Same goes with the GCI Millennium Flyers, but I find those to track a lot better than Timberliners do. Say what you want about the PTC trains, but they do allow you to avoid wheel seats and run faster due to the extra weight.
@@Coasterlocity The front seat of each car does not have its seats directly on top of wheels, so they wouldn't be wheel seats either. It's not as dramatic of a difference as the 3-bench trains but it's still better than the back row of the car.

I am purposefully waiting until Holiday World to build something where Pilgrims Plunge used to sit before I visit the park. That space is an eyesore and I don't know why it's taking them so long to put something there.
Oddly shaped land that has a big concrete pool. If it was directly next to splashin safari they might be able to do something with it more easily, but unless they put in another water coaster it will need serious and expensive redevelopment
I think the entirety of their expansions post-Pilgrim's Plunge have been kind of a head scratcher. Thunderbird is so far from the entrance that no one goes back there unless it's crowded, and the new waterslides are sloppily placed seemingly a half mile away from the rest of the waterpark by the ugly Pilgrim's Plunge remains.

Holiday World is my home park, and I even worked in the Thanksgiving section for two years as a ride operator - with most of that time on Voyage. I love Holiday World, but they have a BIG problem with roughness on all their woodies. I brought my friends to the park my second year working there with my free tickets, and I convinced my boyfriend to ride all the woodies. We hit Raven, then Legend, with Voyage being last. He was so shaken up from the Legend he didn't want to ride the Voyage, but I managed to force him on. We ended up spending the rest of the day in the infirmary due to how motion sick he was. According to him he couldn't see straight for a couple of days HAHAHAHAHA

I totally agree that the airtime isn’t that strong, which is why I don’t think it’s as good as most people say it is. Voyage is still great for its length and how much fun it is though!
Voyage is really an amazing coaster. Aside from inconsistency in smoothness and pacing, I have no flaws with it and was completely blown away by it, already almost 2.5 years ago. (Spoiler: You'll see it in the top 5 of my Instagram ranking list)
I love the Voyage but I agree about the cons you listed. I was a little underwhelmed by it because I thought the airtime would be a bit better and the coaster would be a little smoother. Not smooth, just smoother than it was. Don't get me wrong. It is fantastic. But given how people rave about it (e.g. Canadacoasterfan pre 2018) or claim that it's better than Steel Vengeance during Holiwood Nights, I figured that it would have to be on the same level as Lightning Rod or El Toro and it simply isn't on that level. Don't get me wrong. It's great. It's in my top 10. But my expectations were not quite met.
Love the POTC background music. Great video! I rode the Voyage in 2018 and it is currently my #6. I'm also looking at going to HoliWood Nights next year for the Trimless rides. I think those rides could bump it up a little bit in my rankings.
You hit the nail on the head of why it should be higher on your list. There is nothing like it. You can drink a smooth sweet scotch and it is really redrinkable. You can also choose a smokey scotch from Islay. It is less redrinkable but it has a fascinating complexity of flavor that keeps you coming back. The Voyage is a complex scotch. It combines drops, speed, terrain, and is unpredictable. I haven't ever ridden anything like it.
Just visited this park for the first time today. This kind of reminds me of the Beast @ Kings Island.... But on steroids. Love the interaction with terrain with this ride. My only fault was the wait time, but after being up since 430 this morning driving 7 hours to get here. I kinda feel like it was worth it. It was pritty smooth though. Rode in the middle

I got my first ride on The Voyage last week and I have opinions. I had my expectations pretty high because of all the buzz around this ride. Let me tell you this thing is insanely rough in parts. I couldn't really enjoy the ride in parts because of how much it hurt. I felt that way about The Raven and The Legend too. I also feel the same way about The Beast at KI. These were just really rough wooden coasters. The idea of the voyage is awesome and i'm sure beack in the day it was amazing if it were smooth. I found the ride to be fun overall, but my favorite was Thunderbird at Holiday World because it was the only coaster that didn't beat the absolute crap out of me. lol.
The Beast......the only wooden coaster longer than The Voyage.....meaning The Voyage is the longest wooden with only one lift-hill right?? The Voyage is our favorite roller coaster within day trip distance from our home in NE Indiana. The layout, which you called brilliant and a masterpiece, is just that. POV videos cannot show how well this ride is engineered into the southern Indiana terrain. Back row rides with a defensively loose lap-bar are a blast. There’s a few little ejector points (ie: the little pop before the final left hand turn) that I’m glad they threw in. Night rides on this thing are extraordinary. We rode it 27 times over three trips in 2019. Holiwood Nights is a must do in 2020.
The voyage is by far my favorite wooden rollercoaster. The airtime is not the best on voyage outside the triple down but what makes this coaster rock is the laterals and it’s mild roughness. The banks uphill are sensational as you are constantly thrown to each side of the train . Now I like a rough wooden coaster that maybe not for everyone but I enjoy some classic wooden roughness. The length makes this quite the enjoyable ride at night along with the use of the terrains
The Voyage is G.O.A.T for me. I cant wait for your video after Holiwood nights 😁. This coaster has no cons IMO, but love the video breakdown. You really feel the airtime at night cause you cant see it happening. However the airtime isn't strong, but it's there throughout. Roughness? I heard prior to 2019 the last 1/3 was bad. They retrack it prior to 2019. I cant wait for this coaster to change your mind after your 1st nightride. I think it cracks your top 10 after HWN. Once again excellent breakdown.
I am definitely planning to do HoliWood Nights next year. I have never visited this park, and Voyage is one of my most anticipated coasters for next year. I do wish that it had the Timberliners, but there might be a reason for that. I love that Hades 360 had the Timberliners, and it has great use of terrain too, but it's also a bit rough.
The experience varies, I just went and they had a fresh layer of grease on the tracks (you could see the globs on either side of the track marks) and almost every hill was ejector air except in the front.
I rode the Voyage today. We went for the back row like usual. First drop was great but after that the issues started. The wheel assembly is running WAY too loose. It felt like there was 2-3 inches of give at all times. For some enthusiasts this might be something they dig but for me it was a major major disappoinment. Non stop jackhammering throughout the ride. Walked off not wanting to give it another go today. Something is not right.
Id say that the air time is really different day to day or even ride to ride in the same seat. I remember on my trip this year my morning rides were underwhelming, but by about 2 or 3 it had gotten cooking
Thank God they are retracking parts of it this off season. Went on it for the first time last month and year it was an amazing coaster, and it was, and also heard it was rough, and it was lol. That being said if it was smoother I would place it in front of El Toro being the best.
The Voyage is my #2 coaster out of 178 (Steel Vengeance is #1). I rode Lightning Rod last year, and it honestly underwhelmed me a bit. I rode Toro this year, which it was tough to choose that or Voyage, but I chose Voyage because its much longer, and Toro to me feels like a world class 1 trick pony. Voyage to me gives a much stronger sense of speed, great laterals, and while I agree the airtime is not its strongest trait, I felt it more this year. Also, I thought it ran significantly better this year than the last 2 years I have ridden it, way smoother, and the intensity picked up a bit imo.
Yeah I heard the return trip was retracked after 2018, and that was the most painful part for me so Im looking forward to next year with a lot more of it retracked

@Alexis Leblanc-Dussault when I said one trick pony, the main spoken about elements are airtime based, albeit best airtime I've ever experienced which is why it's so high in my rankings. I guess you also have that nice set of tight turns at the end as well. The reason I like Voyage more is that it's action packed throughout whereas Toro packs in 4 of the best airtime moments ever, but they're at the front and end of the ride separated by a somewhat underwhelming middle
I rode it recently in 2019 and it was the roughest coaster I’ve ever been on and the only air time I got is from the roughness bouncing me around 2/10 for me🙁 it’s number 120 out of 214 coasters I’ve been on
@@AirtimeThrills The entrance and exit out of the water park turnaround on Legend are brutal, but I would say the rest of the ride is smoother than Voyage (not that I found Voyage particularly rough). Pretty sure those 2 spots weren't touched when GCI did the overhaul so that would explain it.
This is a coaster I need to reride very badly. I visited Holiday World in 2015 and I considered this my number one overall until Steel Vengeance kicked it out in 2018. It slipped to number four after my June trip and I feel like Voyage probably would not overtake my 2 and 3, but it would either stay at 4 I think, possibly slip one spot or two. But I just don't remember the ride well enough to say for sure. Who knows, maybe it would move back up. You bring up great points, many of which I also discuss in my review. It was pretty rough and I was definitely pretty underwhelmed by the quality of the airtime.
Pretty much exactly what I was thinking after riding. Although no mixed feelings for me on Toro>Voyage. Close but no contest. I'm glad they are retracking it cos this past August, it was pretty rough except for in row 1. Also, I had no idea Gravity Group came from CCI. That explains alot.
This is my #2 overall coaster behind only Steel Vengeance...granted I only have the coaster count of around 50, and all of my rides came at Holiwood Nights 2020. It may have gone to #1 if it weren't for the PTC trains that bust up my knees while riding it. I definitely think it would benefit if they went to Millennium Flyers.
I hear nothing but good things about The Voyage and I'm afraid it's not going to live up to the hype when I ride it. But I think this video helped level out my expectations. Thanks!!
Yout going to love it. I was a non believer. Even after daytime ride, I was like this is one of the better cosster I been on. But man that break limits the half. No brake night rides is full potential. And its absolutely amazing
Another great video. I really like seeing your points of view. I'm sitting just below 400 credits and I feel like a lot of our opinions line up when I listen to what you have to say. I got my first rides on this in 2018 during a 3 day trip which included Indiana Beach, Holiday World, and Kentucky Kingdom (all first time visits). The week before I had went to Cedar Point for my first rides on Steel Vengeance and I was in awe. Knowing I'd be getting on Voyage the following week, I figured I would be getting two new top 10 credits if all the hype was true, like it was for SV. I really did like this coaster, but roughness and two headache causing rides (doesn't happen to me often) left me from loving it. I want to so bad, but thr last third of the ride just hurt. Did one ride within an hour of opening and the other about two hours before close. Got a front row ride first trip out and then went for a non-wheel second row. Felt the same way both times. To me, I kind of got a Boulder Dash style beating in the last third. That's another coaster I really want to love, but I just can't. I do like it, but again, I just don't love it. Would be cool one day to hopefully hit up a ride or two with you. If I finally get out to Magic Mountain soon, I will let you know. I'm just outside Baltimore, so if you do an East Coast swing again, let me know. I am sure you'll wanna do Jersey Devil and Pantheon.
Ill be back on the east coast soon for Nickelodeon Universe, but will also be there for Jersey Devil next summer. Pantheon may be in the cards for 2021

I got the BEST ejector air I think I have ever experienced in the back seat going down the first drop when I rode this last September, rode it twice in a row after and sadly didn't experience it again. It must've been the weight or something but it can happen.
I would disagree on how rough it is. I rode this 9 times in a row and only Stoppard because the park closed. However i am more than 10 years younger than you so I get that it might take more out of you. Compared to Hades 360 this thing is so smooth that words can’t describe it
This is by far my favorite coaster I’ve ridden, #1 out of 257. I believe that unless there is some insane ride overseas that absolutely shocks me, (eejanaika, dododonpa, coaster through the clouds, etc...), this is probably the best coaster in the world, and Holiwood nights only turns that up to 11.
Voyage is #8, and my #3 woodie. I kind of forget how good it is, so I think it can move up to my #3 if I get back there next year. I only have 48 credits so I think it can easily climb up.
I love wooden coasters but I’ve never found Voyage to be that great. It’s unique and is paced well, but the “most airtime” thing is just a lie at this point. It MAYBE has 2-3 seconds of weak floater and that’s it. Honestly each time I ride it, it drops lower in my wood coaster ratings. I’d even put Legend above it.
@warallthetime Definitely. Way more airtime, smoother, and actually forceful. Voyage really doesn't have any force minus the weak floater on a couple hills. Even Beast has some great laterals and positive g's in the helix and some of the other turns. I'd definitely put Beast, El Toro, and Mystic Timbers above Voyage.
The spaghetti bowl has better airtime than the return trip but the drop and the first 2 hills were more sustained than the spaghetti bowl. I rode in June 2016 and July 2018
I love the voyage like I love El Toro. However, if I don’t lose my big fat stomach, I can’t ride these comfortably. El Toro is the worst for my big stomach and that restraint. The voyage is easier on the trains, but I don’t blame the ride for my rough rides, I blame the fact that I’m out of shape I need to do something about it. El Toro is my second favorite wood coaster after Lightning Rod. The Voyage is my number 3 woodie, then The Beast.
You shouldn’t have to ride a ride two out of 365 days in a year for it to be “best in the world” It should always run like that if it doesn’t, I don’t count it.. rankings should be opinionated but overall rides on different days. Not just one weekend without trims 😂😂
you also need to ride a ride a good amount of times to really have a decent feel of what it's really like. all these coaster enthusiasts judging coasters after riding like 10 times at most really don't mean anything to me. then you got the enthusiasts comparing the same seat on two different trains and proclaiming how one is a night and day difference over the other. gtfo. lol

My top 50 from Dec 2018 is still pretty accurate. I moved some stuff around but honestly havent ridden a single new coaster in 2019 that cracks the list
The Voyage is my #1 wood, just barely above Lightning Rod. It's #8 out of 385 coasters I've ridden. It would be higher overall if I didn't mind the roughness of most wood coasters. I'm 50 years old and woodies are not as much fun as when I was 25, you feel it days later! However my first ride on it was last year, so you know it had to be outstanding for me to rank it so high. I've gotten over 200 new credits since that first ride on Voyage, and only a few coasters have jumped ahead of it in my overall rankings. Waiting for West Coast Racers to open probably in November to hit Magic Mountain (first time since 2000) and Knott's for the first time. Knott's will be the first day and MM will be the second. #400 will be either Twisted Colossus or X2, which sounds better? I was going to wait for Orion to open at KI to hit #400, but I had the chance to go to a few other parks in the last month, which got me too close to that magic number. It would be cool to say hi to you at your homepark, Airtime or maybe even ride #400 with you? It would top off a wild 18 months getting 250 new credits! (Steel Vengeance was #150 in May 2018.)
All those camera are bad, they kill your back like there's no tomorrow, now if they put in a bigger back support it would be better. I rode all the coasters there once, never again. Thunderbird is another story though lol.
You only care about ejector airtime. laterals are better! Why? Laterals are more intense than air time airtime's lame to me. So I prefer floater, and this is the best coaster. Also PTC trains give the most room of any train on any coaster. Sorry I get really ticked off cause you coaster enthusiasts only care about ejector.

We rode it 27 times over three trips in 2019. Holiwood Nights is a must do in 2020.
I was there this summer and was surprised how nice of a park it was good times.
The voyage is by far my favorite wooden rollercoaster. The airtime is not the best on voyage outside the triple down but what makes this coaster rock is the laterals and it’s mild roughness. The banks uphill are sensational as you are constantly thrown to each side of the train . Now I like a rough wooden coaster that maybe not for everyone but I enjoy some classic wooden roughness. The length makes this quite the enjoyable ride at night along with the use of the terrains
The Voyage is G.O.A.T for me. I cant wait for your video after Holiwood nights 😁. This coaster has no cons IMO, but love the video breakdown. You really feel the airtime at night cause you cant see it happening. However the airtime isn't strong, but it's there throughout. Roughness? I heard prior to 2019 the last 1/3 was bad. They retrack it prior to 2019. I cant wait for this coaster to change your mind after your 1st nightride. I think it cracks your top 10 after HWN. Once again excellent breakdown.
That return trip was the worst part for me so if that was fixed I can see why it would be just fine now
I am definitely planning to do HoliWood Nights next year. I have never visited this park, and Voyage is one of my most anticipated coasters for next year. I do wish that it had the Timberliners, but there might be a reason for that. I love that Hades 360 had the Timberliners, and it has great use of terrain too, but it's also a bit rough.
The Voyage is my favorite wooden roller coaster. Nice review! I do agree that timberline trains would have been awesome for The Voyage.
The experience varies, I just went and they had a fresh layer of grease on the tracks (you could see the globs on either side of the track marks) and almost every hill was ejector air except in the front.
I rode the Voyage today. We went for the back row like usual. First drop was great but after that the issues started. The wheel assembly is running WAY too loose. It felt like there was 2-3 inches of give at all times. For some enthusiasts this might be something they dig but for me it was a major major disappoinment. Non stop jackhammering throughout the ride. Walked off not wanting to give it another go today. Something is not right.

Id say that the air time is really different day to day or even ride to ride in the same seat. I remember on my trip this year my morning rides were underwhelming, but by about 2 or 3 it had gotten cooking
Thank God they are retracking parts of it this off season. Went on it for the first time last month and year it was an amazing coaster, and it was, and also heard it was rough, and it was lol. That being said if it was smoother I would place it in front of El Toro being the best.
The Voyage is my #2 coaster out of 178 (Steel Vengeance is #1). I rode Lightning Rod last year, and it honestly underwhelmed me a bit. I rode Toro this year, which it was tough to choose that or Voyage, but I chose Voyage because its much longer, and Toro to me feels like a world class 1 trick pony. Voyage to me gives a much stronger sense of speed, great laterals, and while I agree the airtime is not its strongest trait, I felt it more this year. Also, I thought it ran significantly better this year than the last 2 years I have ridden it, way smoother, and the intensity picked up a bit imo.
Yeah I heard the return trip was retracked after 2018, and that was the most painful part for me so Im looking forward to next year with a lot more of it retracked

@Alexis Leblanc-Dussault when I said one trick pony, the main spoken about elements are airtime based, albeit best airtime I've ever experienced which is why it's so high in my rankings. I guess you also have that nice set of tight turns at the end as well. The reason I like Voyage more is that it's action packed throughout whereas Toro packs in 4 of the best airtime moments ever, but they're at the front and end of the ride separated by a somewhat underwhelming middle
I rode it recently in 2019 and it was the roughest coaster I’ve ever been on and the only air time I got is from the roughness bouncing me around 2/10 for me🙁 it’s number 120 out of 214 coasters I’ve been on

@@AirtimeThrills really? I didn't experience that at all. On my visit, this was order of roughness (least to most): Raven, Legend, Voyage.

@@AirtimeThrills The entrance and exit out of the water park turnaround on Legend are brutal, but I would say the rest of the ride is smoother than Voyage (not that I found Voyage particularly rough). Pretty sure those 2 spots weren't touched when GCI did the overhaul so that would explain it.
I cannot think of anything I disliked about The Voyage. It’s perfect.
This is a coaster I need to reride very badly. I visited Holiday World in 2015 and I considered this my number one overall until Steel Vengeance kicked it out in 2018. It slipped to number four after my June trip and I feel like Voyage probably would not overtake my 2 and 3, but it would either stay at 4 I think, possibly slip one spot or two. But I just don't remember the ride well enough to say for sure. Who knows, maybe it would move back up.
You bring up great points, many of which I also discuss in my review. It was pretty rough and I was definitely pretty underwhelmed by the quality of the airtime.
Pretty much exactly what I was thinking after riding. Although no mixed feelings for me on Toro>Voyage. Close but no contest. I'm glad they are retracking it cos this past August, it was pretty rough except for in row 1. Also, I had no idea Gravity Group came from CCI. That explains alot.

This is my #2 overall coaster behind only Steel Vengeance...granted I only have the coaster count of around 50, and all of my rides came at Holiwood Nights 2020. It may have gone to #1 if it weren't for the PTC trains that bust up my knees while riding it. I definitely think it would benefit if they went to Millennium Flyers.

Yout going to love it. I was a non believer. Even after daytime ride, I was like this is one of the better cosster I been on. But man that break limits the half. No brake night rides is full potential. And its absolutely amazing

Another great video. I really like seeing your points of view. I'm sitting just below 400 credits and I feel like a lot of our opinions line up when I listen to what you have to say.
I got my first rides on this in 2018 during a 3 day trip which included Indiana Beach, Holiday World, and Kentucky Kingdom (all first time visits). The week before I had went to Cedar Point for my first rides on Steel Vengeance and I was in awe. Knowing I'd be getting on Voyage the following week, I figured I would be getting two new top 10 credits if all the hype was true, like it was for SV.
I really did like this coaster, but roughness and two headache causing rides (doesn't happen to me often) left me from loving it. I want to so bad, but thr last third of the ride just hurt. Did one ride within an hour of opening and the other about two hours before close. Got a front row ride first trip out and then went for a non-wheel second row. Felt the same way both times.
To me, I kind of got a Boulder Dash style beating in the last third. That's another coaster I really want to love, but I just can't. I do like it, but again, I just don't love it.
Would be cool one day to hopefully hit up a ride or two with you. If I finally get out to Magic Mountain soon, I will let you know. I'm just outside Baltimore, so if you do an East Coast swing again, let me know. I am sure you'll wanna do Jersey Devil and Pantheon.
Ill be back on the east coast soon for Nickelodeon Universe, but will also be there for Jersey Devil next summer. Pantheon may be in the cards for 2021

I got the BEST ejector air I think I have ever experienced in the back seat going down the first drop when I rode this last September, rode it twice in a row after and sadly didn't experience it again. It must've been the weight or something but it can happen.
I would disagree on how rough it is. I rode this 9 times in a row and only Stoppard because the park closed. However i am more than 10 years younger than you so I get that it might take more out of you. Compared to Hades 360 this thing is so smooth that words can’t describe it
This is by far my favorite coaster I’ve ridden, #1 out of 257. I believe that unless there is some insane ride overseas that absolutely shocks me, (eejanaika, dododonpa, coaster through the clouds, etc...), this is probably the best coaster in the world, and Holiwood nights only turns that up to 11.

Voyage is #8, and my #3 woodie. I kind of forget how good it is, so I think it can move up to my #3 if I get back there next year. I only have 48 credits so I think it can easily climb up.

I love wooden coasters but I’ve never found Voyage to be that great. It’s unique and is paced well, but the “most airtime” thing is just a lie at this point. It MAYBE has 2-3 seconds of weak floater and that’s it. Honestly each time I ride it, it drops lower in my wood coaster ratings. I’d even put Legend above it.

@warallthetime Definitely. Way more airtime, smoother, and actually forceful. Voyage really doesn't have any force minus the weak floater on a couple hills. Even Beast has some great laterals and positive g's in the helix and some of the other turns. I'd definitely put Beast, El Toro, and Mystic Timbers above Voyage.

The spaghetti bowl has better airtime than the return trip but the drop and the first 2 hills were more sustained than the spaghetti bowl. I rode in June 2016 and July 2018

I love the voyage like I love El Toro. However, if I don’t lose my big fat stomach, I can’t ride these comfortably. El Toro is the worst for my big stomach and that restraint. The voyage is easier on the trains, but I don’t blame the ride for my rough rides, I blame the fact that I’m out of shape I need to do something about it. El Toro is my second favorite wood coaster after Lightning Rod. The Voyage is my number 3 woodie, then The Beast.

you also need to ride a ride a good amount of times to really have a decent feel of what it's really like. all these coaster enthusiasts judging coasters after riding like 10 times at most really don't mean anything to me. then you got the enthusiasts comparing the same seat on two different trains and proclaiming how one is a night and day difference over the other. gtfo. lol

The Voyage + Buzz Bars = Bon Voyage
The Voyage is my #1 wood, just barely above Lightning Rod. It's #8 out of 385 coasters I've ridden. It would be higher overall if I didn't mind the roughness of most wood coasters. I'm 50 years old and woodies are not as much fun as when I was 25, you feel it days later! However my first ride on it was last year, so you know it had to be outstanding for me to rank it so high. I've gotten over 200 new credits since that first ride on Voyage, and only a few coasters have jumped ahead of it in my overall rankings. Waiting for West Coast Racers to open probably in November to hit Magic Mountain (first time since 2000) and Knott's for the first time. Knott's will be the first day and MM will be the second. #400 will be either Twisted Colossus or X2, which sounds better? I was going to wait for Orion to open at KI to hit #400, but I had the chance to go to a few other parks in the last month, which got me too close to that magic number. It would be cool to say hi to you at your homepark, Airtime or maybe even ride #400 with you? It would top off a wild 18 months getting 250 new credits! (Steel Vengeance was #150 in May 2018.)

You only care about ejector airtime. laterals are better! Why? Laterals are more intense than air time airtime's lame to me. So I prefer floater, and this is the best coaster. Also PTC trains give the most room of any train on any coaster. Sorry I get really ticked off cause you coaster enthusiasts only care about ejector.
