Hearing those stories about Ana makes me love OG even more. I seriously hope the T1 stint hasn't crushed him and Topson's been able to go "it's not you Ana, you're perfect
Amazing podcast. The informal and organize nature of it was great with a guest that is actually an old teammate of Synderen’s. I never knew or cared much about Ceb’s first few years as a pro (since his teams were never very successful at TI) but it really sounds like many of these failures and setbacks he has experienced have been such big formative experiences for him that helped propel him and OG to their later successes. I work in the professional sports space and have seen many coaches and players who had great skill and even accolades but lacked empathy and self awareness and it made them poor leaders that could only win once or twice and cannot sustain it with different teammates, coaches, or conditions. Very few really have the experience, skill, drive, empathy and self-knowledge to be able to build winning teams consistently. I know it is a meme that the “Ceb teamtalk” can boost any team’s morale but when I hear him speak about all of the different experiences he has had, it is clear to me that he is one of the rare few who has it all. If it isn’t return to competitive play, I hope he still does something with the competitive side of teams and team-building because he is clearly one of the very best at it. And I don’t just mean in Dota or esports because maybe he at a point where he is considering branching out beyond the game of Dota. I have worked professionally with many coaches, sports psych and players with great pedigree that lack the substance in coaching and playing philosophy that he has.
daamn, honestly, first of all, super good advice from Ceb so far(1:19:00), second, really didnt expect this to turn into relationship advice for normal(ish) people, more or less xD
Easily your best podcast episode. Only thing I would've liked more is if you asked a bit about the new OG roster -- how they are coping after the loss, what they think went wrong, etc.
Really great episode. Would love to have more player insights. I think its amazing how SUNSfan and synd are able to let players feel more comfortable to talk. And the podcast being longer lets the players who are willing to talk go into these amazing stories which im sure many of us dota fans are really looking forward to. Hope we say things is able to get more of these players on esp w TI ending, some players will be able to afford the time maybe. And its crazy how charismatic CEB is.
24:50 Unreal. This 'Kbap' guy sounds like all the bad teammates, griefers, courier feeders, delusional, narcissistic, "I am more important than you" mentality guy I have ever known or had the displeasure of knowing. It gives me peace of mind that his career so far ended on 2015, and both Synd and Ceb are successful and happy. Thank God.
He was one of the best German players at at time, but he was very notorious for being super toxic. Kinda like Black^ back in the day. As Ceb said, he probably had some personal IRL issues that he kinda projected into how he was as a pro player. Personally, I think it's a good sign that he quit dota and is hopefully persuing something that gives him something fulfilling in life, because that might be a sign that he got over whatever issues he had.
@@thej4ck That is true. I just had PTSD from the bad teammates Ive had. Especially the notorious 'I don't care about anyone else but myself' players that singlehandedly throw away a free win because of their ego. Hope this German dude has a better life now as well as being a better person.
This was a beautiful episode, thanks for the amazing insight into your previous dota2 teams and mindset of dota2 players being different even though they are on the same team and equally as successful!
Funny, if I remember correctly, the alternative choice to MVP Phoenix OG had when picking their first series in TI6, some Chinese Barhouse (?) Ceb calls it, was Wings. Safe to say that he's right that they were much stronger.
Love the ep! Ceb is the best! I do feel like he was just blamingg Saksa on the ti10 run, but who knows. He knows better for sure. Just thought saksa was play after play doing god tier moves. Godson is my fave player, but those od mid picks really dint help... :( Was really hoping for a threepeat. But with Ceb's genius, i believe theycan still do it! Just hope releases a super big patch taht will make notail get hyped again!
“We have nothing to lose, once again. We came here, we should already be so proud of what we’re doing you know. So don’t think about anything. At the end of the story, it’s been written already, it’s us winning.” - Ceb No copy pasta pls
This is the first episode I have watched/listened to despite being a very long-time Dota fan (I have watched every International), and it was absolutely epic. Time for me to go back into the archives... (and f*ck the Lakers)
They must be remembering the kebap stuff wrong. I looked up the game and there was no haste first blood and kebap's veno didnt look like it was griefing.
Ceb started surprisingly late with dota, which probably explains why he wasn't so impressive during his first years of competitive dota. Most top players from that era had previous experience from competitive wc3 dota or HoN. Then again kinda impressive that he became known in the scene so quickly.
Amazing episode. Hard not to have a deep respect for Ceb. The guy is a genius and has such a great understanding of humans psychology. I feel like life is a powerful teacher and Ceb is a good learner. His knowledge is probably deeper than psychology majors. Super interesting to listen to this. Thank you
McDonalds is great, but I will still always take a Chef's steak instead. Huge upsets, eliminations, matches, but a shame that people have no time to actually process what has happened.
1:52:00 You must not know about CS:GO Synderen… Nothing new for Valve to treat DotA like the favourite child but still, in CS they have been *extremely* disconnected from the reality of matchfixing plaguing the entire Tier-2/3 scene for years and have refused to provide resources of any kind to ESIC (integrity commission) for them to have The manpower to investigate and ban cheaters/fixers.

check out the monkey business show that went live after the day 4 of ti, both synderen and susfan were there and ceb as well aswering this question.
So many life lesson and fun story man, great episode. Ceb super eloquent and charming, love this guy.

i'm liking these collabs with OG
Interesting to hear about that TI6 OG line up, in my book the most dominating team I've seen. Maybe with 2020 Secret
Man two hours with Ceb the GOAT is PogChamp
These podcasts always have been and are still amazing and super insightful. Freaking love the guest segments too, always so good and in depth!
ceb sounds like he's been eager to tell all these stories but never had the chance to
Oh man, this is the first time I watched a whole episode. Feels good.
Love long form, deep conversations. Even more when it's about my favorite eSport. Thanks for providing the content valve won't!
Was pretty surprised to hear my question on the episode with Ceb lol. Thanks for the thought-out answers though.

Ceb is like the strategic part of the brain while notail is the emotional part.
It's funny how similar Ceb and Notail are speaking. Their melody is almost identical. Very cute.
That was the best way to end the podcast! Haha!
Ceb you should have your own podcast, so many stories to tell
