@DaveDavis-ml5icthey cut the retreat short and came home early… and if they fled 8-12 hours after the “incident” and she was only reported missing to authorities 24 hours after, then they had already fled the country.
@DaveDavis-ml5ic The retreat was supposed to end on 10/20 and they were supposed to leave either the 20 or 21. It’s on the yogi’s website. She went missing 10/19. They left hours after she went missing.
I'm native of Guatemala, this lake is absolutely beautiful but it's dangerous because it's very deep and in the late afternoon hours it's known for areas with very strong currents. Many years ago a couple of tourists including a local guide went missing while on a boat tour and they were never found. The cayaking company should know this and warn people of the rapid currents as they go deeper in the lake and it's beyond me that Nancy appears not to be wearing a life jacket as they are leaving.
I think it's important to highlight that it is very probable that everyone involved with the yoga retreat/the accident was a tourist or not actually from Guatemala. People love to point out how dangerous Guatemala is, but Lake Atitlán is hardly a crime hotspot and it's not a really a "remote" area. I am very sorry for this family's suffering and hope she is found.
I totally think that this could be the case but I just can’t understand why the group would just leave like that. It’s one thing to witness it alone and be afraid and not report but when you have so many people involved you wonder why they would be even more reluctant to come forward if no crime was committed. Since everyone will be their own alibi
@@Pearnarrative One of the comments below seemed to make the most sense, they didn't want to deal with being detained in a foreign country. I think it's awful that they have been so uncooperative and it only adds to the speculation.
Every person in that yoga group, especially the leader, should be absolutely ashamed. How can anyone with any conscience at all leave a family guessing like this?
Isla Verde held the retreat. They are owned by Sofia and Riley. Their space held the yoga group that was founded by the person tagged in 10/2022 photos. Isla Verde is deleting all comment s relating to Nancy. The yoga retreat leader has removed all content from last month’s trip.
@@TravisDoesKayakFishing What I find strange is that no one is coming forward to tell the authorities what happened to this woman. Maybe there was criminal activity.
@@sharonsolanaright? The other lady returned, and the first thing she did was pack her stuff and flee the country (didn’t even pay) and refuse to tell investigators what happened. That’s the dodgy part. Not that Ng potentially drowned in an accident. Honestly, I suspect foul play from the lady. Because why on Earth wouldn’t she talk to investigators OR alert the coast guard of an accident when she came back by herself. It’s just highly abnormal behaviour that doesn’t scream innocence. Only thing I find weird is that the WHOLE group has kept their moves shut and fled. That’s messed up
@peppercorn8451 foul play as in tried to save her life and didn't want to take the blame for them not wearing life vests? Yeah maybe. Most likely the kayak had an accident and Nancy drowned for only wearing a bikini.
I’ve been to that Lake a good 8 times. I almost drowned once, and the only reason why I didn’t was because I was wearing a a life jacket. The current under that lake is no joke, and it pulls you out of nowhere. The other time I went, they pulled someone out because they downed while swimming without a life jacket. But the “witness” is acting very strange.
The "witness" sounds guilty. If she had nothing to do with the disappearance or the accident, then why wouldn't she come forward? Why wouldn't she have asked for help when she seemed distressed from leaving the water. Something sounds incredibly misleading.
They had called for help…she said when they got the “survivor” from the water she was distressed. She meaning the “survivor”. One needs to speak to the “survivor” because she was the last one with her.
Its obvious. They are trying to cover up Ng's likely drowning. My guess is Ng drowned, the girl she was out with in the water wasn't able to save her. And then the whole group burned off and left the country.
This is what happens on Mount Everest and K2. If someone falls ill, the other climbers just walk over you and head for the top and then they head back down to recover and celebrate without caring for anyone injured or fallen. It’s absolutely brutal what goes on!
@@TheQueensWish : Everest and K2, sure, because it's extremely burdensome and dangerous to bring back the bodies, and of 1000 people who tried to summit, maybe only 5 makes it while this is a calm kayaking river.
They all probably panicked. Alerting authorities in a foreign country is pretty scary. There’s different legal procedures. They were probably all terrified of landing in a Guatemalan jail.
I was literally kayaking in this lake last year. Crazy all this stuff happened. I had a beautiful experience, I was telling everybody to visit. Didn’t get a SINGLE hint of shady people or sketchy areas. The worst thing about Guatemala are honestly the roads because they are so small and old but other than that it’s paradise. That lake is huge but it’s also very busy lots of boats going back and forth carrying passengers. Crazy how no one saw anything.
That yoga tour group is in big trouble. They definitely know something but aren't talking. My guess is Ng drowned, the lady she was with couldn't save her. And the whole group burned off and left the country early to avoid the heat from Guatemalan law enforcement.
could've reported it and got help to at least recover the body. instead, they look extremely suspicious of foul play. either way they should show some sort of human compassion (they are these yoga nutjobs that care about peace and living life ironically)
Once the rental owners discovered only nine came back, why didn't they contact the police that same evening to report a kayaker was missing? The owner says the last kayaker returned was visibly distraught. If they sensed something was wrong, why did they not take immediate action on the missing person? That could have included taking a motorized boat out to find her. Why did it take 24 hours to notify authorities, as had been previously reported? For the yoga group members that left the next day, was that already planned, or did they up and leave the country early? Some of these questions could have been posed in this interview.
Exactly! And even if the rental owners cares nothing for the kayakers, wouldn’t they care that they’re missing a kayak? That’s their property and livelihood.
@@redstarseed514 Yes, still lots of questions here. The owner claims to have discovered the yoga group members left the country when she called their hotel to seek payment. Is this customary business practice? It's a short kayaking excursion, not purchase of inventory. I would think payment is made BEFORE use of the kayaks, or at least upon return to shore. Doubtful, but was the yoga group actually based in Guatemala? Reporter says a distressed signal was called. If the remaining two kayakers were outside of visibility, and the remaining eight had already returned, how was the signal communicated? Owner says everyone clammed up, implying they were hiding something. Again, why would the other eight kayakers behave in this manner if they had returned prior to the last two drifting off? If everyone had returned to shore, suggesting the trip was wrapping up, it doesn't make sense that the remaining two would continue paddling further away from shore.
@@tylerd8245 We need to know more about the conditions. It did not look sunny in the video footage. Conditions can change fast on a lake. Did fog set in? Did Nancy and the other kayak of the distressed witness collide in the fog?? Is that the impact that cause Nancy to enter the water?? Only the witness and the group can know this. We only know the water was described as choppy. Perhaps something in the water frightened Nancy and she tried to stand up?? Maybe to see where the shore line was and she tipped out? I doubt she wanted to swim in the water. That makes no sense to me.

The Kayak company is speaking out after 3 WEEKS of the disappearance? Enough time to get their story straight? they admit they never saw Nancy come back from the excursion. They admit that they didn’t pay for the excursion and the others left the country? And just now they’re speaking out? And they refer to the other girl as the SURVIVOR - implying that Nancy is gone, because they know what happened. Everyone here is guilty. If she really just drowned by HERSELF then no one will be charged but the actions of the group speaks volumes that it was not the case. If she really drown then all they has to do is called for help and gives location but first thing they think about is coming back to the US ( to get their lawyers most likely ). Sad that her family might never know what happened because they clearly don’t have a case or evidence to prove anything but other people being there.
that's so suspicious. they left without paying and didn't even alert anyone that someone in the group was missing. don't rental companies ask for payment or deposit ahead of time to prevent something like this from happening? oh yea, that "witness" is definitely guilty. someone should find out who that witness is. maybe enough pressure from the public will make her come forward
This reminds of another recent tragedy that happened in Mexico. A young lady traveled with a group of friends. One of the friends attacked her. They called a hotel doctor. They did not want the friend to be taken by ambulance. The young lady died. The group of friends took off and returned to the US by the following day. This case reminds of the same. This young lady disappears while kayaking with her yoga group. No one in the group gets help and they flee the country the next day. This is all very suspicious.
There's no imaginable scenario in which the behavior of the Yoga group and the witness can be justified. The only speculation I can possibly imagine is where the lady drowned, the witness returned in a panic and told the group what happened and then they all panicked, agreed to talk to no one and left the country. Extremely difficult to imagine a group behaving that way, and of course criminally irresponsible. I sure hope there's a better explanation.
So these people weren’t wearing life vests? If not, why weren’t they ? This is sad. And for the group to leave within 8 hours of their colleague gone missing is disgusting.
I have also asked about life vests. The reporter should have asked the Kayak representatives if all of the girls were wearing life vests. Why doesn’t anyone ask this simple, basic question??????
@@TheQueensWish May be it was something like we offer them to everyone but they didn't take one or didn't want that. So they probably did ask but the answer is not something they want to advertise
This is so strange. You'd figure the kayak company or yoga group would've notified search and rescue pretty early on. Seems like there'd be pretty obvious signs that would set off your alarm bells like a missing kayak or her sudden disappearance. No one acted. No one is coming forward to help.
It’s very suspicious. I had a bad experience with a river trip, something very similar but it was in the US and they did dump me at a hospital before they went wine tasting.

My question is what happened to Nancy’s belongings such as luggage, suitcase, personal items because she must have stayed somewhere in some place. How come there are no questions about that?
I know. How selfish can people be? To only think about yourself when someone is missing and possibly dead. When their family and love ones are out there going crazy with worry. How can you be okay with that? How can you sleep at night?
So weird? If it were a tragic accident, wouldn't the people who were with Nancy run over to the kyak company and ask for help? And to report what happened? Rather than just leave? And if you rent a kayak, don't you have to talk to the company upon check out? Last I know, the yoga retreat company hasn't spoken to the family. So much for love and light when it's really needed. I would love to know the name of the company and make sure not to give them my business.
My theory here, feel free to challenge it. If she had a medical emergency and suddenly passed out, fell off the kayak unconscious and disappeared immediately into the water; this scenario would clear everyone else of any wrongdoing and they would all cooperate with whatever information they had. So why is everyone refusing to cooperate? Because they were all participating in an illegal activity at the time of the accident; perhaps they were all high on psychedelic drugs. People that are willing to travel to a yoga retreat in a remote wilderness area in a foreign country are into hippie trippy things like "unlocking vibrations and frequencies to heal and connecting with the universe, etc". Many believe that psychedelic drugs can "open their mind" to these things. She overdosed or had a bad reaction, it could have been an interaction a prescription drug in her system, or she simply became disoriented from the drug, or incoherent, or unconscious and fell of the kayak and drowned. Everyone else was too high to respond to the emergency adequately. Paranoia and self-preservation took over and they decided they wouldn't risk going to prison in a foreign country so they all rushed to go home and didn't even pay for the kayaks. They ran away as fast as possible which indicates they were all participants in something that carries legal consequences. If there were no drugs involved and she truly just experienced an unfortunately timed medical emergency and fell off and drowned, why would everyone else flee so desperately and refuse to cooperate? Because they were all in the possession of illegal substances and they would all fail a drug test upon an investigation and they feared legal consequences from trafficking drugs to possession, consumption, and even manslaughter. In a foreign country to make it worse.
The fact that the media keeps twisting the facts around is astonishing. The yoga group has been in contact with local authorities, US embassy, and the family. They provided photos and videos directly to the family. The family was contacted directly by the yoga instructor who let them know that she drowned. Its so unfortunate that they have yet to recover her body but this all needs to stop - everyone is traumatized.
You seem privy to information the rest of us do not have. So answer this: Nancy could not drown unless she was in the water. She was last seen in the video in her kayak. Now a kayak is not something that you stand up in or leave to “go for a swim” in the middle of a deep lake. So how did Nancy leave her boat and end up in the water? How?? Why was there no life jackets? Did Nancy capsize in her Kayak what would cause that to occur? A wave?? I do not understand how she entered the water??
@@TheQueensWish why are you so snarky? The person commenting here is correct. Are you a kayaker? I've actually tipped out of my kayak and it is also possible to get out and swim intentionally.

These horrible people bailed as soon as they could to dodge any possible responsibility. They need to be detained and interrogated as suspects until they tell the truth.
If the yoga instructor is running even a semi-legitimate business, then that entity (or even solo proprietor) should be identified through the media. Public pressure and public shaming is sometimes the only thing that will work.

This scenario of the witness who last saw Nancy & tour guide who are not cooperating with authorities to not give their statement about the whereabouts of Nancy or to help authorities find her but instead skipped out of a hotel bill and fly out of the country knowing that Nancy is missing, reminds me of the Gabby Petito story. Remember how Gabby’s boyfriend killed her and avoided texts/calls from her family, took Gabby’s vehicle/van and drove it to his parents home and still did not notify Gabby’s family or authorities that Gabby was missing until days later. The tour guide and the witness as well as the rest of the people on that ‘so-called’ yoga retreat are suspicious. Also, what did they do with Nancy’s belongings/ luggage and purse with her personal information as well as money or credit cards 💳?
That "Yoga" company is highly highly suspicious . Was it a set up ? Did they arrange for Nancy to be taken by Human Traffickers for a big pay day ? Was the woman who was with her the designated escort ? The water didn't look rough at all in the footage . The Yoga company could totally be a front for nefarious activities. That woman and the owners of the "Yoga" company need to be interrogated and polygraphed.

Why weren't they concerned when she didn't return and all go out as a group to look for her? Why did they high tail it out of there first thing the next morning, didn't report it as a drowning and didn't pay the kayak company ? Something sounds fishy with the group, innocent people with no knowledge would not flee the scene. Maybe fight/argument broke out where someone punched her causing her to fall unconscious into the water.. something along those lines. This is why the witnesses don't want to speak.
Thats a incredibly hard lake to swom in especially in the afternoon super choppy and dangerous. I got super tired swimming on the side near a boat. Super exhausting water even for the best of swimmers.
From what im hearing this so called “yoga retreat” is nothing but sham. The people who rented that hotel with yng should be prosecuted. The towns people who own that hotel weren’t payed and they didn’t get the chance to speak with the tourist probably becuase they wanted to leave as soon as possible without interaction. I’m from Guatemala and I visit every year and we Guatemalans tend to avoid suspicious people. We are very timid and we trust our companions to pay back what we gave. Im guessing these people rushed out without warning. We Guatemalans work very hard for what we have even if its small the people must have been busy doing something since those people weren’t suppose to check out until later date.
Very strange reaction of that tourist group, they have a missing member, they don't report it to authorities and then just leave the country like fugitives.
I hate how this Kayak business is owned by some random couple that is not even from there. They should get absolutely scrutinized for not even having basic safety measures.
What took them so long to speak? Why is anybody else wants to talk? There were others kayaking with her, if the waters were choppy, the others made it and she didn’t… this is way too suspicious…
My teenage daughter went kayaking with her school group on a small lake and she told me she was struggling a little bit trying to maneuver the kayak and she has very limited swimming experience. When she got home and told me, my hair stood on ends because I thought WTH would they allow the kids to do that. Kayaking and choppy water definitely don’t mix. There’s something about this story sounds fishy!
The irony of a yoga group, a group trying to “unite” with the Good, the light, awareness, acting like an evil cult without any intention to help ease the suffering of an entire family. The irony! They need to arrest the guide and the girl who was with her. The Guatemalan government needs help from the US on this.
Terribly sad. I've always thought companies doing these sorts of sport adventure tours should have a rescue boat if bad things happen. And keep a closer eye on their customers.
They aren't 'witness'. They are clearly suspects from their actions. Only criminals flee from the scene. If they were normal witness they could have at least informed the police immediately or the kayak owners immediately.

@@JoeyTrejo10 Yeah this place is exclusive for tourism and very few locals vacation there. Mostly affluent locals.
I totally think that this could be the case but I just can’t understand why the group would just leave like that. It’s one thing to witness it alone and be afraid and not report but when you have so many people involved you wonder why they would be even more reluctant to come forward if no crime was committed. Since everyone will be their own alibi

The "witness" sounds guilty. If she had nothing to do with the disappearance or the accident, then why wouldn't she come forward? Why wouldn't she have asked for help when she seemed distressed from leaving the water. Something sounds incredibly misleading.
A bit suspect, but then again they have no legal obligation to do so at the moment so fair play
They had called for help…she said when they got the “survivor” from the water she was distressed. She meaning the “survivor”. One needs to speak to the “survivor” because she was the last one with her.

That yoga tour group is in big trouble. They definitely know something but aren't talking. My guess is Ng drowned, the lady she was with couldn't save her. And the whole group burned off and left the country early to avoid the heat from Guatemalan law enforcement.

There's no imaginable scenario in which the behavior of the Yoga group and the witness can be justified. How in the heck could you keep quiet after something like that happening?! Where is the humanity??
I know. How selfish can people be? To only think about yourself when someone is missing and possibly dead. When their family and love ones are out there going crazy with worry. How can you be okay with that? How can you sleep at night?
It is particularly odd that all 9 people in the group would collectively leave the country after something like this happened.
If someone was with her that made it back "distressed"... why doesnt that person have any clues to share what happened?
Imagine your loved one is gone and people directly involved simply refuse to say anything. It’s maddening. Start charging them.
The rental company should have some of the names or hopefully all of the names they rented the Kayak to.
Hope they are able to track them down.
Unfortunately u gotta put her face online that'll pressure her to speak
