a grocery store when the electric / backup failed and they couldn't get a cold truck for quite some time, I feel this pain. Tossing out cartload after cartload of room temperature meat is not great! :D At least the random exploding can of biscuits made things interesting.
Yeah, the house asset your seeing is called "HQ Retro Farmhouse" and funnily enough, this asset was created by the same person that created the well-known "HQ Residential House" asset that we seen so many indie games use.
i dont see the problem with devs using the assets, as long as they provide fun gameplay
@@georgeconstantinou1953 No disrespect to anyone developing but in my opinion it lacks creativity and originality.
@@georgeconstantinou1953 Never said it was, heck I use some of the same assets when I develop my games. Problem is when large part of indie developers don't bother try and create there own house layout and just use the deminstation level that the asset creator provides. Then the game doesn't have a full identity of its own, case and point if I took a screenshot from a random screenshot from any game that used the deminstartion level of the Residentual House asset, it isn't gonna be surprising that not a single person could guess which game that screenshot was taken from. And honestly it even makes any exploring in the game less interesting when the layout is pretty much the same layout you explored in a hundred games. Its pretty much the same issue I have with peoples over use of the Horror Engine, it doesn't matter if the game is solid made game, if you don't try and make changes to the assets, then your game just gonna feel the same like every other game that uses the assest and it just makes your game feel dull especally those that have played other games that use the same assets.
@@freewithnature well, i agree and disagree some people are very good with coding but lack modeling skills, or the opposite and if they cant find a partner to help them the asset store helps them get their job done, heck.. these games cost 1$-3$ a lot of youtubers get to make content/money and a lot of viewers like you and me get to enjoy the videos its a win win for everyone.
Yes originality is better, but if a good coder needs some assets to entertain us for 1-3$ its okay by me, if he asks for 7$-8$++ i expect AA quality and not indie.
As long as the dev doesnt just DOESNT throw the assets in a project and clicks compile im good.
@@georgeconstantinou1953 Thing about your argument is that assets like Residentual House and Retro Farmhouse are Modular, meaning they're design almost like a lego set so developers with no modeling skills can make what ever house layout they want useing the asset and as a developer that mostly codes and doesn't do much 3D modeling and instead use 3D model assets, there is no excuse for these developers not to try and create their own level layouts other then shear lazyness.

Even if the game is shit, I always leave you a like because you are so entertaining! Your laughter at the end was so contagious. Definitely the most underrated TH-camr ever. I started watching your channel because I am too scared to play these games myself and I am crap at them - my Steam library is full of pixelated 90's games like Monkey Island lol. Keep it up Chris, you are smashing :)

The first couple of jumpscares was okay.... and then I find myself groaning once you've reached that PT-esque hallway. Everything's as drabby as the main character and the best part really was your reaction at the ending. XD
Well... that ending was anticlimatic...
A common theme in these kinds of games. It's almost as if the people who develop them only get as far as apeing the concepts of jump scares, set-piece spooks, monster chases, and leaving notes about. That and overeliance on the crutch of the same, recycled, limited pool of free assets. Very few of them know much of anything about actually telling a story. Or even really developing a game.

allow me to illuminate: "wash up" is a colloquialism intended to infer a quick and cursory cleaning process, such as washing of the face, neck, and hands. "the bath" in that context is a reference to "the bathroom".

It's one of the fun things about this channel for an American is hearing the different ways that CJU says things. Rarely in Massachusetts do I hear someone shout: "Bugger Me!!"
This one managed to be super generic and all over the place at the same time, so kudos I guess... If felt more like unrelated sections stitched together than a real game, tbh. Plus what was up with the voice acting? It was somewhat decent in the 1st part of the game, but it sounds like they just didn't give a shit anymore in the last section. And there is no proper ending : are they hoping we'd want a sequel to this trainwreck? Was this a joke? Terrible indie game in my opinion.

Man, that ending was a worse twist than an M. Nyte movie. And just as confusing. as one, hehe. Love your content regardless of it being a bad game. You always make the bad ones entertaining. Have to say the bit in the forest/graveyard looked really good. However, it seriously felt like that was put together backwards. I feel like it should have started with the last part of him at work. Very strange game. Not really scary, just confusing. Parts felt like someone was on drugs when it was made. Now I can go watch yesterday's Village as I wasn't able to watch it. That's what I call dessert!

That has to be one of the dumbest examples of the 'locked door' trope thing in these kinds of games. It's literally your house, why would you have a locked door you can't open in it?

It went from haunted house then PT to another day at the office... WTH!? 1. the story needs to be finished and loop back to reconnect. 2.polish up the jump-scares 3. add some activity like running from something and puzzles etc. 4. From a scale of 1 to 10 , it started off like maybe a 5 but then went down... it needs to continue that same "vibe" and it could possibly finish out better.

I've been going through your channel and just enjoying 99% of your content, the 1% are games like this, not because of you, but because these games are HORENDOUS! This games was so bad, you can make up 5 different games with this one, The house, the second house, the weird dimension, the woods and then the office. every time i looked back at my screen, it was a new place with ZERO context of said place. It felt like I was watching that seen from Limitless when bradley coopers character is speeding though the days with that drug, the next place he ended up in made less sense than the last.
Regardless of this, your commentary, as always was on point.

This game is what happens after you spend 42 hours straight on your computer, eat 2 day old pizza and beer, and then finally fall asleep. I do like that it has a couple of good jumpscares, but other then that it's generic.
I was gonna say that this game was giving me a bit of Stories Untold vibes (minus the puzzles), but then it ended like that.

The horror genre suffers the most from asset flips and laziness. No other genre has memes like the HQ Residential House. Remember Ebola? Dev still denies the claims lol. The Fps genre is close second though

Had promise, but failed to deliver. It's like they took several games they liked and made mini levels for each of them. There was Layers of fear, SCP 87b, P.T...The locations were too disjointed, and the P.T. clone section was needless. If they made it a connected whole I think it would work better. And yeah, the ending was anticlimatic. I mean, it had its good parts. In the beginning section, I swear I thought something was in the unlit room with the fire, or that one of those sets of glowing switches would be eyes at some point.

I couldn't imagine that I could play horror games so much that I would be bored with the cliche parts of them. I'm always very stressed even when a seemingly normal game takes a turn towards the scary, like the last thief game.
