    Having extra parts when you're done is a blast 🤣

    When I first realized the frame went over the engine. I knew my mechanic will be doing this.

    Excellent video. Thanks. Your enthusiasm when getting a plug out is me all the way. Lol

    great stuff, if i can addd something though, when you do spark plugs next if your worried about cross threading them, you can put a small bit of rubber hose over the end of the spark plug body, this way you can use this to spin the plugs in by hand (fingers), and if they try to cross threar the spark plug will just spin in the hose on the end, and you can turn it back a full turn and start again. really looks like a pain the arse though.

    Thank you for posting this. It was a huge help. I'm slowly building up a non runner right now, and it's a bit shit that the gen 1 had the spark plug tool in the factory kit 😅

    Did this job last year on my 2013 it was a real pain but more awkward than difficult. Plenty of stop and breath and remember 'patience' is a virtue ! It was the first plug change so it was done at 7500. The coil packs were cleaned and polished then greased with red grease before re installing. (Tip, if you've got a compressor once you've removed coil packs blow out the openings before removing plugs. Also the short straight length of hose pipe is a great way to hold em as you put em into the head. )

    Removing the pair vavle and installing block off plates really makes this job easer frees up working room

      Agree - did mine over the Christmas holls - plugs changed, ditched the secondary air system and put block off plates on.

    No wonder people say Kawasaki bikes are difficult to work on. Changing plugs on a Hayabusa is a breeze compared to the nightmare of doing it on a ZX-14! Kawasaki should make access hatches in the frame so the mechanic can have easier access to the spark plugs.

    • @Apolloneek
      @Apolloneek 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hayabusa isn't as easy as some make it seem. Tank cover comes off tank goes up air box comes off sometimes carbs come off if valve cover has to come off for extra room then plugs come out.

    Ahh the joys , I put new coils and plugs in last year, so many scuffs and grazes on my hands, not a lot of room at all

      Many thanks for your. What size spark plug socket do I need my bike is a 20 plate don't think anything different from yours . I have a 16mm socket but won't go all the way down to the spark plugs so is it a 14mm hope you can throw some light on this. Many thanks Steve .

      @@englishsteve2205 I bought this about 30 years ago to get the plugs out of a car I had at the time. None of the sockets I had would fit down into the cars cyclinder head. Its a 5/8" (15.87mm) the outside diameter is 27/32" (21.43mm) altough mine is acctually 21.25mm. It worked fine on the 14R by chance. shop.snapon.com/product/Standard%2C-Inches-(Spark-Plug-Sockets)/3-8%22-Drive-6-Point-SAE-5%2F8%22-Flank-Drive-Shallow-Spark-Plug-Socket/S9706KA I'd buy the Kawasaki tool it'll probably be cheaper and easier to use , They came in the tool kit on a Gen1 but not a Gen2 for some reason. The NGK plugs in my 14R measure 15.84mm across the flats , 14mm won't work.

    It amazes me even on the zx12r vidioes of plug changes never show plug 2 removal on camera?

    • @ZX14RHedgehogWorkshop
      @ZX14RHedgehogWorkshop  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Probably because its difficult to film , all you'll see is the hands of the person doing the job. This is why I did'nt show it. The plugs all come out in the same way so makes little difference I think. Good question though , I did'nt know that other channels have done the same.
