Hello Everyone. I am the trumpet section leader for my high school marching band. I have just been curios to know when do drummers know when to play with their left or right hand. I know you drummers use drum rudiments and I have seen snare, tenor, and bass drum music. Sometimes I notice that the music says RLRLRLRLRLRL or RLRRLRLL. I know a few rudiments. But how do you guys know what are the rudiments there are if no right or left hand below the notes?
I'm not 100% sure, but I'm fairly certain that Joel (the super blonde guy that's not the center) makes the screaming noise, and he does it every rep. Same with the guy who shakes is head, he does a bass drum run sound. I couldn't help but laugh if I was in the snareline hearing the crowds reaction and stuff. I'd try not to but I'd smile :P this is why I love the Bluecoats. They're just a fun drum corps.
That girl is a fucking tank at snare. Shes already been to so many groups and shes basically like what...2 years out of high school (in guessing) and shes already in the Blue Devs? She's probably become a big time tech after her DCI/WGI career is over

Im not very fond of the Blue Devils either and i wish that so many people from Bluecoats wouldn't leave it for Blue Devs or else they Coats would win high percussion every year. But...you can't make people stay in a corp that they don't want to be in...
one word, money. Not only would cost less to travel(because she lives there), but BD charges less too. Not everbody has a butt load of money to keep doin another corps when there's one in your state. Plus i bet that BD was her first choice last year, didnt quite make it, and made Coats her plan B.

It's actually pretty common to have an even number. Normally in DCI it's 8 or 9, but sometimes it can be more or less.
