After a comment I checked my edit and realised that I’d accidentally disabled Clip in my editing software. The clutch cover is on the right side of the engine. It also explains why the text is in the wrong place. That’s what comes from rushing to get the video out!
How can they go to RBW throttle, but not offer cruise control... If you want a 'robust' offroad bike that you can fix on the trail, you would want regular throttle cables. If you are going to offer ride by wire, might as well offer the big advantage that it opens up as well. Also no bolted rear frame is a strange choice.
I’m not sure about this? One of the reasons I bought one was that it’s basic, much less to go wrong or get in the way of how the bike rides. I feel a lot of owners bought one for similar reasons, but now as they start adding stuff to the bike you are bringing the bike more inline with other ADV bikes, maybe good 🤷♂️ but for me it’s losing the main selling point and the main difference between itself and others in the same category. For people who want to ride off road it seems the choice is slowly getting smaller unless you are happy with and don’t mind paying for the tech.
TC is a must for everybody does not matter the skills - this is about your safety. Do not play hero. Quick shifer or even only slipper clutch is also too much? We are not in 90s anymore.
@@podunkman2709TC is not a must have for everyone. I learned to ride in the 80’s when you were lucky to have two disk brakes on a bike. If you ride sensibly, you don’t need TC, it’s nice to have but it’s definitely not a must.
Tubeless tyres…………. Would really like a tenere but after bad experiences with tubed tyres - i vowed never again. Disappointing this is not an option to choose
I don't understand why no tubeless wheels Yamaha? Do you see what the competition is offering? Why are Japanese companies so afraid of tubeless? Suzuki Vstrom 800, Honda Trans-help 750 and Yamaha's T700 are the gutless tubeless pointless blunders of the ADV world.
Interesting. I've had ADV bikes for over 20 years and all have had tubed tyres. I've never had an issue with them and I think I've only ever had one puncture on a ride to date on thousands of miles of heavy off road riding in the US and Canada. A lot of issues with tubes are usually down to tyre choice and pressure (right stiffness of tyre for the terrain and adjusting the pressure to avoid pinch flats). That said, I've had a few punctures from changing tyres at home and pinching the tube! More than anything I like being able to just change a tube if I get a puncture on a ride, easier and more reliable than a plug when you're 100kms into the bush.
@@hamfixer I live in Arizona where summer temperatures for months are over 115 degrees and zero shade. Pull you luggage off, work in the direct 115 degree sun for a few hours changing a tire in the desert or along side the road with the semi trucks just feet away and you would wish you could plug, fill and go before you pass out or get hit. Same for rain, storms, bad neighborhoods, wrong place wrong time scenario.
It would be interesting to see a comparison drawing of how the new t7 fuel tank is positioned compared to the current model. The upgrade of a better fuel cap was big improvement
The face refresh is excellent, close enough to the previous design not to alienate exiting owners, but fresh enough to stand out as new, the RBW throttle I think is a good thing, as is the one touch ABS/Traction control button, I still think they have missed a trick with not at least offering Cruise control as an option, it would transform this version into a great long distance adventure tourer, maybe a World Raid version will have it. The new TFT screen looks good but looks very close to the GPS mount bar. Hope to see it at Motorcycle live.
I was one of those people who had issues with the clutch on the 24. Dealer was giving me the run around so it sat in the garage most of the summer. I sold it this fall and just got the notice that Yamaha will replace the clutch pack. Still no where near the cam issues of the Ktm at this point I would imagine. So I might put in the order for the 25 soon.
Interesting all the tech they added and the other changes. I find the Tenere 700 to be like the SUV of motorcycling, off road, commuting, touring, errands and there are lots of parts to make into any type of motorcycle you want. That is a nice engine to work on, oil changes are a breeze. If I was in the market for an all rounder motorcycle I would probably have in the garage,.
@ True! Honestly, I’m seeing these manufacturers cut costs on providing adequate suspension systems in order to provide so many additional features such as cruise control. I wish they would focus on the basics.
I have always admired this bike. It doesn't need fly by wire anything and rider modes. The ABS off switch is excellent. The dash was better before. I like the flat seat. It needed tubeless tyres. Nick
WTH? No bolt on rear end? Same shitty, low, bending on the fall, and bolted to frame rear can? And no tubless,,,,chinese are catching up. Thank you for the overview.
No cruise control is a huge miss. Except for the looks i don't see any reason to get this over a tuareg 660 (at least where i live where dealer support is not an issue)
Hope it will be little rebalanced in wheight so the top heavyness disapears, otherwise i think I will get one... if the price range is about the same that is, wont be paying more for those changes.
Just don't see the reason for no cruise or tubeless... Unless Yamaha plans to uphold the japanese formula that there is a new cp3 based super tenere in the works
Drive by wire throttle and all of those other electronic add ons and you still didn't add cruise control which at this point wouldn't hardly cost anything extra, damn you Yamaha. When Yamaha adds cruise control I'll buy one. Literally all it lacks. Really liked the other changes. Guess I'll see what 2026 brings smh. About to go with a Triumph Tiger 900.
Yamaha, you either build a simple bike, forget all the gadgets, and sell it cheap, but the Tenere 700 most definitely isn’t cheap. Instead, Yamaha haven’t learnt from their competition or listened to their customers. They have most certainly made the bike more expensive, without actually adding the features to match competitors and what the customers wanted, I.e cruise control, tubeless wheels that don’t corrode, bolt on rear subframe, better placed rear silencer and bolt on silencer hanger. I expect this bike will not sell in the numbers they hope for, because there are simply better bikes, with better specs, with comparable or cheaper prices. Why go to the expense of fitting TBW and not fit CC, and other than the true off road diehards, most want tubeless wheels (its far cheaper to buy an aftermarket set of tubed wheels than it is to buy aftermarket tubeless wheels). I’ve owned the first version of Rally Edition and a World Raid, both bikes I loved, but after the World Raid, I lost faith in Yamaha, with corroding wheels, flaking paint and corrosion on the frame and swing arm. The bikes spec’s and quality didn’t justify the price they are asking. This new update won’t fool me, Yamaha.
One of the really attractive aspects of the T7 was its Simplicity like the lack of silly electronics. ABS proves more of a annoyance than all else. I don't need TC. And, CC? Really? On the dirt trails? I do not need that nonsense. What should have been improved on is the exhaust damper and sub frame. The sub frame should be detachable as a bolt-on unit. And the exhaust damper perhaps be more integrated like the YZ 450.
Yamaha have just taken away the features that draw people to buy this bike! All it needed was tubeless rims and it would have been an even better seller, i'll bet the sales of this model are far worse than it's first incarnation?
Dang Yamaha ... at what point do you remove your head from between your cheeks and make changes people actually want and build it. Too much BS on this 2025, very few want all the electric modes, I prefer the old gray scale dash, people want tubeless wheels, new exhaust hanger, exhaust, lower fuel tank with more capacity. If you have to go RBW then back it up with cruise control. You might as well change the name to Tstrom 700. you are becoming lazy like Suzuki.
the design on the t7 always been a dislike for me, now it's getting better but I think all that they have to do is to look at the XT 600 from the '80s and do a inspired T7 on that lines. the Yamaha t7 always had problems with design, especially on the area of the tank now they are doing what I said in the first place but I think it can be better.

I wonder if the actual spring rates have changed on the standard T7 ?
Mt07 got cruise and automatic but the touring bike of the t7 doesn't.

Nice little review, thank you. Unfortunately none of it means shit to us here in the US, we'll still get the standard version and that's all.

Yes, although I suspect there will be an updated version coming along soon
