I don't hate them but I certainly don't love them either. Always been somewhat meh to me. They're alright, not "awful" but a bit overrated in my opinion. That's always been my thought on them. I love Muse too, but definitely wouldn't consider them metal. One of the guys at Andertons described them as "Prog Space Rock" which I think comes pretty close. 😁

Cole Ford nah there’s music from most sub genres of metal I enjoy. What I don’t enjoy just so happens to be 100% of current mainstream metal and pretty much any band that came out after the 90s. I didn’t get license on what good music is I simply voiced my feeling on mainstream metal. Not sure why you’re crying because one persons opinion doesn’t coincide with yours, and don’t bother dropping the ‘if you have nothing nice to say’ routine on me because I certainly don’t follow that school of thought.

Walrus Blues I have no idea why, it’s a great song. Any band is going to eventually have some sort of ballad. And Metallica created a fantastic one with an incredible solo, chorus riff, and lyrics
I really don't get the hate they just hate them because they are mainstream and I don't get the whole Metallica copy thing either like they have taken some inspiration but if they were blatantly copying Metallica I wouldn't like them (since I am not the biggest metallica fan no hate for all you that like Metallica though I can still appreciate them musically)

@@PorscheJon Highly depends on the kind of metal fan. To some of us, the poetry is a large part of the music. If you can write lyrics that flow well, have thought out allegories and carry an important message, it could drastically increase my enjoyment of the song. It won't save a bad one, but adds a lot of flavour to an already good one for sure.

I love you for loving Slipknot. There's no such thing as screamo metal.. It's metal, whether you scream or shout. Same with A7X, they don't deserve the hate. Yeah I haven't heard many of their songs just heard them live one time (never even knew who they were till that concert) and I wasn't really a fan there were a couple that I thought were decent but for the most part I was pretty bored, they definitely sounded more Rock than Metal.

On their older stuff, there were usually a couple songs on each album that could pass as metal, but, that’s about it. I would say they’re mostly rock or alternative rock if you had to label it.
Mike Kushins I cant stand disturbed. Mostly because their songs all sound the same and my buddy plays them constantly! Their singer has such a beautiful voice but then does nothing new with it!! Even when he started a new band it was the same crap!

I really thought I'd see my favourite band, KoRn on number 1 spot, as I didn't really consider nickelback to be "metal". I saw a LOT of hate for KoRn, especially since "The Path of Totality" aka "that one dubstep record". Still love them tho. Great vid!
I seem to be in a weird minority. I loved their first 4 albums. Untouchables and Take A Look In The Mirror were pretty fine. I really disliked Twisted Transistor and then hated Coming Undone when it came out, they mostly forgot frets were on the guitar and that riff was so boring. I stopped listening to them at that point, the new stuff anyway. Heard Evolution once a couple years later and wtf was that. Then one day in 2013 I heard Narcissistic Cannibal and it was awesome, listened to that whole album multiple times in a day. So then I gave Paradigm Shift a shot and it was solid, as well as their last 2 albums. I don't get anyone who sat through the mostly boring, uninspired decade of 2000's Korn and then completely stopped listening to them once they tried something different. Sure hate that album because dubstep, whatever, but everything after that was more interesting than they had been since the 90's as well.

Some people hate them because of the fact they switched from Metalcore Genre to Progressive Metal and then became a typical Heavy Metal band. Some people hate them without even listening to them. Some people hate Synyster Gates(idk why) and don't consider him as a great guitarist even though he is one of the best metal guitarist rt now and has some epic solos in his books. Me personally love them and is one of my fav bands ever and I do believe their self titled album was one of the best metal albums and they deserve a massive respect for all the music that they have made.
Ajay Sharma I 100% agree dude I think self titled was a masterclass in heavy music and I think The Stage was a masterclass in progressive rock/metal. Those two albums are incredible. City of Evil might be their most important album.
The only thing I don't like about a7x, is that once you heard/learnt one solo, you know them all. They aren't that memorable, they're great but... meh, overdone, at least in my opinion.
Pantera was actually around in the 80’s, I remember hearing ads for them playing clubs in Houston. Started off as a hair/glam metal band then evolved into what made them famous.

Incredibly unpopular opinion: St. Anger is actually an amazing album and shows you the raw nerves of the band. Also, Load and Reload are as pure Metallica as Metallica gets. Everything else is written, but Load and Reload are felt.
HT came out my sophomore year, never liked Nu-Metal before I heard that record. I was into Metallica, Megadeth and more old school stuff like Sabbath before. Honestly though, LP is one of the very few Nu-Metal acts I ever cared about.
I don't hate Dream Theater,but I still don't listen their music. I listen 2 songs of them,and still trying to listen to them. I can listen Draconian,and still found new bands,just like Dream Theater,but I need to give them chance,not to hate,but to try listening their songs,and trying to find their music in my way to listen,and to respect the band. I need to try more songs of them to listen :)

There have been boring moments in DT's discography, but in my opinion they can put out heavy and beautiful stuff and the more technical parts are mostly earned. Plus, the fast and complex stuff takes up a fairly small percentage of the music they put out, so I don't get how you feel all their music is just that.

Metalheads probably hate them because they kinda sold out to hair in the mid and late 80s. I personally like hair, so I don't have a problem with it, but I can admit it is much more safe, cheesy, and marketable compared to "real" 80s metal.

In response to the Avenged Sevenfold “Metallica-rip-off” hate they get: A7X did not ripoff Metallica. People always hate on one song, This Means War, because the main riff and structure of the song sounds similar to Sad But True. This is because Hail to the King (the album This Means War is from) is a tribute album of sorts to all of the hard rock and heavy metal bands that influenced Avenged. They got Metallica’s blessing to produce and release This Means War. Thank you and have a good day.

One of my favorite bands is Volbeat. I really enjoy the short story they created on Guitar Gangsters and Cadillac Blood and Beyond Hell/Above Heaven. The new album is incredible. They get a lot of hate. Never understood why.
I love volbeat, but listening too an album of theirs become quite monotone. Thats what iv heard about what some hate about them. Also as a dane, i cant hate them!
The lead singer's voice and lyrics are some of the worst I've ever heard. The backing band is clearly talented, but I can't get past the singer at all. Volbeat is worse than Nickelback to me. I'd rather be slapped hard across the face than listen to an entire volbeat song.
My issue with them is mostly that they just haven't changed at all. Of course you're allowed to stay true to your roots and style, but when people have a hard time telling the difference between your newest song and a song from your first album, that's a problem. Not to mention the frontman is an absolute asshole who bans media outlets for giving them bad reviews.
I think one reason is that they also have songs, where the Nazis are shown as the good, heroic, mighty guys. And some of european Nazi-subculture really picked up on those Songs. Its kind of like they produced songs perfectly made for Neo-Nazis. The music is cool, though.
@@bobmuller3118 im pretty sure some of their songs explicitly refer to Nazis as evil, but if that's the reason people hate them then they're really TRYING to find a reason, Sabaton is certainly not sympathizing with extremists. The only other thing I can think of people disliking them for is their style. Not that it's bad, but it's so prevalent that lots of songs sound similar (doesn't bother me, just mix up their songs in a playlist with other bands or something lol) Loosely related: Carolus Rex is one of my favorite metal songs
@@MericErdemBal The Wehrmacht, although it is way less present in the media, was also heavily involved in numerous war crimes, as far as i am informed. I do live in northern germany, and half of our history education was dedicated towards WW2, the Nazis etc. It wasnt just Commanders, the whole troop was pretty "convinced" of the nazi ideology. The Red Army also was cruel to men, women and children indeed, but this does not mean that our german soldier were anything like innocent victims at the end of WW2. Also, you seem to forget "Ghost division". It literally praises the incredible speed and the overwhelming power of the 7th Panzer Division. No denial in that. And praising the military power of nazi germany is just the thing, a lot of neo-nazis like to hear... I am not saying that the band is racist, but they do provide some questionable lyrics. @Kuuryo Agreed. As you can surely imagine, controlling your people through tons of propangande, a strong ideology and cruel persecution (how is this spelled?) does help your productivity quite a lot. Nazi germany's efficiency was mainly based on the use of unpaid workers such as war captives and captured minorities, but also on the main german population which strongly believed to be the "superior race".
@@bobmuller3118 As far as I know most of the war crimes the Wehrmacht was convicted of, went along the ways of either not being able to feed the amount of war prisoners they`ve taken and just shooting them, or destroying civilian objects in some of the heavier battles (funny how the British did that WAY more than the Germans, and yet trialed them for it). As for Ghost Division, units commanded by Rommel weren`t even accused of any war crimes, and they have truly earned a place on a pedestal in the history of warfare (hell, I even remember my Polish school history book dedicating a page to Rommel and praising him for his skill and honor), so no wonder that a song about one of them presents it in a favourable light. Par Sundstrom once said: "We don`t glorify anything, we simply tell stories of what happened".
People don't understand that a lot of the bands people say suck, actually have a lot of good songs. Linkin Park is so badass, FFDP has some good songs. Idk Creed well, but A7X has good songs and a good guitarist, singer, drummer. I guess a lot of metal heads judge before they listen to something. And that's coming from someone that's into Polyphia, Currents, Metallica, Animals As Leaders, etc.
@@exsod1468 Open up to it. You want thrash, look for remastered versions of the Death Magnetic album. On Load/Reload, first listen to King Nothing and maybe Devil's Dance. Then do the entire Load album start to finish. St. Anger is going to be a little more complicated, since you need to be in a certain mental state to enjoy its raw anger and power.

I love how they consider Muse to be metal. As a die-hard Muse fan, even I don't consider them metal, even at their heaviest. They do get pretty heavy, though.

Cole Ford nah there’s music from most sub genres of metal I enjoy. What I don’t enjoy just so happens to be 100% of current mainstream metal and pretty much any band that came out after the 90s. I didn’t get license on what good music is I simply voiced my feeling on mainstream metal. Not sure why you’re crying because one persons opinion doesn’t coincide with yours, and don’t bother dropping the ‘if you have nothing nice to say’ routine on me because I certainly don’t follow that school of thought.

Metallica, Disturbed, Dream Theater, and Tool were the bands that got me hooked.
Linkin Park got me into _music_ from the Transformers movies. Still into rock and metal over 13 years later.

I really don't get the hate they just hate them because they are mainstream and I don't get the whole Metallica copy thing either like they have taken some inspiration but if they were blatantly copying Metallica I wouldn't like them (since I am not the biggest metallica fan no hate for all you that like Metallica though I can still appreciate them musically)

@@PorscheJon Highly depends on the kind of metal fan. To some of us, the poetry is a large part of the music. If you can write lyrics that flow well, have thought out allegories and carry an important message, it could drastically increase my enjoyment of the song. It won't save a bad one, but adds a lot of flavour to an already good one for sure.

I love you for loving Slipknot. There's no such thing as screamo metal.. It's metal, whether you scream or shout. Same with A7X, they don't deserve the hate. I personally don't like Black Veil Brides, just not my cup of tea, but I still feel your pain Avenged Sevenfold is my favorite band of all time and they're extremely high up there as one of three most hated bands of all time and I don't understand the hate at all. I was also surprised to see Linkin Park on this list they're my 2nd favorite band, up till 7th grade I'd only listen to LP.
I'm surprised Megadeth wasn't on this list and especially Dave Mustaine. And I love Megadeth and Mustaine!

Fred Durst was bullied his whole life. He's stated many times that he was pretty horrified by the culture that began to surround them. If you just listen to the music and especially the instrumentals, they're insanely creative.
Fred Durst asshole was a play for more exposure and it worked they were huge. But hes actually really humble irl.

Yeah I haven't heard many of their songs just heard them live one time (never even knew who they were till that concert) and I wasn't really a fan there were a couple that I thought were decent but for the most part I was pretty bored, they definitely sounded more Rock than Metal.
I would put then more in the rock catagory butThey have some pretty metal sounding songs. not like the heaviest stuff but id put some of their catalog under the umbrella of metal. Idk like knight of cydonia, reapers, stockholm syndrome, ect. if this list can include KISS as metal then i think Muse gets a pass lol

On their older stuff, there were usually a couple songs on each album that could pass as metal, but, that’s about it. I would say they’re mostly rock or alternative rock if you had to label it.

Mike Kushins I cant stand disturbed. Mostly because their songs all sound the same and my buddy plays them constantly! Their singer has such a beautiful voice but then does nothing new with it!! Even when he started a new band it was the same crap!

I really thought I'd see my favourite band, KoRn on number 1 spot, as I didn't really consider nickelback to be "metal". I saw a LOT of hate for KoRn, especially since "The Path of Totality" aka "that one dubstep record". Still love them tho. Great vid!
I seem to be in a weird minority. I loved their first 4 albums. Untouchables and Take A Look In The Mirror were pretty fine. I really disliked Twisted Transistor and then hated Coming Undone when it came out, they mostly forgot frets were on the guitar and that riff was so boring. I stopped listening to them at that point, the new stuff anyway. Heard Evolution once a couple years later and wtf was that. Then one day in 2013 I heard Narcissistic Cannibal and it was awesome, listened to that whole album multiple times in a day. So then I gave Paradigm Shift a shot and it was solid, as well as their last 2 albums. I don't get anyone who sat through the mostly boring, uninspired decade of 2000's Korn and then completely stopped listening to them once they tried something different. Sure hate that album because dubstep, whatever, but everything after that was more interesting than they had been since the 90's as well.

Some people hate them because of the fact they switched from Metalcore Genre to Progressive Metal and then became a typical Heavy Metal band.
Some people hate them without even listening to them.
Some people hate Synyster Gates(idk why) and don't consider him as a great guitarist even though he is one of the best metal guitarist rt now and has some epic solos in his books.
Me personally love them and is one of my fav bands ever and I do believe their self titled album was one of the best metal albums and they deserve a massive respect for all the music that they have made.
Ajay Sharma I 100% agree dude I think self titled was a masterclass in heavy music and I think The Stage was a masterclass in progressive rock/metal. Those two albums are incredible. City of Evil might be their most important album.
The only thing I don't like about a7x, is that once you heard/learnt one solo, you know them all. They aren't that memorable, they're great but... meh, overdone, at least in my opinion.

Pantera was actually around in the 80’s, I remember hearing ads for them playing clubs in Houston. Started off as a hair/glam metal band then evolved into what made them famous.

St. Anger is actually an amazing album and shows you the raw nerves of the band.
Also, Load and Reload are as pure Metallica as Metallica gets. Everything else is written, but Load and Reload are felt.

HT came out my sophomore year, never liked Nu-Metal before I heard that record. I was into Metallica, Megadeth and more old school stuff like Sabbath before. Honestly though, LP is one of the very few Nu-Metal acts I ever cared about.

I can listen Draconian,and still found new bands,just like Dream Theater,but I need to give them chance,not to hate,but to try listening their songs,and trying to find their music in my way to listen,and to respect the band. @Morbid Angel is better than Death I'll never understand the mental gymnastics it would take you to end up at that conclusion, especially since you so arrogantly state it as a fact. There have been boring moments in DT's discography, but in my opinion they can put out heavy and beautiful stuff and the more technical parts are mostly earned. Plus, the fast and complex stuff takes up a fairly small percentage of the music they put out, so I don't get how you feel all their music is just that.
Rule #1: Metalheads will have a problem with everything they like.
I still remember how incredible “waking the fallen” was when that album came out.
Got the album in 5th or 6th grade and I still blast that shit. My favorite metal album of all time; without a doubt.

Metalheads probably hate them because they kinda sold out to hair in the mid and late 80s. I personally like hair, so I don't have a problem with it, but I can admit it is much more safe, cheesy, and marketable compared to "real" 80s metal.

@@Ramsters oh no I totally got that part. All the debauchery and not-so-good press was a big part of their whole "bad boy" image. I was just giving an educated guess that a lot of metalheads don't consider motley crue "real metal", or maybe they consider their first 2 albums pretty metal, but a lot of people say they went too mainstream and "hair metal" starting with theatre of pain. And they cranked up the hair metal dial even further with girls and Dr. Feel good. The pop-metal kinda stuff

A7X did not ripoff Metallica. People always hate on one song, This Means War, because the main riff and structure of the song sounds similar to Sad But True. This is because Hail to the King (the album This Means War is from) is a tribute album of sorts to all of the hard rock and heavy metal bands that influenced Avenged. They got Metallica’s blessing to produce and release This Means War.

Yeah, I only discovered them a view months ago by watching one of these "Worst Bands ever" videos and I love them! The theatrics are amazing, the music is very good and they never fail to surprise me.

fun fact, I used to take the vocals from A7X and play them through a voice changer one step down on the ol' PS3 and my buddies thought it was James Hetfield. Ever since then I can't listen to them the same.
I love Death but everyone gripes about Chucks voice. RIP. CHUCK was amazing guitar player and writter I can deal with the vocals at least I could understand what he was singing
From my experience, it's mostly his vocals on "The Sound of Perseverance" that people hate on.

One of my favorite bands is Volbeat. I really enjoy the short story they created on Guitar Gangsters and Cadillac Blood and Beyond Hell/Above Heaven. The new album is incredible. They get a lot of hate. Never understood why.
They're a good rock and roll band, but the vocalist is what ruins it for me. I hate that Elvis Presley shit.

The lead singer's voice and lyrics are some of the worst I've ever heard. The backing band is clearly talented, but I can't get past the singer at all. Volbeat is worse than Nickelback to me. I'd rather be slapped hard across the face than listen to an entire volbeat song.
My issue with them is mostly that they just haven't changed at all. Of course you're allowed to stay true to your roots and style, but when people have a hard time telling the difference between your newest song and a song from your first album, that's a problem. Not to mention the frontman is an absolute asshole who bans media outlets for giving them bad reviews.
I feel like Sabaton is getting a lot of hate, but i've always loved them and don't really get it.
I think one reason is that they also have songs, where the Nazis are shown as the good, heroic, mighty guys. And some of european Nazi-subculture really picked up on those Songs. Its kind of like they produced songs perfectly made for Neo-Nazis.
The music is cool, though.
@@bobmuller3118 im pretty sure some of their songs explicitly refer to Nazis as evil, but if that's the reason people hate them then they're really TRYING to find a reason, Sabaton is certainly not sympathizing with extremists. The only other thing I can think of people disliking them for is their style. Not that it's bad, but it's so prevalent that lots of songs sound similar (doesn't bother me, just mix up their songs in a playlist with other bands or something lol)

@@MericErdemBal The Wehrmacht, although it is way less present in the media, was also heavily involved in numerous war crimes, as far as i am informed. I do live in northern germany, and half of our history education was dedicated towards WW2, the Nazis etc. It wasnt just Commanders, the whole troop was pretty "convinced" of the nazi ideology. The Red Army also was cruel to men, women and children indeed, but this does not mean that our german soldier were anything like innocent victims at the end of WW2.
Also, you seem to forget "Ghost division". It literally praises the incredible speed and the overwhelming power of the 7th Panzer Division. No denial in that.
And praising the military power of nazi germany is just the thing, a lot of neo-nazis like to hear...
I am not saying that the band is racist, but they do provide some questionable lyrics.

@Kuuryo Agreed. As you can surely imagine, controlling your people through tons of propangande, a strong ideology and cruel persecution (how is this spelled?) does help your productivity quite a lot. Nazi germany's efficiency was mainly based on the use of unpaid workers such as war captives and captured minorities, but also on the main german population which strongly believed to be the "superior race".
@@bobmuller3118 As far as I know most of the war crimes the Wehrmacht was convicted of, went along the ways of either not being able to feed the amount of war prisoners they`ve taken and just shooting them, or destroying civilian objects in some of the heavier battles (funny how the British did that WAY more than the Germans, and yet trialed them for it). As for Ghost Division, units commanded by Rommel weren`t even accused of any war crimes, and they have truly earned a place on a pedestal in the history of warfare (hell, I even remember my Polish school history book dedicating a page to Rommel and praising him for his skill and honor), so no wonder that a song about one of them presents it in a favourable light. Par Sundstrom once said: "We don`t glorify anything, we simply tell stories of what happened".

People don't understand that a lot of the bands people say suck, actually have a lot of good songs. Linkin Park is so badass, FFDP has some good songs. Idk Creed well, but A7X has good songs and a good guitarist, singer, drummer. I guess a lot of metal heads judge before they listen to something. And that's coming from someone that's into Polyphia, Currents, Metallica, Animals As Leaders, etc.
I love Metallica, they're the band that got me into metal, and I'm sure I'm not alone.

@@exsod1468 Open up to it. You want thrash, look for remastered versions of the Death Magnetic album. On Load/Reload, first listen to King Nothing and maybe Devil's Dance. Then do the entire Load album start to finish. St. Anger is going to be a little more complicated, since you need to be in a certain mental state to enjoy its raw anger and power.
