Frontal Impact takes place at 64 Km/h, 40% of the width of the car striking a deformable barrier. In the side impact, a mobile deformable barrier impacts the driver's door at 50 km/h. In the pole test, the car tested is propelled sideways at 29km/h into a rigid pole.

I've heard from a review of the q5, that audis are designed to take multiple impacts from a high speed crash, specifically the Autobahn. So driving one here in the US, high speed crashes would most likely be lower than that of the Autobahn. They are extremely safe vehicles.

It's a whiplash test. The point of it is to establish how effective the head restraint is in reducing whiplash. It simulates being rear-ended which is the most common kind of crash. A good head restraint is high and close to the back of your head. A poor head restraint won't support your head so your neck and spine will be damaged as your head is thrown backwards. The Audi Q5 has "good" head restraints. Remember: a head restraint (not rest) is a safety not comfort feature.

@AzazelPony I love Audis too but let's not kid ourselves. That train was just the locomotive and I see no indication of where it hit or what speed the train was travelling. The occupants were all in serious condition as well. I think that was luck more than automotive engineering.
