2 years later this pattern and video is still helping people like me tremendously! I grew up knitting and felt initially intimiated by crochet, but this video definitely gave me some new confidence with switching colors, different size needles, and crochet techniques. ❤ Thank you!
I was rather intimidated by mosaic crochet, but decided to step a bit out of my comfort zone & give this a try. It took a little while to get started, but your video soon had me getting the hang of it. It is delightfully fun to work up & enjoyably addictive. I have purchased this pattern & the matching mitten pattern, so I can make them again & again. Thank you so much

I purchased my copy of the classic crochet colorwork ebook and expanded patterns as soon as I heard about it!! My favorite crochet designers together with my favorite types of patterns! Thank you for putting out this awesome set of patterns and I cannot wait to get started on them!
OMG! Love your channel! U don’t have a clue how how many stuff I have done over this Christmas from you tutorials! So hard to find such great quality on TH-cam on teaching crochet! Never tried this kind of pattern cause I always found it difficult.. but with u e everything seams simple! Thanks for sharing! Biggest fan ❤❤❤
wow---pattern is awesome. I just finished this and I have to say it is the best hat I have ever made. The pattern was pretty easy and gives the piece a designer look. Thank you. Any color with white is a show stopper. I used a dusty teal color. Can't wait to make more. Thank you again, MJ!!
Thank you so much for share this pattern , I was afraid to start to crochet mosaic, but the way you explained is easy to understand ,good luck in every proyecto ❤😊🤗
This pattern and tutorial was just what I needed to start my journey into mosaic crochet. Thank you so much for sharing your talent and excellent teaching!
This is new to me but I am so glad I am working on it. It really is easy and fun. So glad for this video, otherwise, I would have not done it right. I bought this pattern and the one for the mittens. Thank you they are awesome!
Hi mj, can't wait to try this. I looked for comparables on the blog, as we crochet don't deliver to Ireland, but can't see them anywhere. Or is it just me 😆 thank you 😊
I followed all instructions and used a 5 mm hook for the entire hat. It turned out OK but the size is way off. Mine came out more for an adult LOL. I'm in USA would the hooks be different than where you are? Just keep making these incredible videos. You're so easy to understand.
I'm in Canada and buy my hooks from the US. Did you check your gauge? You may need to use a different size hook to meet the gauge to obtain correct sizing.
This is such a beautiful design. I see so many possibilities with color combination. Question - Your tutorial says to flip the band but there is a note on the video that says no need to flip the band.
@@mjsoffthehook I got the ebook and went ahead with the expansion. I've been a subscriber for a while to your channel. Glad to have found the other two gals you collaborated with. That Briana is AWESOME!! So glad I spent the money for the whole shebang. The other design I have been wanting to learn was the Fair Isle, and she just makes it sound so easy! Found her videos too! Thanks for introducing us :D The TH-cam Way
I don’t know if normal worsted weight yarn is just bigger than this, but when following this pattern using an acrylic worsted weight yarn, this turned out to be adult sized
I reached 13.5 inches in 50 rows and had to go down to 14 sts instead of 16 for the brim to fit your gauge. I think I get about 8 rows in 2” where you got 9 rows in 2”. What is the min requirement for stitches for the pattern to work? Should I go down to 48 rows instead? Or can I go to say 52 rows?
Thanks Michelle! I will be buying the hat and mitten patterns, just curious if you kniw yet when the hat will be released? I can get one purchase through without Hubby noticing but multiple ones he catches and I am on a yarn and pattern ban 🙄 lol. Just a quick heads up, the link for the pom-poms is not working, it comes up as not a valid page. Absolutely love the designs. Congrats on the ebook, so exciting! 💖
Hi MJ. I’m curious as to why this band when you seamed, you went through all of the stitches. On the Rustic Plaid beanie, in my purchased pattern you went into the BLO when slip stitching together. Why the difference and which is best? Thanks
Hi there, I've just found this video and I already watched it a bit to get a grasp of how the pattern is done. What caught my attention was that at 15:13 you mention a slip stitch with the white yarn in the whole stitch (two loops). But at that time, on the screen, there's a text saying SL ST BLO. Does it matter if you don't sl st in the back loop only like you did? Not sure if anyone else mentioned it before. Just wondered... 😁 thanks in advance!
I liked this video for learning how to change colors. :) Have a general question. When one turns their work to go back the opposite direction, do they always turn the same direction (like counterclockwise or clockwise), or does it matter?
The instructions say to slip stitch at the end of each row in the blo of the sc instead of the chain one but it seems like I lose a stitch each round of I do that.
Hi MJ, love the design. Thanks for sharing. My joining did not look neat - I wonder why? Could it be the yarn? Although it is a worsted weight it's not very soft so I wonder if thats the reason. Your joins are not visible.
Are you slip stitching in the back loop only? I added a title to mention this. It looks better if you do that. Also pull the tails nice and tight when you join.
I love this pattern, I just bought the ebook. My question is would I Love This Yarn in cotton or acrylic work or another brand I can get from Hobby Lobby, JoAnn’s or Micheals?
I'm using caron simply soft white for the band and the outline pattern, then using Hobby Lobby's I Love This Yarn in the colourway of Amber Honey. I used an I hook for the band... and oops forgot to swap for the rest of the hat, but it turned out devine since I like a sloucher hat. I'm almost done with the hat, and had absolutely no problems swapping out. Hope that helps you out! This is an amazing pattern and looks Fabulous!
I can’t get into this blog, and wanting the number or rows across for a bigger beanie. What is the repeat for the brim does anyone know please??? Hang on l think it’s a 4 stitch repeat across. Let’s hope that works lol

Hello and thank you for this gorgeous hat pattern!! I am making it in a beautiful gold and royal purple, however, I can't get past the second row of the body of the hat. One I start the 3rd row, I can't keep the 80 stitch count. Your pattern says to join, slip stitch and chain 1 in the first stitch (but that doesn't count as a stitch) Then it appears that you do your first stitch on the next, which will make a 79 stitches total. I've tried going back into that same first stitch, but not only is it difficult, bit it looks terrible. HELP!! WHAT AM DOING WRONG?? I've start and pulled it out at least 6 times.... I REALLY want to make this hat, but just can't get it right!! HEEELP PLEASE!!!
I'd love to see a snowflake version of this

This is my first time. Question: do you carry over the yarn that is not on use? Or you just leave it there at the beginning of the row? Tks
I leave at the beginning of the row.
Leave it at the beginning of the row saves so much yarn
