    GR8 Video with excellent instructions. Your video is among the TOP on "How To" and easy to follow without any guessing.
    The only thing I would not do is to place the relay to open the gate in the doorbell, it is a security risk as all you need to do is open the case and short the two wires to open the gate.

    • @SmartSolutionsForHome
      @SmartSolutionsForHome  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you! As fot the security risk: I use this to open the wicket/gateway. Of course you are right that it is enough to short two wires to open it. But it's much easier to jump over the fence :) I don't use it for anything where security is critical. Thanks for your fantastic comment, you are very insightful :)

    This is excellent! I’m really frustrated with the subscription only models available to buy… I have an Arlo doorbell and the video delay is mind boggling. And everything goes through their servers of course… Would you make a next version with live video, and the ability to see and talk to the perso. On the door?

    • @SmartSolutionsForHome
      @SmartSolutionsForHome  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks! In this version, you can also have live video without any problems. However, it's not as simple with the two way audio. Of course, it's doable, but it would require some tinkering. Am I planning to do another revision? Yes, I have it on my "to do" list. But to be completely honest with you, it's quite far down on that list.

  • @onimus93

    This is great but i think rev 2 should have a secondary board in a safer location that is responisble for triggering the unlock. At the moment you could just pull the camera off its mount and then short the relay wires to gain access.

    • @SmartSolutionsForHome
      @SmartSolutionsForHome  ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't use this to open a house. Only a wicket/gate in the fence. So it would be much easier to jump over the fence than to short the relay wires :)

    • @SmartSolutionsForHome
      @SmartSolutionsForHome  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks, WiFi is quite "power-hungry". ESP32 could go into Low-Power mode, but then it takes ages to establish the connection. Additionally, if you would like to use a Relay, it's another current ineffective component. So the answer to your question is "yes, but it wouldn't work for a long time" :)

      @@Gianluca23ACDC "for some applications it wouldn't be acceptable" this is such a great observation. If someone made a video of someone installing a wooden door you would say "you have a wooden door so someone could smash in with a sledge hammer, this is not acceptable for high security."
