You always have such great recommendations! I am adding The Great Gilly Hopkins to my list! Although my family didnât foster, my youngest brother is adopted from South Korea and I am always drawn to those types of storiesð Thanks for sharing!
Oh yes, we love adoption stories too but there seems to be less of them than foster care stories . . . Or maybe we're just going through a foster care book binge right now.
Don't feel bad, I'm in my 40's and have read The Outsiders (nor have I seen the movie). I did pick it up off your recommendation, so I'll be reading it sometime this year.
Just recently found you, we've homeschooled since the beginning, our oldest just graduated and our youngest hasn't started yetð. Anyways, we've read a lot of the ones you have on your lists. A few others we love are: The Westing Game, Children of the Storm, and I Rode a Horse of Milk White Jade.
You have some great books on her list! Sam has read a fair number of these. Several of them are Sonlight books (Call it Courage, Listening of Lions, Journey to Jo'Burg, Bud not Buddy).
I lovee Anne FrankðĪĐðĪĐâĻand i am going to read all the others (english is my second language that's why i haven't read a lot of these booksð ðĒ)Love your suggestions âĪ
Um, "You're wrong." Haha, probably not what I would say. Honestly, I'd Google "benefits of listening to audiobooks" memorize a few key ones and spout those to the naysayers.
You said "Christmas Carol" and "easy to read" in the same sentence and I laughed out loud! Hahah! I must be incredibly stupid because I tried reading it a few years ago and would read the same sentence over and over and over before I understood. Maybe I need to try again lol
hey, Im a fifth grader on a 8/9th grade reading level! ðĨē I was just wondering if u have any other books that would be on my reading level but still age appropriate! Ty!
Im watching this as an 8th grader who's finished about 80% of the novels in the kid section and some in the YA section of our local library.
Such a great list. I totally forgot about the Outsiders. My 14 year old will definitely be reading it this summer. Thanks for sharing! ð
I hope you guys love it!

Do you remember any of Sam's favorites from this age?
Canât wait to hear what she thinks of her books!!!
Little Men is on my list to read this year. I just bought the gorgeous edition of The Hiding Place. It has so many photos in it.
Oh so good to hear about The Hiding Place! I may have to grab that soon!

What do you say to people who say listening to audiobooks isnât reading? It bugs me when people say that.

You definitely aren't stupid! I just kept envisioning the Mickey's Christmas Carol movie as I read the book, that helped!
