    Cheers for the vids as well. You have helped me immensely on my sons tc50.

    How many hours do you recommend on pistons on these bikes ? Also hours on full engine build? Love the videos keep them coming 👍

      Hi Ako, about 20 - 30 hours is when most replace the top end of these bikes. I went 55hours on my latest changeover, I wouldn't go much more than that.
      Bottom ends seem to get 100 - 150hours

    Hi James, you wouldn’t happen to know the deck clearance for a 2021 ktm65sx by any chance?
    Thanks

    I replaced my sons top end in his KTM 50 for the first time ever.. I didn’t realize that the gaskets were not supposed to be all used at the same time.. didn’t know about deck height or squish.. learning on the fly here. It seized.. could this be from me using all the gaskets. Don’t laugh lol. We all start somewhere. 😂😂😂

    should i need to get bigger gasket my piston go 0.01-0.02mm above the 0mm x distance tolerance? Only on the back side of the piston is out of the tolerance and my cylinderhead is stock hope you will see this message.

    Hi James, quick question buddy that I can't seem to find the answer to anywhere. If you are installing a vhm head do you keep the squish the same as standard or do you decrease or increase it slightly with a different gasket?

    • @jameswharton3143
      @jameswharton3143  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Dave, really unsure what squish the VHM setup works best with. I would give them a call to confirm

      Hi there I don't have that length on hand sorry, but will keep a lookout

    This tool is not for squish, it is to adjust the right compression ratio. That means the right combustion chamber volume. Squish is something different, squish is a circumferencial area of the piston with the cylinder head with a very small gap. This area around the piston presses the fuel air mixture to the center of the combustion chamber and it optimizes the burning of the fuel air mixture.

    • @yourfavoritewelder3162

      The distance from the piston to the head changes with the base gasket height. If the cylinder goes up or down based off of the thickness of the base gasket then the head goes up or down with it.

    • @danijuggernaut
      @danijuggernaut 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@yourfavoritewelder3162 One thing is squish and another thing is compression ratio. It can happen that with the right squish gap the chamber has a too high compression.

    Should u ever have to adjust the timing if the squish is correct?

    • @jameswharton3143
      @jameswharton3143  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      No timing should never need to be touched
