Oh... You haven't heard about the mew glitch, have you xD Redfuzzydice covered it a few videos ago, but from the outside it's the same crazy process of, "do these weird things and you'll get a mew" except you actually get a mew
I don't know _why_ it works, but I know _how_ to use it. If you kill enough enemies, and then enter the doghouse from clipping through the fence, it sends you to a random indoor/dungeon area. This means killing 1 enemy, you go somewhere else than if you kill 2. There's likely a guide somewhere on how to use the wrongwarp to beat the game early, but I haven't bothered to look
I've just discovered this series, and it's one the most interesting videos I've seen. I stumbled on your Mew Glitch explaination, and I feel lucky for having this one uploaded only 10 days ago. Please continue, either on same game or others, it's great. Still, I have some questions: - How do we got the "poisoned" status - Why is the hall of fame all glitched up ?
I love these type of videos, you have no idea how much i wanted to truly understand what happened when glitching Pokemon Red/Blue since they are my favourite games. Hope you make more Pokemon vids like these more often
Nintendo claimed they fixed it in the Japanese Blue version, but it works just like it did in Red and Green Makes me wonder how it got fixed in the international releases
+Daniel M. L. I think it has something to do with being able to clip into the wall and enter the dog house from the back, which is not supposed to happen, so the game freaks out. That's is a huge simplification, and is probably wrong, so I'd love to see a vid on that, too!
Evan Blenkinsopp Oh yeah I’ve performed the glitch multiple times I just don’t know why it freaks out. For example on my play through I tried the glitch and in the glitched dimension I opened a chest that soft locked me way later in the game at Eagles Tower since I was supposed to hookshot to the disappeared chest. I’d really just want to see why the game does what it does.
If you're here you likely came from AverageTreyVG's September 8th podcast or somehow just stumbled upon this video while looking for SMS or RBY glitches.
you're* Also if they were a teacher, they would have said "students" instead of "kids." A much more likely scenario would be that they were in said class and explaining to friends the terminology.
if I'm understanding this correctly, couldn't you mess the execution of this glitch up with your name entry or even randomly with a Trainer ID#? Couldn't those variables put an FF into the details of your lead pokemon?
redfuzzydice talked briefly about not being able to do the equivalent of this glitch with the Select glitch in the localizations and it not wrong warping there. How to do it is explained here: glitchcity.info/wiki/International_%27dokokashira_door_glitch%27 This is not the SRAM glitch Scykoh made a video of though.
When messing around with Missingno and stuff I think I faced a wild team rocket battle where they had 9+ pokemon and I eventually died and they sometimes would just keep swapping pokemon over their old pokemon or something, idr. It was so long ago and pretty weird.
Nice video. Noticed you made a small mistake. D163 is the location of the party Pokémon in the English version. In the Japanese versions it's not there but at D123.
So, this is basically a wrong Warp. What about thoughts and possiblities of a Super Mario Sunshine Wrong Warp. There are some intresting results I found. So, evereybody knows Pinna 1 Cutscene Skip. This doesn't occur in any other cutscene we can enter. When we try exit area and enter a loading zone like Noki 6, the game will reset itself. This also happens, if we die during entering a loading zone. (Just try entering Ricco 2 and dying the same time as you exit area) Maybe you can find some more information about how what I mentioned works, and what we could try to wrong warp to Corona / idk. Thanks for reading.
You should explain the box glitch in pokemon Gold and Silver where you use the boxnames to change the properties of your pokemon in the first slot. I'd be very interested in this
redfuzzydice explained because the FF terminator is missing it thinks you have non-existing Pokémon from slot 2 and beyond in the party. Pokémon beyond slot 7 have unrelated data interpreted as Pokémon data, and since Pokémon status is in that data structure many of these are bound to be poisoned, including D335 which is the status byte for Pokémon 199 and is responsible for where the game warps you on compatible warps.
ChickasaurusGL Ah, thanks matey, yeah I was wondering which particular byte it was. Didn't catch that the status byte for one of the mons exactly lined up with D335. Huh, so do you know if the glitch would be impossible to execute if things were shifted even a single byte?
You're welcome :). Sorry I made a mistake here. To get the address you do (D12F+(2C*(N-1)) because D12F is the first Pokémon's status, and the other addresses follow for every 0x2C bytes. 199 can be found from (D12F+2C*C6) because 198 is C6 in hexadecimal. This gives us F337 (Echo RAM for D337) as the status value. In the data structure HP byte 2 is stored exactly two bytes before. Hence D335 is Pokémon 199's current HP. As for what D335 actually is it's probably a byte from the data structure of location ID, coordinates Tobias Kuula describes in the comments below. In the English versions this begins at D3B0 (Red/Blue, Yellow addresses are offset by -1) and is stored Y coordinate, X coordinate, map's entrance position, map ID. Whether you could do this with a different data structure depends on factors of extrapolation like those in the equation above. In theory the game could find another Pokémon both poisoned and in the range of warp addresses, or not find one at all. For English international dokokashira door glitch, you may not be able to modify the warp entry addresses due to there being no HP address above 0 (fainted) that has a warp entry address. But with the discovery of the unrelated save abuse glitch, as well as a glitch known as item underflow requiring a drink and x255 item stack (with an easier variation called dry underflow which only requires a x255 stack) you can just modify item 36's quantity in the expanded items pack to warp anywhere in the game from special buildings.
But what if there's a terminator somewhere in the data? Is there any data field that can have FF as a legit value? Thinking of 255 HP or something. If this appeared early enough, the game could assume our Pokémon data would've ended before D335. Or what if the "Pokémon" whose HP are stored at D335 is not poisoned? What does the data field that makes the game think its poisoned actually represent? Can it be 00?
Aurα вírdч I mean, literally every game has glitches in them. Since hames handle code by values, numbers and the like, in literally every game, there's eventually a way to overload/manipulate/underflow them, and because of that, the game freaks out.
Mint Squared well every cart (sometimes) has extra stuff that they left in, which takes space and what I don't get is why do they leave it there and why not delete it and free it up and also I like hidden things in the files
Wait, don't some areas, like Pallet Town, have multiple warps? If so, how does Pokémon determine whether or not to use the value at $D335 as the warp destination?
I don't think I fully understand why you don't warp on certain warp tiles. Why is it that certain warp tiles don't follow the glitch? Do they use a different address?
That's cool. I think I'll try it out. Edit: I couldn't get the steps right and I didn't warp anywhere beside the rival's house. I wonder if it doesn't work on an emulator?
I tried it on an emulator, and it doesn't quite work. I used an online emulator of Pocket Monsters Aka and Midori, and they both gave me the same result. I wonder what would happen if all of the pokemon we got using the glitch fainted for poison... Would we get back to our house? Is that impossible (not likely)?

I absolutely adore this series and pray you continue it
8:00 Wouldn’t the terminator at D2E0 prevent a mass of Pokémon from being created in the party list? Or are not all examples of “FF” terminators?
By the time it reaches D2E0, you already have hundreds of pokemon
D2E0 - D163 = 381 pokemons
The game only checks for terminators in the pokemon id index.
FF can also be uninitialized memory (it kindof depends on whether games wipe memory on startup, or things like cosmic rays)
I don't even remember making this comment lmao
