I have travelled in a camper van and a narrow boat. Sadly, my then husband was an abuser. I got head and neck cancer, which had spread. I spent approximately 4 months in hospital. Actually, Tom, i was diagnosed at Queens Medical Centre and had all my treatment as an in-patient at the City hospital. The motto was in 2012, which was to hit it hard and fast. They had to stop the last chemo as they said it would kill me. You guys are geret. Love they podcasts ❤❤❤❤
I was motivated to leave the US through one encouragement from musician/singer Dick Gaughan who said, 'you can't know your own country until you live outside of it for a time and turn around and look back.' But it was the utter nasty treatment by those in control of folk music in my home state (radio, concerts, playing music in someone's house) that made me feel 'why not?' It took me four years to find a way to do it - I came through the work exchange programme, where you can get legal papers to work in another country for a number of months if you meet criteria regarding a university degree. Even today taking the bus back from an early order pickup, I was so grateful that I did it, that I live in Edinburgh, that I've gotten to experience what I have. So you two are exactly on the money - it doesn't have to be a serious illness that makes you re-assess and revalue your lives - but it does take the courage that perhaps an illness or nasty music people gives us so that we say 'okay, I'll try that'.
Hi Tom and Malin. I apologize as I have gotten so behind on watching U Tube. What a great Topic. “ Mindset”. You two are great and really have me realizing that Mindset is so important regardless of what we are thinking about doing. I must say, the last 12+ yrs I did Contract work which had me traveling all over the US. I absolutely Loved it and I miss traveling so very much. Enjoy your Travel Times as Charlie will starting school what too soon. Then like you said, you will without a doubt have to be in one spot. Like really changes once our children start school, yet we love it, embrace it and have so so many exciting things happening as our little ones get active in sports, school activities etc. Malin, please tell us (if you want to share) about your dream that led you in Naming your Van Sunny. It seems like you shared that with us, but I don’t remember the Dream. It’s great that you both have the same desires and dreams and I know you will succeed.
