- I'm going to build a 2WD OLD SKOOL TRUCK! Holy smokes, lately I have been hooked playing "Mud Runner - a Spintires Game" on my XBox One X. It is one of my favourite simulation "off road trucking" games. The physics are great, and so is the deep, deep mud. The game also gives you the ability to choose older style of lumber trucks - such as ones similar to this KiNG KONG RC "CA10" Tractor Truck Kit!
"Asia Tees", (an online RC distributor), suggested I had a look at this kit. This is a the scale replica of the American International KR-11 heavy duty tractor from the 1940s. I am so excited for this build, becuase its completely unique and a new challenge for me!

"Background:
The 1:1 CA10 was originally based on the American International KR-11 which was supplied in great numbers to the Soviet Union during WOII. It is a scale replica of the KR-11 and subsequent versions that were designed based on the original KR-11. They were used as tractor trucks and used in construction in the 1940s. It has close resemblance of the Dodge WWII Powerwagon. The subsequent CA10 was primarily a military truck and they were also produced into various civilian variants, including ambulance buses, fuel trucks , water tankers , dump trucks, lift trucks, construction vehicles, and fire trucks."

As a builder of scale trail trucks, that are usually based off of 4x4, all locked, all the time differentials - the appeal of this truck is large for me. I am now going to see how challenging it is to drive a 2wd truck. Being able to replicate some of my experiences in Spintires, in "real life", although in 1:12th scale - is still going to be a lot of fun for me. I am also interested, becuase of the unique leaf sprung suspension, as well as the dually tire aspect of it.
I am still stuck on whether I will lock the back differential or not. I'm leaning towards locking it.. only to have SOME chance on the trail... Time will tell.

You should leave it unlocked with a heavy waight oil so it will nearly lock up in freezing wether and still have a little bit of give in warmer temps
Very cool looking truck, I'm really excited to see how this build progresses! I'm impressed by the scale detail of this kit. For awhile I've wanted to build a 2WD trail truck but I hesitate to spend a lot of time, effort and cash on a truck that can't compete in comps or keep up with other guys 4x4's on a tough trail. I think it would be cool to see more 2WD trucks or realistic transfer cases that allow for the option of 2WD or 4WD to be selected, It definitely would make for an added challenge and seems like a good option for more scale detailed/fragile vehicles that you want to have a good challenging drive, without having to take it over super abusive terrain.

Okay I'll forward you my address for my new truck Medic bahahaha. Nice looking rig, can't wait to see you get it built. Do yourself a favor especially if you plan on going out on wet days, paint the wood, it will stop it from rotting away. And below is a comment about painting it green and adding some aging like surface rust aka petina to it.
i have seen these trucks as a kid even got to drive one on the fields as a 12 year old kid. these truck would have had a open diff and a 3.0 liter straight six gasoline engine with a 4 speed. some military versions had a driven front axels. but most were rear dirve only. the real trucks had also a light bendy frame and fairly hard tires but with a load on would go great. the weight of the real truck were about 3800kg empty and about 6500 to 7000kg fully loaded.
Looks really good. It's got a lot of prebuilt parts not like the Tamiya Ford F-350 what I'm doing right now. Good video

Looks so great! Very Scale and realistic. Really like it. Performance is one thing, realistic scale trailing is another. Looks like a long build even only with one pre-assembled axle. That body is gonna take up some of your time. Good build. Hope we can follow along on every step. Thumbs up as usual :-)
Awesome truck Aaron! WOW, first ready made kit I have seen that interests me in a long time. Love the truck cab and gull wing hood. Love the box art too. The white powder is a real bonus -Party time!

That's a cool looking truck.
I also like using old cupcake pans to separate and put screws and small parts into for easy access .

you should try and get the PC version because there are downloadable extra vehicles like a rockracer

Oh man! I also played Spintires: MudRunner on my Xbox! Absolutely loved that game and had a lot of fun clearing all the achievements! :)
Also, I’m thinking about building some kind of 6x6 crawler inspired by the MudRunner game. Cross RC have a couple of cool kits I’m considering ;)
Awesome kit. The camel back leaf springs bring me nightmares! Torque on those type u-bolts in the real world can be over 1000 on. ft.! Can't wait to see the build and what you do for color scheme!
That truck is so cool. Reminds me of my Grandfather...Mudrunner is the best...needs Mods though...Lock nothing thats the way it was... Great fun! Not so much a crawler more of trail truck, just as much fun.

I do not know how many of your subscribers like build videos but I am one of them who really enjoy building stuff and also I like to watch how other people build things. I watch many RC channels in YT but I have to say that there are not many youtubers who are doing build videos. I used to build real scale mud crawlers and mud trucks but my health is as bad as yours right now. My back and legs are in a very bad condition. So now I am starting my RC building adventures. I am not that kind of person who buys kit and builds it. I rather like combain differend manufacture stuff and make my build unique. I ordered some stuff to start my mud crawler/special class mud truck build. But saddly my health takes a lot of money to get better so I cannot start building my rig just yet.
I ordered Blackwell X1 axles and for those axles I also ordered portals to lift the axle even higher. In steering I am going to use Capo cable steering, transmission will be 3 speed, body I will probably make myself.
Maybe you could reccomend some youtubers who are doing custom rock/mud crawler builds? I just cannot find any myself.
But I have to say that you really inspired me and your passion is the reason why I am starting my own RC journey.
PS: Maybe you could build something together with your wife. I like that she is also in RC´s. I watched her kit build series and it was fun to watch. Hope you find the time to d something together ;)

I really figured it was going to be a high dollar kit from watching you unbox all the parts. I’ll be very interested to hear your opinions on the build quality once you start assembling it.
That's what I like about RCSparks Studio,never a dull build! However to make it look like an old timey truck,I think I would paint the front and rear axle black. Anyway cool truck and can't wait to see how it turns out! Oh yeah watch out for that white powder!
I'd say give it a go without locked diff for fun at least for a few runs, and if I remember spintires right, the 2x4 had the option of chains in the rear.
It's easy enough, I built scale chains for my summit with a few lengths of different ornamental chain meant for hanging flower pots from. Straight chains in the back, angled steering chains for the front. Needed... Not really. But looks awesome and gives a lot of grip in mud.
And after the twisted stock axle and rear wheel drive summit debacle, I can tell you rear wheel drive RC is a awesomely different beast to trail with, and everyone should make their summit a rear wheel drive for a few runs. Here's to hoping someone makes a lockable diff for that CA10.

I like playing Spintires and I found this truck simply awesome; it is simple, it is basic and this kit is gorgeous. It combines 3D printed parts with metal, palstic and wood. I think this is going to be one AweSome project 👍👍
Spintires is awesome. Hope they bring some pc type mods into dlc for Xbox. This build looks awesome too. Love that it's only one driven Axle and those leaf springs are just like the real deal. Sweet build all around.
Bummer, I thought all the components in the foam where supposed to be metal, I want a heavy weight truck not light weight plastic, I am more into simulation, slow moving construction type rc's. Also, when this truck first came out it was actually pretty cheap (with shipping).

Oh no! Another kit I may have to look Into! LOL! Love the leaf springs.... please do a side by side with a Tamiya rig... I would love to see if any parts would be interchangeable.
Those leaf springs look great! One metal leaf and the rest plastic should move nice. And tuff call on the axle. Locked will help with traction but kill the turning radius. Maybe just max out the epa on the steering.
Nice truck, can't wait to see the build and or final version. Looks like a truck from photographs of my grandparents back in WW2 here in the Netherlands.
Finally medic ! An interesting and realistic project. I was really getting tired of those huge 4*4 truck that looks just ugly !(imo) anyway nice work !

Man that looks awesome. It looks like a nice kit for the money too. Does it ever bother you mixing scales? Especially for your videos with a lot of different vehicles working together, it would be cool if they were all the same scale or is it just not really a concern? I’d imagine even bumping it up to a 1/10 would have increased the price a bit so maybe they were shooting for a certain price range.

Working man's truck. Way cool build. Gets me to thinking my next RC is going to be completely built by me. i really like the fact they kept authenticity of the vehicle in mind when making it. Those spring packs are so impressive. they would weigh a ton in metal and be oh so stiff without a load on them. Can't wait to see it done and running. On a kit like this does it give you a suggestion of what motor and electronics to get?

The truck was obviously intended to be more of a scale truck than a competent crawler, so having features that look great but don't perform all that well wouldn't bother me at all. Besides, the real truck wouldn't perform well as a rock crawler either (makes it more scale!)
In addition to my previous comment, if you're building it in the inspiration of the game, I hope the frame flexes a bit, it'll be like the truck in the game, if you're going to lock the differential you could make it selectable like in the game, also figuring out some sort of tire chain like what you can also equip would be very cool
I like the design and concept of the rig, but I feel that it’s a bit too plasticy? Be interesting to see how this fairs up with some use that’s for sure.

I think you should make the drive axle lockable from the transmitter. I love that old style truck and i love the idea of making a spintires truck i love the game. This is why i love watching your channels always something intresting going on

In my opinion, when you do the body on panting it..give it the age but beat to hell type of pant job..faded, rusty type of look..that would amazing with this build....once again in my opinion
I was just introduced to another brand! This looks awesome! Also something I would like to see you so is maybe a tamiya full option tank? It’s supposed to be big and have accurate sounds and be really scale! I know you had some fun with tanks in the past
No better way to spend a snowy winter than to build something different. Love it. I’m voting for thicker gear oil to help lock up that diff.
It’s cool and I play the game to I’d keep the diff locked. Definitely like the leafs maybe down the road upgrade to Rc4wd leafs and tires.
That's a great looking truck. You should film the complete built from start to finnish along with the painting and édit it in an 1h long video. Include your tought and strugle along the way and all. Can wait to see it rolling in the mud.
Both! I'm building a hovercraft for a filming rc for my track races. i'm also running a traxxas rustler and a traxxas slash 4x4.
I like the big leafs. But I think the truck would look sweet with a black body and plain white rc sparks studio logo, and white wood. The rear axle looks pretty beefy as well.
I too have been thinking of building a 2x4 scale truck, but I want to build one with the Ford Twin I Beam front suspension.
It might be worth while to leave that rear open. The trick will be to remember you can't wheel it like a trail truck.
When you load it up with cargo you've GOTTA load it up with scale logs! Or rocks, rocks could look cool, and add considerable weight.

For scale the tires are right on the money. Those old trucks had tires like that. Reminds me of some of the old farm trucks that was around when I was young. Looks like a fun time in store for you ahead. Keep up the great work sir and you can bet I,ll be watching for this build as you go along.

id prefer light but bit of weight in the rear to keep wheels on ground , have you played the original Spintires by Oovee. the creator of the original joined his old group or something like that and created MudRunner
Remember, in the end that truck is an International..., so if not a military theme, there is always International Orange with Black fenders & grille.
Hey i actually downloaded both mud runner and spintire for pc before watching this video and the graphics are great, the simulation are outstanding. I do really wanna see u build that truck step by step if u can do a video on that
Those rear leafs literally made my jaw drop when you pulled on out. But I can not wait to see this truck being made. I know you will do a awesome paint job on the truck.

those leaf springs are overload and then regular springs. Maybe not that truck but I've noticed from older dump beds has that.
