The Bots and Bombing in Fighters is getting completely out of hand as of late. US Air is entirely unplayable above BR 4.0+, US has always been bad but this is beyond that.

Air and ground I was a US main after being a 19k for many years. Now it's filled with window licking 1 pump chumps that have no business being at top tier since they do not have a lineup.

@limo2397 it's really a fix, the problem was that you were also awarded for individual hits. So hypothetically if it was possible, FIVE THOUSAND of 1Lb bombs would do more damage than 1x 5000lb bomb. By a lot.

They said they were taking away lion gains for more RP gain, and then made it so it was more Pay into getting exp meaning that research is hot useless to F2P users. I personally see this as a stab in the ass as this was all faction wide. There was an issue of Chinese players running bot accounts in order to grind the game. Its been bad and noticable since the chinese servers shut down 2 years back, they added naval when they did that and Naval had a group following, then suddenly cruiser and DD bots appeared on the non-shut down servers and just made the game pain. Worst part was as the early on premium cruisers and DDs were getting molested cause the bots would just drive at the objectives blasting away, they kept having to increase secondary and Anti-Aircraft arms against planes and small boats to fix the fact the "Players" were dieing a lot in them. That took maybe 2 weeks. After that Naval has been dead as its mostly Bots slinging hate at anything within its gun range, uncontested as anything that might kill them is basically countered in blue water with there existence.
This was great by most people as they didn't see a worry of it, but then they started running program scripts and removing foliage and clouds and many other things. They removed night maps from WW2 (thank god) purely because people were running gamma tweak mods to see like you had night vision in WW2. This was causing weird issues and BR changes for a bit (Removal of night map was basically the best option). Its unfair to be blaming the "Bots" to be players instead of banning them just because the pay for premiums while the regular players get there shit stomped due to poor matchmaking rigging (Lets face it, newer players get fucked in there new BR facing higher skilled players, and Giajins answer was to tell everyone to just play better instead of having a proper matchmaking system to push people to there proper brackets. Now there are a lot of things that happen as people have readily access to the same shit that the bot accounts started using and it shows when people turn off things like hit-boxes with mods and scripts. Its not cheating directly as normal people think, but getting cross mapped threw the woods in a WW2 tank because they don't see foliage or bushes is fucking annoying as hell.
Then to spice it up you get paid less for being legit and doing well or poorly? Come on that's horrible. They just want to take advantage of the golden eagles to make more pocket change instead of doing there damn jobs properly. I enjoy the game at times but I feel its very skimp in reality.
This scratches the surface, but you get the idea. I blame MM and the terrible balance that shows from mass player kill/death ratio and win rait skewing results, look at France for example with upteirs in WW2 to face 1980s tanks
I for one personally really like the changes to the rockets damaging bases, because it makes bombers actually usable in matches, instead of fighters destroying bases before you can even get to them, instead of focusing on enemy aircraft, its for that reason I never grind bombers as a result.
didnt really help much, my mig 27m/k(both unspaded and spaded) still stuck where f-4 are still way too fast to catch up especially worse when now it involves 3-8 f-4 flying full bombs every game rather than the 2-3 like it used to, and the base respawn take way longer as everyone took longer to destroy the bases. so if you are too late, you are completely bugger for the a few extra minutes
my method though a bit destructive and follows how gaijin balances the game is to penalize fighter who bomb by reducing total rewards similar to killing bot replacement for players in empty matches.(the game telling you to stop hunting the non primary targets) and similar but inverse for strike aircraft who hunt planes except with a smaller penalty -20% vs -60-80% for fighters who bomb.
there are better ways but given how slow gaijin pushes a large change like variable battle rating.
Considering that I feel that then they should make certain classes of jets get different levels of rewards from destroying bases, with bombers getting the most points, and jet fighters getting the least.

I'm a F4F player this update didn't not affect me at all gaijin nerd small rocket I bring a big ZUNI rocket and 3000P bomb and it cost me 23km/h
It basically only affects the Chinese. Everytime base destruction rewards are nerfed the chinese get pissed because it’s harder for them to get to top tier to sell accounts.
We'd legit have better matches if we quarentined the Chinese players. Their connections are terrible for one,and the majority are just flat out bot accounts.

They're in all tiers now. And the quality of games has dropped tremendously ever since they flooded the rest of the servers.

Yeah, flanking and climbing made this game special, and WOT removed those, and it started to die, so we should probably revolt to get them back
They murdered Sands of Sinai, Maginot line, Sands of Tunisia and regular Tunisia. It just seems like that every map change they bring out just makes the maps BORDERLINE unplayable. I don't like going head into battle with 0 armour tanks, I need some kind of a overlook position to snipe from. But I cant do that anymore. People say they removed the hill from Sinai because it was a braindead part of the map. IF you won the hill you had the better team. Game should be won.

FYI, "Shark arm", similar to "Evil pen", is a homophone to a mean insult that literally meant "stupid pxssy", which is by far the utmost insulting single curse word in Chinese.
"Xylophone" is another homophone that literally means "mother". To curse someone with "Your mother has died" is another extremely vicious offensive in a familial culture in China. To bring the implication even further, the word "orphan" is an euphamistic suggestion that "Your whole family has died out".
Therefore, if when chatting with a Chinese guy and suddenly Google Translate is returning the results "Shark arm", "Orphan" or "You're an orphan", that is probably more insulting than you anticipate. They use the homophone, so if you have no clue, you won't know what gibbrish they are talking about even if you used Google Translate, and thus won't take it too seriously, and won't retaliate back on their curse so they can unilaterally enjoy the fun of cursing.
The Chinese community has some serious beef with BVV_D (Vyacheslav "BVV_d" Bulannikov), the game dev that hosted multiple preview videos for the Russians and Chinese communities, who crashed multiple planes during several live sessions. Combined his poor gaming skills and the reward cuts, he is viewed as the "malicious Cloud Player", (FYI "Cloud" was meant to be like a "Cloud server" or like "iCloud", in which suggests that someone hasn't played the actual game on their PC but played it on the internet "Cloud" chat room and commented pretentious stuffs.)
And Chinese players think BVV_D is intentionally nerfing Chinese vehicles especially the modern ones (cuz that's where it's the most crucial to the self-esteem and national pride for some players.)
The logic is seemingly a conspiracy but logically stands: since they can't get the technical data on most modern Chinese vehicles due to secrecy, it is unlikely for them to find the booklets like other nation players to justify their claims to buff the vehicles. And the developers, namingly BVV_D knows this, and creates hypothetical data that makes the Chinese vehicles look like garbage at least compared to the Russian counterparts. So the conclusion is that BVV_D is looking down on China, and deliberately made Chinese vehicle weak, even after the manual leaks that suggested over 600mm of penetration of DTC10-125 and VT4 with 6.7s reload. And the fact where ZTZ99A can be penetrated through the turret cheeks is "completely an illusion of BVV_D". Because some Chinese official sources claims the RHAe is larger than 1000mm on the turret, but without the technical manual they won't pass the issue even if the source is an interview with a uniformed tank commander in a demonstration trial.
That's the whole story.

It does seem that Gaijin is getting complacent in a lot of things recently. The most impactful (for me at least) is the sad battle pass this season for sure. The RP bonus thing I can take or leave at this point. Rocket bombing bases change, I could care less about. (I recognize everyone has different thoughts on each of those aspects).
What part of the battle pass is the issue? Just curious, I don't buy them.
@@Armcock As I understand it, the battle pass rewards are very underwhelming in terms of vehicles. (a boring Israel SPG, some float plane that'll never get used, and then you can get one of the old coastal boats from a previous battle pass). It just feels like they could have added something unique here. I usually just like getting SL, boosters and backups but I can understand why people are not happy.
@@Armcock It's only two vehicles and a loot box, the plane is kind of 'meh', the tank is a worse VIDAR in EVERY way and will be borderline unusable because it has almost none of its real-world features.

They did ATGMS dirty. It's very hard to play ground ATGM vehicles now and it was a change that no one asked for. I know this was a while ago but I bring it up because no one even plays ATGM carries to do well. Just a gimmick now.

End of the day Gaijin is to blame for that. Pretty sure most players strategy for grinding a new tech tree these days is go buy a top tier premium in that nation and just one-life it all the way until they get a top tier lineup. Miserably slow grind rate just encourages this behaviour.
easiest way to grind is to rush in with a top tier premium maybe get a kill or cap then die and leave. 2 minutes if battle and you already have like 3-5k rp

They've been doing this for years and years. You can give them a report from the US Army that is very clear and Gaijin will just say it isn't enough. Take the M41A1. People have been giving Gaijin reports on how its turret traverse is wrong where the current max is the minimum rate. People pair that with reports giving a five seconds engagement time and Gaijin calls them conflicting and then declares the minimum rate the max and keeps it.
Also bad network. I think there is patter too of bad PL. Usually I get those for successive wins (like 3 wins ARB st top tier) then ill get quickly in a game with 30 PL. Forcing you to die

ZERO reason to take CAS out of GRB, and a number of damn good reasons not to. What needs to happen is increased cost for CAS so n00b#14236 doesn't rush a light tank to a cap or gets one kill, or even gets one scouting assist, then can spawn a fully loaded CAS aircraft. That is just dumb. CAS, like it or not, needs a home...and GRB is that home.
I would also be entirely ok with Lights losing their aircraft spawn bonuses completely in GRB. Arcade? Ok, whatever, don't care. Someone that plays Arcade would be a better person to ask because they have a reason to care. I don't.
In my opinion, it's the map design and the objectives that are the problem. They're too damn small, and the objectives all ammount to "sit in this circle" and many of them basically have no ground clutter to hide in besides small buildings. It's a total shooting gallery for CAS most of the time. They seem to make the least adjustments to the most important thing in any game, that being the gameplay loop. I really wish Gaijin cared more about how their game actually plays, I wouldn't call a game where the entire meta is sitting behind corners cheering third person "esports ready."

It punishes bot hosters, one thing that I don't see mentioned is the dramatic reduction in score farming that has resulted from this change!
It hurts bot hosters in ALL gamemodes AAB, ARB and AEC, Keep at it Gaijin!
but it also hurts stock grinding, you cant now effectively farm bases to unlock air-to-air missiles and some bomber like mig-23bn which has no missiles and flares will suffer even more now.

Battle pass sucks, event sucks, game modes suck, rewards suck, the company sucks, and the maps suck among a wave of other things that suck. The only positive about war thunder is the basement guy. Good job gayjin.
I was asking people ingame if the bombs had been "nerfed" or if it was just me, people either made fun of me or told me they did not know. I mean, I came back to play the game after a relatively long break, and what I noticed was that many times I pinpoint dropped 250kg bombs on enemies just to get their tracks and MGs. Anything heavier than light-tanks survive 90% of my bombs and that drives my crazy. I think I'll take another break to the game.
PS : I wanted to have fun with my giant derp gun Type99, well, it seems like the problem is not just the bombs but the explosives in the game. Like how can anything survive the massive HE shell, especially a fucking Marder-A1 ? The game feels broken that's terrible.

Honestly the only real problem I’ve seen of late is the battle pass and the events, sure the rocket change makes grinding harder but it also makes sense since bombers should actually be viable instead of some gremlin in a fighter rocketing. But overall I think the game is in a healthy state aside from the EXTREMELY lack luster events. But aside from that the changes make sense and aren’t out of pure greed like last year. I understand that the Chinese community is mad about the server changes because that does genuinely sucks for their servers to be shutdown especially with people with slower internet. I don’t know much about the rules about games in china and their internet overall so I don’t know the extent these changes have effected them. But personally recently I’ve had a lot of fun playing war thunder as a whole. That has more to do that I’ve been playing with friends and such but honestly the air grind is not that hard. In a single day I got from 3.3 air Britain to 6.0 pretty easily. But I do think that some of these reviews are no where near critical of genuine problems instead of “fix the game you ape” I hope the community will band together and focus on the real problems. But also say affirmations to gaijin about what they are doing right. We should be positive with the devs with what is done right in the game instead of constantly complaining about what’s bad. This is my most played game by far and I hope the community will grow to appreciate the game for what’s actually good about it.

The thing is now that bombing bases gives less rewards its even better to play CAS in Ground RB because it gives more rewards than bases xD
I'm having mixed feelings about the change. Yes, rockets and fighters stealing bases was annoying as a bomber but the stock grind for bombers have been made worse as a result of that. I did notice that some Japanese bombs are unsusable as well for some time, what do I mean is that I drop a 250kg bomb 20-25 m away from my target and the target doesn't get any damage at all, not even open-top vehicles. Didn't tried higher yield bombs because I am not crazy enough to bring medium/heavy bombers as CAS
make sure you aren't accidentally using the armour piercing bombs, they have very low explosive mass and blast radius

Lets be honest, the vehicles are pretty bad. A very slow low tier bomber and a arty with no stabilizer or armor that really should have been a tech tree tank for a nation very few people play. I'm pretty sure the stats say only 5% of people play Israel.
I don't think anyone who ruins the combat of ARB by botting or playing as such with bombing bases has any right to complain, their opinions should just be ignored and removed. What is the point of grinding by bombing? You grind for the next plane with more bombs then do it again? It wasn't fun at 1.0 why would it be fun at 10.0? Just play the game it was meant to be played, AIR COMBAT!!!

Im just so tired of the tier system. I played 16 games yesterday and all of my games except for 1 were full uptiers. I played rank 1 usa and rank 4 russia. Some games were better than others, but if the only way the is-2 (1944) can defeat a T32e1 is by shooting a pin sized spot in the heat of battle then something is wrong
I like the idea of the change to stop botters/rocket runners and make bombing better but I also see it as a veiled way to nerf bombing rewards.

The grind is getting way harder. My RP rewards with premium vehicles AND premium time is easily comparable to rewards given a few years ago.
i think the tank game mode needs to have more tanks and less being bombed by a guy that scouted 1 person, shot 1 person and died.
Gajin are starting the same thing as before. I have not looked into it via numbers, but I really am feeling that the silver gain has been decreased. More matches end up as 0 silver (with premium) and only wins give the same silver amount as before if you preformed.

If Gaijin wanted more money, they could make the premium vehicles a lot cheaper. I'm not paying $100 for a tank in a game. Whereas at $20, they'd get a lot more people doing it.
At higher BRs there's definitely a those with rocket tanks and thermals and those without effect which creates a massive capability gap.
Why did they ruin the M3 Bradley? Firstly, they took away it's apfsds. Then they nerfed the ATGM's to oblivion, and even though i know this applies for all ATGM's, it's just extreme in the M3's case. It does a giant flip when you fire them, and it just sucks. And the worst thing is, despite all the nerfs, it's only gone up in battle rating.

Ground RB grind should be significantly increased. You can have an absolutely killer game and barely hit 10k RP
Add RB EC, rework the Air Simulator repair costs that are outrageous right now, Fix Helicopter PVE SPAAs which are impossible to kill up close with rockets for helicopters missing AGM weapons, remove air targets when most 7.7-9.7 helicopter lack air to air missiles, and fix the A capture point not working when you land sometimes, rework the battle pass to be like Fortnite's battle pass with GE rewards where players have actual reason to buy it that keeps them playing the game. RP bonus is fine 3 daily bonuses up to 50% is still very nice I would ask for 5 instead though.
Someone find Anton IRL and teach him to permanently hold his breath underwater (after giving his face a severe "makeover" with a gilette). Game might get better then.
The whole system for bombers in war thunder just don’t work base bombing isn’t viable enough to contribute to the team and isn’t fun and often the team with more bombers loses. My proposed solution would be to have alternative game modes were you would escort bombers to targets. Or other modes where bombers where the only way to win and there was the same map design just bombers have an interceptor spawn or lower. Also make sure each team has matching bombers and fighters. This would also help ground rb like maybe dynamic objectives like payload escorts or moving caps.
TLDR make different modes/ redesigns bomber systems

People should riot about us not have BR based loadouts: everyone is happy to choose their weapons and won’t complai about stock grind or this vehicles doesn’t get it’s real weapons

“Chinese guys just enjoy playing the game” I’ve never heard anything more untrue. I’m so sick of Asian cheaters ruining matches. I have a good few clips recorded of a player with no thermals spawning in, and hitting someone center mass through about 30 trees / bushes across the map.
My old point on the game still stands. Free parts and fpe, its still annoying af to have basic survivability and effectivness be stripped away just beceause you havent played 10 matches in that particular vehicle yet.even yesterday i had to give up on 3 kills beceause someone knocked my gun out and i couldnt repair it. It was my last vehicle and even after i did great in it. After they shot my barrel all i could do was spot people... nevertheless i ended up dying beceause a 7.62 coaxial machine gun wont do anything against an m60
This time if we do a boycott we need a ground only mode. CAS is too broken at almost every br we need a mode to ourselves just like planes
Actually rank 1 cas is alright. Because almost every tank at that level has small caliber cannons that reload or a bunch of mgs
You know what? Make everybody happy. 2% universal research bonus per Nation you have Top Tier Air or Ground in, which is 10% for premium players.
This would massively incentivize people to buy premium time and still give everybody a bonus.
It would also give people who WANT to get every nation done an actual realistic way to do it.
It's actually hilarious that Gaijin is getting mad at phantom players for playing multirole while they uptier phantoms into F16s and Su-27s in about 80% of their matches lmfao, God forbid the players try and find a way to get by in your half-baked patchwork of commissioned assets you call a game Gaijin.
The milti kill bonus for air is good, shame its not applicable in sim. But i get why they'd be reluctant to.

Battle Pass is just too confusing. I don't know how it works but it seems impossible, then you have to pay for the key anyway from what I can tell.
I don't see why they can't just design the top tier research bonus as the ability to research another tree at 40-50% efficiency after getting a vehicle from rank VIII. Why does it have to be the complicated gameified thing?
Wait, there are 3 vehicles in this battle pass! At level 38 you get a box where u can get one of 4 vehicles in it!?

The grind in this game is just suffering. Gaijin at this point is like TH-cam trying to sell you premium. Without premium you can play, yes. But have fun playing years to get to top tier lol. Not everyone can play 24/7😂 I can understand the frustration when Gaijin makes it even worse.
War thunder is like star citizen if they fixed the bugs and made the grind harder

I play probably 3 matches a day. I've been grinding the XM1073 for a year, and am only half done. The grind is absurd. I also have been team bombed repeatedly for driving the M1128 out for being a "whale", when everyone knows the wolfpack is the premium, not the regular MGS.

The rocket change feels awful honestly, grind nerfs in general are terrible for the game, playing something with only rockets before and after, what a waste of time. The people carrying bombs are still getting outsped by F-104's with their own bombs anyways lol

Good. The ground RP rewards need a serious buff, like 5x the current amount you get. Taking hours to get new modules and months or a year to reach top tier is insanity.

sadly this is just bot farmers who are complaining. this change is good for bombers as it discourages fighters from stealing bases.
Nerfing the rockets was brilliant as so many planes are actually valid now. Fighters doing more damage to bases was asinine. The grind is vastly easier for most people who didn't abuse specific use cases for premiums. Also it's worth just booting the Chinese back to their own server.
The nation reward bonuses though is definitely trash and a slap in the face. It's so far entirely useless. They don't want to give any actual reward because that would cost them money.
Separate ww2 and modern Gaijin. DO IT!!!

Theres a reason why bombing with rockets is loved.
Bombers in this game are terrible. They get shot down too easily and they are a painfully slow grind.
Rockets help the grind by making a quicker and more combat capable alternative.
If you want to nerf rockets. Thats fine. But make bombers have their separate game modes AND make heli PVE more rewarding.
I'm glad they nerfed the rockets against bases, since nobody really talked about it previously, so I didn't know that they were so strong even after 6 years of play. (I generally stick below 6.0, as I prefer having fun games once per two of three matches instead of once in five or ten.)
There will always be something. Screwing the players is how War Thunder makes money. Their shitty exploitive mobile game business plan means they have to make the game frustrating enough so players spend money. This puts Gaijin and the player base in fundamentally adversarial roles. Grinding XP, ridiculous repair costs, uptiers, and BR compression are not "balancing." They're how Gaijin sells gold, working as intended. On the other hand, huge teams on crowded maps are needed to offset the server cost of all the free players. The entire purpose of the game is to get you to buy as much gold as possible. The game will never reach its potential because Gaijin needs problems in order to sell the solution. If the players are happy, Gaijin goes bankrupt.
If they just bit the bullet and moved to a subscription model the game would instantly improve overnight. Instead of being incentivized to frustrate players into buying premium, they would be incentivized to keep subscribers engaged so they stay. Dropping the "freemium" scam would be the best thing to ever happen to War Thunder.
We need more coverage on this. After doing some digging it is far worse then you make it.

Gajin should reduce the time it takes for bases to respawn, especially in high to top tier and make bigger maps more common. For ground gajin should nerf cas and rethink some br things. Economy wise cut down on crew costs and repair costs. And maybe rework some of the modeling e.g separate fcs for gunner and commander or at least a backup system like the hunter killer systems. War thunder has still potential but it feels like the devs just left it and gets now run by profit maximising developers who don't care about the game. Also with gajin destroying line ups because of br changes like Germany from 7.0-7.7 is it very extrem only Wiesel, m48, marder and if you have it the maus at 8.0-8.7 it has similar issues but not as extreme or big gaps between vehicles like the duster and the m163
