The pilot with a V6 is definitely the play over the turbo highlander.
Yeah, I have a Highlander Hybrid and the powertrain is a little underpowered and noisy. Not sure how it compares to the turbo 4. However, it’s been super reliable and we get 30MPG driving aggressively in mixed traffic. It’s a tough call and depends on your needs, I suppose.
@jamesm.2802 i have an 18 XLE Highlander 3.5 v6 and its super smooth with over 110K on it now. Fluid changes brakes and plugs so far.
@danichicago9140 we have a 2018 xle awd with the 6cyl. Good vehicle. Haven't even had to put new brakes on it. Crazy
@@brotherdodger8545 i did them at 80K only because i put Bilsteins on. Neither had failed yet.
Yet there not selling, turbos are the way but maintenance and premium gas are key Americans still not ready....
Wanted to say thank you. Purchased your guide the other night after seeing this video and being in the market for a pilot. I noted our region was incredibly heavy on touring rather than EX-L and hit 6.8% off MSRP, 750 Loyalty, and then, given one of the sources in your guide - found they had an additional 1K in a captive lease program since the Closing offer ended 4/1. It took some effort and a good amount of drive time, but I got a deal today that would put it to the left of any sales data found on consumer reports' bell curve of sales data. Fan for life. Buy his guide, my advice.
Edit: also learned of the MF promo via this, so no markup at the dealership
We have a 2019 Ridgeline with 49,000 miles. It is nice and has had any major issues. One night the fan did not turn off after turning engine off, has to unplug the fuse so battery did not get drained. Next day replaced the fuse at Honda dealer. Outside that it has had about five recalls, the biggest one is fuel pump replacement. I do recommend it. Ours has the six speed automatic that some have complained about but ours so far on our AWD works good. My nephew also has a Passport with the nine speed and he has had no problems telling me it is a tank. Short of it, I recommend these.
Thank you! Been dying for you to do another Pilot video since your last one. Just financed a 24 elite trim. 3.9@48 mos. No real difference on the 25 technicals. The black edition has no deals right now. Got almost the full 5% off target discount. Thanks for all the great info as always. I didn't actually realize how much worse the safety rating was for front collisions like you state, is that a "game changer" in any way as far as recommending this generation's Pilot?
Good effort on all your videos. I hope it's rewarding for you. You're a must watch.
Very much so!! Thank you Dan 🙏🏼
Do you know if the Ridgeline has a higher resale value than the Pilot? I have a 23 Ridgeline and hope the reliabity of the engine is rated higher than the Pilot.
good vid, look into the aftermarket VCM bypass
EX-L doesn’t have a freakin sunroof…
I'm wondering if this deals are available in Canada too so please let me know and thank you for your time
really good content😊
Is this for the month of April?
I just bought a 24 Elite. Got 5k off msrp and also got them to take off the additional 3k that they had for dealer add ons.
The touring gives you better leather(different then just basic black leather in EX-L) and the Bose audio with a panoramic sun roof. Other than that, it’s pretty much the same as the exl
Are you still offering lease brokerage services? I’ve tried emailing via the IG but it keeps getting bounced back.
I haven’t seen the prices of the pilot drop locally at all. We should be able to get a better deal on the 2024’s now?
My wife wants an elite with the tan interior. Finding them used for around $46,500-48,000 and they refuse to budge on the price around TN to NC. Anybody had any luck?
Ari jan in LA area some Honda dealerships are asking $2000 over MSRP. Thanks for the video I was about to buy one.
Damn you, I just wiped my screen thinking there was a hair or something on it!
@@bettysmith4527 lol
Where do you get this extra $1000 rebate?
I just watched your video on trading in your vehicle to lease. I was wondering how it would work if I'm 8k negative and they have a 8k in rebates... Would that balance out essentially? Thanks In advance
When you walk in, never tell them you have a trade in when they ask. Tell them no and that you want to drive and then talk price negotiations on the price of the Honda. Trade-Ins really muddy things up and they take advantage of you: I sold cars and that’s how it works.
Touring is the trim to get. Lowest trim with torque vectoring
in Las Vegas, all Honda dealers Tack ( as of 3`31`2024 ) on a three thousand dollar " dealer Desert Protection package. which is a Fake scam ...
I bought mine in December and told them to pack sand on that. Bought it without the crap added.
Go to Honda west, they are offering -3500 discount on the pilots this week.
I’m purchasing the 2025 Black Edition tomorrow. I’m nervous. I never buy a new car. Dealer is giving $1000 off MSRP. I was very surprised.
How about CRV hubrids?
Hey bro can you please make a video on a deal for the Genesis GV70 you don't have a Genesis video on your channel
We bought the 24 EXL at the prices you mentioned in the video last month. Do you know if rebates are retroactive?
Because buying a car is like buying an item from Costco.
Never retroactive lol
In Canada at a Dwalari dealer, I was 1st quoted 2K over MSRP and no 2K Honda discount. Then $2900 in protection package BS I did not ask for - paint, under coat ,maintence program with no initial explaination, then wheel locks and a bunch of admin BS. So first round I had to navigate that disaster then said he where is the Towing package?
Towing package is $2100CAD labor and install inc according to Honda Canada. Dealer tried quoting me over 3K, then backed down to 2.5K.
This along with offering me 10K less than market price for my trade in.....and they thought I was still going to buy after they had proved over and over they were scam artists...
The past three years have turned a bad business into a nightmare to deal with. Had a simularily insulting experience with Acura...
Honda has a new version of the 3.5 with a DOHC in the Pilot. Having had two 3.5’s and experience with the VCM 3.5 when it was first introduced in the 05-10(?) models, I’d def stay clear until this engine proves itself. Same reason I bought the 2L civic and not the oil dilution special turbo. I agree lease it.
Always lease
Do you know what year they switched to the DOHC engine in the Pilot? I think the Passport has the older VTECH engine. Do you think that would be a more reliable option? (I drive a 2005 Pilot EX-L. Engine’s fantastic, electrical issues are a problem.)
@@cathyg1099……the 4the gen pilot -2023 has the new dohc engine . I WILL wait with this newer engine. I had an ‘05 odyssey ex (no vcm) that was trouble free (over 100k miles) until it was T-boned. The 09 replacement with VCM is burning oil now (180k miles now) has had VCM issues, piston ring blow by (covered by Honda) and the vtec valves failing (oil leakage) which the front one is over the alternator and gee, i wonder WHY that failed.
@@kek1807 That's not good. I wish they would have left the the engines alone. VCM and all the other tech they add on causes so many problems. TYSM for the reply.
if you’re not really using the 3rd row .., CRV-Hybrid is way to go 👍
( tons of space , way higher MPG)
I drive a 2021 pilot touring. I bought it because it was the best option for me from the dealership that had me over a barrel with car repairs. It’s not exactly what I wanted but it grew on me because of all of the features. It’s fully loaded. The only point that I would see to buy an lx is price point and shortage of pilots with a tow package. Someone might’ve gone with it because it was the only one they had with a hitch receiver. The only reason I would see someone going with a touring over an ex-l would be some of the extra features that they couldn’t live without.
The Touring is almost fully loaded lol. I had the 23 Elite. Now I have a 25 Black Edition
I think The Tow package is dealer installed, so they should be able to slap a hitch onto any instock inventory...
Let me know when they have deals on the Ridgeline.
I'm surprised at the CR rating. I'm on the Honda Pilot forums and FB Groups and I've not seen any major recurring issues. That said, whatever ppl are dealing with are sure to be less long term than the high strung Turbo 4 highlander.... at least until Toyota's worked out the bugs with all their new powertrains. Honda and Toyota reliability aren't what they were, but thats to be expected now that Toyota has finally been forced to upgrade their powertrains. Its easy to be unreliable when you've not had to update /replace your powertrains in decades.
Ton of Tundra major/catastrophic failures for example that has that FB group resembling the RAM groups a little too close for comfort lately.
Honda’s are built in the USA, Canada, Brazil, Thailand, and China. Hence, the quality differences. Always check the door plate for year and location.
All Pilots are built in Alabama
I get everything i need and want with an lx …. The more gadgets and gizmos the more maintenance costs
If the 2025 has as many problems as my 2020 has I wouldn't touch it with a 10 foot pole. I've had sensor problems ($1500) the fuel injectors failed at 95k ($1500) and the system that stops the engine and restarts it when you take your foot off the brake has been worked on 3 times and it still isn't fixed.
If the vehicle had 195k miles on it would expect these things, but it's far too young to require these types of repairs.
My wife has a 2019 pilot no problems whatsoever. I have a 2018 Ridgeline, again no problems. Both have 90000 miles. We love both cars.
I got $1,500 loyalty for a Ridgeline 2023 . 0.9%. on the tiny loan . Will pay it off after I get first payment notice. $500 veteran cash and dealer did a $1,500 off to get rid of some inventory. So my RTL-E will be my second Ridgeline.
In the market for a Honda pilot I currently have a CRV might consider staying with the CRV
And yet many dealers sit there with a $4000 markup on the sticker for dealer accessories, when they need to move these fuckin things, and making you have to negotiate it off. As a 2024 Honda Pilot Trailsport owner, I just want to give people the heads up that Honda has taken very sneaky and very frustrating cost-saving measures on this vehicle, and none of it is transparent up front. Do yourself a favor if you don't actually NEED an SUV, and get the new Accord hybrid. Those things are on a different level. The Pilots still need another refresh or another generation of not being treated like the redheaded stepchild that maybe eventually gets not-completely-a-dinosaur levels of technology and fuel economy. In the North American continent, with its massive competition and thirst for SUV's, you'd think Honda would step their game up and do better with the details. Instead it seems to only get it very right with its sedans.
The technology on the Ridgelines is far worse than on the Pilots. I have a 22 RL and my 69 Catalina had more. I have a 19 Pilot and it blows away the 22.
What percentage below MSRP is considered a great deal? 10%?
7%
Usually have to settle for 5% depending on demand.
so, now add the insurance premium in California of about $225.00 per month. Now the total figure is $75.00 plus $225.00 equal $975.00 per month for 60 months.
Why don’t you advise customers to work up from the dealer’s invoice?
My wife’s 2012 Pilot has about 155k, and it runs like it’s got 50k. This car is fantastic, and it’s why a new Pilot is on our radar later this year when we finally upgrade.
Didnt drive the ridgeline after being advertised at 41k from 43k. The sticker price was laminated at 47k, with the b.s. add ons.
My co worker just bought a Ridgeline black edition, got it at $6.6k under MSRP. These aren’t selling like it used to.
I hope you’ll be able to do Grand Highlander next…
I will!
Elite is fantastic! Change oil at 5k
I got a 2024 touring for the Bose stereo alone. Worth the extra $$
ill buy Pilot but needs to be 4 cylinder dont care for lx or touring basic model is fine in fact CRV will work
So it’s terrible that dealerships charge more than MSRP when demand is in their favor however it’s great when you pay less than MSRP when demand is lower.
Watch out for the oil change scam from these dealerships. 3 grand for a few oil changes and tire rotation. They say it’s mandatory after your in there especially if you paid msrp. Do not add anything to your car when you buy a new car. They try to add up to 20k in extras. Please❤
Honda V6s have cylinder deactivation! That makes unreliable no matter makes the vehicle.
I thought they fixed the issue with VCM they were having
118k on my 2016 Accord Touring. Not one hiccup.
@@bzzcks around 120 to 150k is when I start seeing people with issues. Lets wait.
@@LoveLikeaHurricaneyap 150 -20000when wife's pilot accumulates $9000 of repair. 😮

If you don't want a pano roof, the LX and the EL-X is your only choice. I live in Florida and pano roofs are brutal hot. It's over 90° for 7 months.
$5000 - $5500 off. If you have good credit and make a sizable down payment, you can convince them to come down to YOUR price. They almost have to because the Highlander is kicking their ass in sales! Bottom line. I live in Metro ATL and I'm a CDL driver and I see 3 - 4 times as many Highlanders on the road as I do Pilots. That's real.
Pilot was very tempting but that 9inch screen from 1990s just bothered me so much
$785 car payment......da fuq
You don't have to manually adjust the valve lash anymore on the 25's. Good, bad, eh.
Looking to buy pilot elite this week actually
How did it work out
Reliability and Honda doesn't mix anymore, lots of recalls, oil dilution and list goes on.
Oil dilution? On a v6? Can you double check your research ?
That's just on the 1.5 Turbo. Everything else is fine
@@wasupfool5692 I’m talking about the brand not specific engine. Do yourselves a solid and check how many recalls Honda has in their portfolio and see how they dive down in reliability standings.
Hondas reliability has gone down, but so has everybody else, including Toyota and Lexus. That being said, Hondas most reliable vehicles have always been their smallest. CR-V, HR-V, Civics and Accords. The V6 models seemed to have tranny issues especially on recent Pilots and Ridgelines. They also require more expensive maintenance with timing belt and water pump replacement every 105,000 miles. That's a minimum of $1500.
I agree on that. Hrv’s made in mexico. Plagued with issues. Seat belt recall, rear windoe will shatter by itself and windows are super noisy going up or down. Plus honda took off the temp gauge. 1.5 turbo engines oil dilution
Touring model way to go, this SUV, looks better with the 20” wheels, Bose stereo is superb, panoramic moonroof is very nice, lots of other nice features…
Nothing new here. Honda over produces (and markets) the high end of its product lineup and has been doing so for years. We traveled to another major city 300 miles away to buy our 2016 EX Pilot because no other dealer any closer carried anything below the Touring model. Dido for our 2012 CRV LX. In those days the dealer managed to obtain one for us from a Kansas City dealer because again, no one closer had an LX in stock. Anyone who regularly reads the Piloteers owners web site will understand why Consumer Reports rates a Pilot the way it does.
I mean is 20 inch rims and sunroof really worth 3k more for touring... I don't think so.
Wow! High average insurance charges.
Last video you were saying we should buy it....😂
That’s not a deal. Just go on the forums the issues are non ending.
Just visited a Honda dealership last night and was shocked that their incentive 1.9 is only for 12 to 24 months wtf
Why they took all the bells and whistles off the trailsport model including the lift gate or the driver seat memory programs is just stupid including no wireless charger pad. Come on.
I bought a 2024 Pilot Elite for 53,500 drive out.
Not sure if you can disable the VCM on the 4th gen Pilots, but if you have the Turd and 2nd gen Pilots, you can get the S-VCM to disable it, saving your engine, spark plugs, transmission (from excessive vibration) and electronic motor mounts. Not sure if this gen has the issue with MOST/Farkra connectors either like the previous generations (including the passport.) Honda fell by the wayside in quality, stick with Toyota (or Lexus if you can.) If you're leasing with zero plans to buy it, then do whatever you want without after-the-warranty worries.
I wonder if you put the transmission to Sport, will the VCM ever get activated?
$5000 discounts it's not enough, if is big inventory, should be at least 20% price down, good luck Honda.
I think we get to picky, luxury generation, LX, EX trims it's just enough, no wonder monthly payments get closer to $1000, then what happens, people will start losing cars, tow truck comes to their parking, driveways...
Wife wants out of her odyssey with just having our 2 boys…tried the Toyota grand highlander and it was beautiful other than a 4 cylinder turbo turned me off
I’m getting quotes in the $51K range before taxes and fees in CT. Insanity
I’m in the Charlotte area (but former nutmeger) got a first offer yesterday that was around 46. Shop around and good luck
I just bought a 25 Black Edition with a $5895 discount and $500 loyalty rebate in Westchester
@@DavidH-wy6ic Which dealer? I'm in the market and I do see some dealers have markups over MSRP. May step out with the wife this weekend to see what they are offering on a Pilot or Odyssey. I'm in the NYC area as well.

Hi Ari can you do the lease deal on Grnesis GV80

It’s good but 48k is lot of money
Every auto dealership is desperate. People are not buying big ticket items like automobiles and homes. The interest rate raises killed these companies
Slowing down inflation is the goal of the Fed by raising interest rates and this is what it looks like.
@@ChopperChad except that they over corrected as usual and people can’t pay their bills

Go touring and enjoy the a/c seats. Also Toyota has 2 much going on 4cyl/turbo/hybrid just to confusing. I bought the touring Honda a few months ago - only complaint would be 1st gear should be a bit longer or have the ability to start in second gear.
I’m just not a fan of what Honda is doing to their line-up. Just not competitive enough. Especially the Pilot offering a small base 7in infotainment screen and 9in as their biggest screen. Whereas the competition offering more screen sizes, including Toyota. This is what Gen Z families are demanding, which is better technology.
Honda prices have doubled since 2019...and the quality has decreased... 7% ain't shhhht...
$45,000.00 or so is still too much money for the Pilot. I would move to the Toyota 4 runner or highlander for this price range.
What the EF are 2025’s being out 3 months into 2024 😂
EX-L doesn’t even have a moonroof
Honda and Toyota and NOT more reliable than others anymore NOW that they have to get with the times with new Tech and to keep up with emissions and EPA Standards with new engines and transmissions. They don't even test the dam things, just rush them to the market. As long as I can find it, I will stick with the naturally aspirated engine NON-Hybrid, with a traditional Torque Converter Transmission, NOT a piece of crap CVT. My 2009 Hyundai Sonata I bought new on June 1 2009 has never had a problem! It still runs like the day I bought it! I would buy a Soul but I don't want a CVT but a Sportage will be nice, or it's Hyundai sibling! 187 horse with an 8 speed auto is perfect and you can get all wheel drive! It is highly rated and is SUPER RELIABLE! Screw Toyota and Honda.
How about Passport?
Your information is simply not true, it's sold even higher than MSRP in STL area.
Consumer Reports means nothing.
I like everything but the screen is very small for this time.
I would not longer buy the Honda brand. The quality is down and the prices are up. Go to the Toyota, Mazda, or Subaru brand for any Honda except the CRV (which still has a high level of reliability.
Honestly Consumer Reports only likes Subaru. They tear every other brand apart and give everything a -1 reliability score.
My 2020 Touring XT Outback was a brick. I cannot count the number of times I had to jump-start it. The infotainment center crashed to black often. I'm in the 2024 Pilot/Trailsport. So far, I love it.
@@safety2652congrats mate! I just bought a 2024 Trailsport three weeks ago and love it!
Lol why do u not understand the lack of appeal for an 'offroad' stamped honda pilot?! I live in colorado - home of the unnecessary off road branded (stickers, paint job) truck and suvs. No one here would want a pilot stickered up, and i can only assume the average mom in iowa and arkansas also have zero instance. People want luxury or cheap models for these minivans on a car frame with shocks that make it kinda taller.
Spend half or even less than half and buy a Kia Soul. It will do basically all the same s*&t for 1/2 the price and more reliable!
Sit on your hands next video haha
That still ain’t a good deal bru.
Get me a deal
The Pilot has a slew of complicated motor parts that will prove less reliable than engines of the past. The Car Care Nut was being generous, but he would never buy one.
Are you referring to the newer DOHC engine? Would the 2024 Passport with the older VTECH engine be a better option? I own a 2005 pilot EX-L. The engine is great, but electrical problems are popping up. I’d like something newer, but reliability is important.
Do not get whir Honda google paint pealing
I have no clue where you received information on the Honda...you just made a fake video
Despite the Honda incentives I would consider the Hyundai Palisade in 2024 since it ranks higher.
Ari, please look into Islam. Your an amazing and helpful brother.
Honda is slipping quickly into mediocrity.
Made in Mexico just like Toyota
Actually, Toyota Highlander is made in Indiana and the Honda pilots are made in Alabama and Georgia.
