What I love most about a rewatch, is how you can see each person's conversation change their outlooks, affect their actions, and then ripple into how they affect others.
YES! I love it, I watched most of the reactions there is, but only now I understood that Jinx was walking on the bridge and shooting enforcers while humming song from the times when *enforcers* were walking shotting *them* on the *same* bridge. Perfect cycle. She showed them all. Long before the final scene.
Two things I love in this episode: first, the way the tiny snippet of Mel's backstory TOTALLY changes the way we see her character. She's not suddenly acting different, but we have the context to understand her now. And second, how Caitlyn is always so careful to introduce Vi by name to the people in Piltover that they meet, and make sure they know where she came from. Caitlyn experienced firsthand how important it is to actually see the faces of the people who are suffering and to humanize their struggles. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to have much of an impact on most of the council members.
Little detail not everyone noticed is that while Viktor was doing his transformations, he was using shimmer as a catalyst. But since je ran out, Skye acted as the catalyst, hence why she got turned into ash.

You can be angry at the injustice, but to solve it with violence, a question needs to be asked, the question that Vander so eloquently put it, “Who are you willing to lose?”
Right! It’s not even a straight up “violence is bad” moment. Like you said, “am I ok being responsible for this.” Mistakes can happen even with the best of intentions. And sure “gory” may not be the right word but I think we all generally know what she meant.
That boy wasn't completely innocent, he released the guard after all. But it doesn't make things better, because we see that basically Silco's first line of defence is just kids, who were conditioned into a harsh environment.
@@th3voice And he was the only one (or the first you could say) who ran for it, instead of surrendering, as enforcers instructed. Not that I deem him guilty or deserving death, but he clearly chose his side and would've been alive if he didn't release those guards.

I always find it so interesting that we see Vi, a citizen of the undercity, encouraging a war with Silco, and Cait, someone who's just been in the undercity for a few days, trying to protect it from a war. I just think it's a neat subversion of expectations.
I love how everyone has a different reaction to Mel's mom going off with her new boytoy. Some people are grossed out, others are like "yeah, you go girl".
Been waiting for this episode, what an incredible action piece! At least Kiss doesn't have to wait as long as the rest of us have been to finally get season 2. Vi showing up to the fight will never not give me chills from how cool it is.
One detail I LOVE in this episode: remember in Viktor's flashback when he was struggling to keep up with the toy boat? When he runs for the first time in this episode, he outruns the boats behind him. Such a cool detail!
Interesting thing about Singed in the scene where he's operating on Jinx: my initial impression (as I'm sure is most peoples') is that he's grinning sadistically because he enjoys hurting people. There hadn't been any indication up to that point that he was a secret sadist, but it's not too far-fetched. Then on subsequent rewatches I realized it's probably just Jinx's perception; since his lips are burned off (singed off?) he's constantly baring his teeth. At first it looks like he's smiling as it transitions between Caitlin's face and his real face, then in the final shot of his real face it no longer looks like he's smiling. It's likely that Jinx in her agonized state, was seeing it as a smile and interpreting his words as malicious due to her seeing Caitlin. From what Singed has shown personality-wise so far he's not a completely heartless monster (he exhibited some basic empathy towards Silco and Viktor). Very cold and practical for sure, but not heartless. So I get the feeling his words were genuine sympathy coupled with brutal practicality, and that he wasn't actually smiling. If it were a live action show I'd say I was reading too much into it, but every dang frame of this show was meticulously crafted, so I can't believe it's a coincidence that there's a few moments that showed his face not smiling.
0:43 Interesting how Young Mel highlighted how they should mold a ruler to be their figurehead puppet, after which her mom then offers to place her in a rulership position. I wonder if Young Mel caught that. 😁😁 2:54 I wonder if Jayce's reaction when he saw all those bodies wasn't just about how horrific the sight was, but also a sense of guilt since he put them there in the first place; essentially becoming a sitting duck for this kind of an attack.
Awesome reaction again! I think I’ve watched the series about 3 or 4 times now and not to mention watched countless reactions to it and still there are small details I hadn’t noticed before… like Mel waking up due to the alarms. On a side note, I don’t think those mechanical insects have anything to do with Jayce. I think they are just a part of the steampunk world. You can indeed see them being used to entertain on progress-day in episode 4, and if you are real observant, you can see that Jinx was already working on them. She was busy tinkering with them when Silco came yelling at her for attacking the upper city.
I love the reactions and can't wait for the next!! also seeing Silco's reaction to Jinx, when he ran over after seeing her hurt laying down and carried her off the bridge, when he went to go get help for Jinx and when he didn't find her on the stretcher. Like he truly cares for Jinx as his daughter
So hilarious when Kiss' face exactly matched that of Jayce when Mel's mom gets out of the water. This episode was probably the best you've had with the reactions and facial expressions. So adorable and wonderful. And the episode itself being just filled to the brim with absolute wonder at every turn. So satisfying to watch. Thanks!
Was disappointed with facial expression coming from the reactors. Proving that no one hates strong confident women more than other women. I hope when I'm that age I'm still that tomed and that confident.
“Piltover is the city of progress” In the scene where Heimerdinger is in the undercity and he makes a toy for the little girl, she expresses joy and curiosity before her mother abruptly hushes her away. Piltover is the city of progress but the undercity is the city of fear, abuse, and neglect. Imagine how many great minds went unnoticed simply because they grew up in the ghetto. Viktor was lucky and he got out, meanwhile we see people like Ekko and Jinx even Singed who all show they’re capable of creating great things. Yes Jinx builds deadly weapons and Singed makes addictive drugs but imagine what they could do for the city of progress if they were given the opportunities to thrive. It’s a great parallel to the way in which some of our communities work sadly. God I love this show.
They've made a lot of callbacks and references throughout the show. Only looking at this episode, you can point out: 1. Same shot composition of Jayce leaving his mother in episode 2 and then his mother finding Jayce where she sat back then. 2. Caitlyn speaking with Jayce in episode 2, it was raining and she was using an umbrella (she was quite literally sheltered from the world) and now getting soaked in the rain. 3. Vi looking towards where Silco found Jinx on the bridge and half of her face is covered by metal bars. I'm not sure what this is meant to signify. 4. Sevika upgrading her arm system because it was broken by Caitlyn back in episode 5, so she's switching to manually insertable shimmer cartridges. 5. The kid that Mel's mother is "sampling". I am not sure, but I believe it's the same kid that Caitlyn saw smoking while wearing a mask while they were in the brothel. I have a theory that he might attack Mel's mom down the line because he's getting revenge for killing that girl in the beginning. This is just a guess, though. 6. Viktor overtaking an actual ship as opposed to falling before the toy ship he built as a kid. 7. This is a League of Legends reference but the game features a system of runes. 5 main types: Precision, Domination, Sorcery, Resolve... and Inspiration. The Hexcore features the first 4, Sky's notes has the symbol of the 5th (Inspiration). 8. Vi's gauntlets as opposed to Vander's gauntlets. 9. The fast shimmer soldiers are wearing armor that has extreme similary to an item the game has called Turbo Chemtank, which has the most obvious effect of giving the user a burst of speed. 10. Jinx's monkey symbol from episode 4. There are hundreds more but I find it very very satisfying as a viewer that they leave these details and callbacks all over the place and usually don't outright point them out. It enhances the watching experience greatly.
3. I see this as a parallel of episode 1. Where Vi was surrounded by death on this same bridge as a child, seeing her dead mother, and being powerless and/or paralyzed in the gravity of the situation.
@@_FirstLast_ I believe a more accurate shot was right after Jinx had her butterflies explode (which were a callback to Progress Day episode as well as the butterfly when Jayce got saved by the mage in EP 2). Right after the explosion, the smoke was lit up in the same color palette as in EP 1. I think the metal bars have some sort of significance to the fact that she was locked behind bars in jail OR the fact that half of her face (i.e. one of her eyes) is covered. Still, you might be right also.
Kiss's reaction are gold. And catching stuff you missed before like the necklace in the blood is good too. This actually solidified Mel as my favorite character on the show. I like the brainy types and she's got it in spades. Her mother is just awesome as well.
I can't believe I missed all these little details after watching the show 3 times, the crow's feather on the other episode, the boy from the brothel and mel's painting. and kiss here just casually pointing it out on her first watch. like wtf!
It's so fun watching one person who's seen it and one who hasn't. The "sly smile cause something sick is about to happen" is my favorite feeling when showing someone something I love. Have you guys watched Andor? Andor is as good as this show and such a blast!
Great reactions! Mel’s arc may be my favorite cuz it’s such a slow build and her mother as a mirror to make her realize what she doesn’t want to be is just mind blowingly good writing
Just wanted to say thank you for the reaction series. I'm still not over this show, and I have seen countless reactions to it, but yours is easily top 5, maybe even top 3 for me. Can't wait for the finale.
"I think she's just into him for the money". Mel sees much further than that. Her own mother is a lot more dangerous than the internal strife in Piltover. My favorite depiction of a politician in any story. Including everything between Anna Karenina to West Wing. She reminds me of Marcus Aurelius and he was real!
been rewatching this show (mostly through reaction videos) countless times and I've never thought about Jayce thinking/realizing about the mechanical fireflies being used as a weapon. Good catch :D
Saw a short analyzing Mel’s character. In every other scene before this episode she comes off as grand and in every shot she’s in she’s shown “taller” always made to seem like she’s looking down on others because she has the power to influence those around her. In many of those scenes there’s literally lines in the background pointing downward away from her. As soon as her mother comes into the picture it’s the complete opposite. Mel is portrayed as being talked down to and she even comes off as a bratty teen with her demeanor around her mother. There’s a scene in the next episode that makes me really interested to see how Mel interacts with her mother in the next season…. assuming we’ll get to see those characters interact. Also if you haven’t heard season two is scheduled to be released November-December of 2024
Next week is Finale Friday! You two have likely finished it already. Now, you're stuck with having to wait for more with the rest of us. Jayce's weapon is a combination of both Vi and Jinx. A brutal hammer and a dangerous gun. Take care of yourselves, H & K !!
Love these reactions ladies! I'm with Kiss "I dont want it to end…" was my thought as well after the final episode from this season. So many heartwarming moments, so much tragedy, amazing set pieces, and fantastic action to boot. And good lord the writing and narrative arcs in this show are top notch. Cheers! Looking forward to (also dreading) episode 9 reaction!
3:10 Jayce didn't make the mechanical butterflies, in episode 4 it was a different inventor who showcased the butterflies to the public, later on, when Jinx goes into Piltover to steal the hex gem she's carrying a backpack filled with a variety of other things that she looted from the nearby area including the butterflies. We also see in episode 7 when Jinx goes back into her home to staple the large laceration she received fighting the fire lights on top of a building in episode 6 that there are several mechanical butterflies on her desk and she accidentally destroys one when she throws her weapon onto the table. We also saw in episode 4 when Silco confronts Jinx about her heist that she uses a magnifying glass to take a closer look at the mechanical butterflies to inspect how they are made so she can figure out how they work and how she could potentially alter them to do whatever she wants. Final super secret tip, its been theorized and generally accepted that the mechanical butterflies picked out their targets on the bridge based on the shiny metal found on the guns and armor of the enforcers. Caitlin is therefore actually very fortunate to have traded her gun for the shimmer potion that saved Vi's life as the butterflies skipped her because she no longer had her gun thereby saving her from taking more severe injuries or possibly death. I don't know about you but I find that information to be... amazing? I don't know if I have the right words for it but I am just shocked in a happy way. Hope some of my ramblings were helpful
I think Heimerdinger came to Undercity because of what Jayce told him earlier. All the corruption, poverty, violence... happened under his watch, Jayce blamed him for not doing anything to stop it just because he wanted more "safeguard" for hextech.
Okay I'm not gonna lie, this reaction series has the BEST freeze frames of someone who KNOWS what is coming, and the friend they have dragged along for the ride. This mf drinkin coffee during the Jinx Singed scene, you KNOW what you are doing to your sister
One of the things that I love about this show is that they give us the big set-piece fight scene that... let's be honest, all of the fans have been craving... only to _immediately_ make us feel guilty for it, and force us to face the fact that war has a _lot_ of consequences in human lives. From that kid's perspective, these armored thugs come busting into the place that they earn a living, and start rounding people up... yeah, I can see popping that button to unleash their own defenses. Piltover aren't the good guys, they're the the autocrats that have been exploiting Zaun for... as long as it has been around. They brought this on themselves.
This show iis so insane. I couldn't help but smile when she said that she was stressed in the intro. Knowing that the Jinx operation was coming up I thought "you think that was stressful"?
6:59 "Weapons can't be unmade, and they are ALWAYS used." When you first hear this line, it sounds really deep and clever, but it's actually factually wrong. A few very obvious and commonly known instances, from our own history: 1. Russia had to scrap thousands of their tanks after the collapse of the USSR. Both the US and Russia has drastically been reducing the number of Nuclear bombs they got over decades. 2. Said nuclear bombs were never used. Only 2 bombs have been used for war. A handful of tests have been made, too, but the rest (Thousands) has never been used. This goes for all nuclear nations in the world. A bit heavy to talk about, I know, but it clearly shows that Mel's mom isn't correct. So, the opposite is actually true: Weapons CAN be unmade (Point 1), and they AREN'T always used (Point 2).
I love that when Mel is talking to her mom she tells her she “didn’t fly halfway around the world to sample the local cuisine” and when her mother leaves she spins it back on her, “I’m off to sample the local cuisine”
We can see him in the brothel, in Episode 5. But it's interesting she recognised him, cause he was wearing a lamb mask and we saw only lower part of his face.
I really love this show it was so epic, I'm so glad that knowing it had ties to League Of Legends I still watched it. I know very little about LOL played it enough to know it wasn't my thing. But you don't need to know anything, you miss nothing. The only bad thing about it is the wait for the next ones. I have watched quite a few reactions but yours is hands down my favourite :) But now that Arcane is drawing to a close you are forcing me to watch shows I haven't seen just to continue watching you guys. Can't wait till the next one drops.
I love your reviews. When you finish the season. Please do a review of the “Enemy” video from the show from Imagine Dragons. It has all new footage that was not in the original series and sheds so much light on Jinx & Echo’s relationship when they were young. It’s painfully touching and heartbreaking at the same time. It will make Episode 7 so much more impactful.
“It's over a decade” since Mel has been in Piltover. The time jump is about 6 years. So, how long has Mel been in the Council? They said that the Council has have 7 members since forever, so Mel has had to have replaced a previous counselor. That's an interest question of their own.
Notice how Silco is the one that carries Jinx. He could have gotten one of his goons to do it for him, but she is too precious to him. He had to be the one to carry her to safety.
Really not a fan of Jayce's performance in that fight. They've gone out of their way to show that he has not seen combat or war before (throwing up at the bridge carnage), that he has no combat training of any kind (Caitlyn casually manhandling him in episode 4 when he messes with her hat), and that much like everything else he does, he skates by on pure "talent". It's one of the few things in Arcane I have trouble accepting, because fighting is almost exclusively experience and preparedness - or at least, an inexperienced, unprepared fighter in a life or death struggle will be killed EVERY time. If the hammer had rendered him invulnerable, I could believe it, but the shimmer guards cut his cheek. There's no way that fight doesn't end with Jayce gutted and dying within the first second and a half. It's the first thing in the show that doesn't ring even partially true to me. The workers in the shimmer facility are not ALL kids, but there's a lot of kids there, for sure. Sad state of affairs, certainly, but where else would one expect the kids to be? In the many well-funded public schools? Working on their reading in the local library? Playing sports at the many facilities? Basically... the kids in that factory look less malnourished than Powder did in the first act. Kids in Zaun have been stealing and/or begging for so long that the first scene of the show is a pair of war orphans walking through a battlefield, SINGING A BEGGING SONG about how humble, poor and pathetic their city is and won't one of the wealthy uptowners please give them a pittance for food? Powder, the quintessential tech nerd, was more excited about finding some sandwiches Jayce had left on the bench in his distraction than the cornucopia of gears and gizmos in his workshop... how hungry must she have been? And she had an employed parental figure. We in the west tend to be very quick to rush in and demand the closure of factories where kids are employed in the third world, now that we're out of our industrial revolution, and I agree, kids shouldn't have to work. But we fail at the follow-up every time, because between kids working and kids STARVING, I know which one I (narrowly) prefer. But taking care of the poverty, the deprivation? We don't see that as OUR problem. So we slap a band-aid on a slight rash while their societies bleed out so we can get slightly cheaper clothes and electronics. Of course the kids are in that factory, working. There seems to be regular meals there, as well as safety - until a political figure storms in with stormtroopers and shoots up the place because the last person he talked to convinced him it was a good idea. Good luck on the last episode, hope you enjoy it as much as I did :)
Well, Jace does fight clumsy in that scene. His stance is bad and a lot of blows shouldn't be as devastating as they were. But hextech and pure luck carries him.
@@takonaegi2967 wouldn't have been enough. It's the only time in the show where I'm like nope, every second that newbie survives this fight is a thousand to one, this doesn't work. Vi beating the thugs in ep3? Vaguely, VAGUELY plausible. She's shown to have training, experience and athleticism, and there's no real indication her opponents are actually any GOOD. They're used to intimidating and bullying, not FIGHTING. It's a bit of a stretch but I find it within REASON. Jayce? Nope. No way. His opponents are ruthless, superhumanly fast, and cut through the armed enforcers like they're smoky outlines. None of the enforcers, NONE of them, put up meaningful opposition, and Jayce doesn't only survive but dominate? Not a CHANCE.
@@th3voice I can understand that. Tbf even Vi shouldn't be able to keep up with their speed, considering how fast they were moving when introduced and how Vi still missed hits from Sevika
@@takonaegi2967 yup, though once more, Vi is practiced, experienced and hardened. For her it would merely be mortal danger every moment, not overwhelming death every moment. For all the shimmer tanked guards are fast and mean, Sevika is the strongest hand to hand fighter we've seen in the show so far.
Arcane is good example alternative to Canon version. But riot games is now comfirned as Multiverse. For someone of Arcane/League/Runeterra fans interested in lore of some of favorite charakters you can go play Canon lore Games like Ziggs - Hextech Mayhem - Piltover; Viego - Ruined King Rpg - Bilgewater&Shadow Ilies; Sylas - Mageseeker Rpg - Demacia; Ekko - CONVERGENCE - Zaun. Or you don't want to play just visit Necrit channel where you can watch videos about lore. Ps the last one game is so good as bomb in lore expansion
The sad thing with the council scene is that both sides had very good points. This episode is one of the worst (besides maybe 3) for switching back and forth between hope and sadness. Every time you got really excited about something (Viktor running), they followed it with something horrible (Sky), and then Vi getting the gauntlet. I just wanted a moment to feel a single emotion without 5 more rushing in.

@@chinyereugwu9431I mean in their defense I don’t think they were bothered by her confidence, they were bothered by her being butt-ass naked.
18:26 Everyone when Vi winks:
“Piltover is the city of progress”
In the scene where Heimerdinger is in the undercity and he makes a toy for the little girl, she expresses joy and curiosity before her mother abruptly hushes her away.
Only looking at this episode, you can point out:
The end of episode 3, Vi sees how Silco comes to Powder but she's unable to do anything as Marcus puts her in “protective” custody.
Her gloves in game are militarized version of these miner gauntlets, capable of shockwave punch.
" I don't want it to end" I think everyone felt the same while watching the show for the first time.
Beautiful episode, amazing action, lots of tragedy and intensity... and then that scare at the end!
"He's never ran before" Don't worry I love this scene as well, it means so much to me.
Viktor running on his hextech leg still gives me chills
THERE'S NO WAY SHE'S CONNECTING HIM TO THE MASKED MAN IN THE BROTHEL ON THE FIRST WATCH YOO
Also, remember where Singed is concerned. He had a face before Powder blew it off. So, his enjoying her pain is understandable.
Wow, one of the only reactors ive seen to not be blinded by protagonism and blindly agree with Vi
Whoa, I never thought about the butterflies that way. Totally missed that!
I made the exact same face when Ambessa said “I’m off to sample the local cuisine.”
The lover boy was seen befor in the brotherl in the 4th episode, wearing a mask.
The bigger fish is the guy serving street food in the lanes.
18:26 the Vi effect HAHA
20:12 they animated the light leaving his eyes.
The songs in this show are just amazing
This show iis so insane. I couldn't help but smile when she said that she was stressed in the intro. Knowing that the Jinx operation was coming up I thought "you think that was stressful"?
6:59 "Weapons can't be unmade, and they are ALWAYS used."
When you first hear this line, it sounds really deep and clever, but it's actually factually wrong. A few very obvious and commonly known instances, from our own history:
You might recognized the escort from the Undercity Brothel back in Episode 5. He seemed to be a client that time, though.
Kind of makes some sense for a high end male prostitute to enjoy some lower rate brothels in his free time. Pay it down, so to speak.
Kiss notices some really intricate details.
Everyone before the kid lands: “oh no 🥺”
Everyone after kid opens his eyes: “Why. Are you. Alive?”
06:45 whenever I hear this I visualize Goofy looking " kled" from the game . Memes runied this scene😂😂
12:38
"Do you know who made them?"
"Her name is jinx."
It's the betrayal of vi to undercity and powder , because no undercity sell another.
It's not like she can do so much at this point anyway.
I love that when Mel is talking to her mom she tells her she “didn’t fly halfway around the world to sample the local cuisine” and when her mother leaves she spins it back on her, “I’m off to sample the local cuisine”
"I recognize him, why do I recognize him? Should I recognize him?" ... the male prostitute? If you'd like. :D
We can see him in the brothel, in Episode 5. But it's interesting she recognised him, cause he was wearing a lamb mask and we saw only lower part of his face.
I thought she was mistaking him for the snobby blonde council member.
"No-wuh, wh-what? No, actually--" lmfaoo, mood
6:10 there’s quite a few actually, we’ll see who they choose in season 2 :)
Oooo boy, episode 8 and then 9. You're in the end-game now, Haylo, haha. Episode 9 is a masterpiece of an episode!
The next season comes out the 4th quarter of next year.
and 18:27 Haylo 's in LOVE 😍😇
this is the only show I have watched over 20 times now
Raise your hand if you knew Kiss was going to repeat "shed-u-ahl'
I love your reviews. When you finish the season. Please do a review of the “Enemy” video from the show from Imagine Dragons. It has all new footage that was not in the original series and sheds so much light on Jinx & Echo’s relationship when they were young. It’s painfully touching and heartbreaking at the same time. It will make Episode 7 so much more impactful.
Banana Boat Aloe Vera Gel. Green goop in a bottle it will heal you. I promise.
21:38 why does she sound like the Jennifer Lawrence meme there? xD Like the one where she stands on stage saying "I don't know. What do I do?" xD
“It's over a decade” since Mel has been in Piltover. The time jump is about 6 years. So, how long has Mel been in the Council? They said that the Council has have 7 members since forever, so Mel has had to have replaced a previous counselor. That's an interest question of their own.
Awaiting the reaction to the silver dinner platter scene.
They're all kids abandoned, orphans left in Zuan to fend for themselves. Silco gave them a chance to work for something more. 😢
this 💯/💯
Not all of them orphans though
Someone got too close to the Hex-Core and got a sun-burn 😉
Notice how Silco is the one that carries Jinx. He could have gotten one of his goons to do it for him, but she is too precious to him. He had to be the one to carry her to safety.
Sweet Kiss is not ready for the finale. Cannot wait to see another reactor turned to a sobbing mess to validate my own feelings
@21:26……will she see her?…..will she?………..will…she…? YES!!!! 🧿🧿
The guy at 7:10 was at the whore house in the lanes, he's wearing a white mask with a red symbol.
kiss got soe heavy sunburn there, gotta use that sunscreen yo
Season 2 coming winter next year
so excited for episode 9
Love watching the reactions. You guys could also react to the LOL cinematics. Especially 'Warriors', I think your sister would love it.
After ep 9 you should check that "making of arcane"
Someone's been in da sun lol
Feel free to have some discussion guys…….
Yeah, it's a good reaction but they should sum it up at the end.
Kiss is thrashing around uncomfortably as Jinx struggles and Silco attacks the doctor, and then she sees Heimerdinger and everything changes.
You guys should watch cyberpunk: edgerunners
The sad thing with the council scene is that both sides had very good points. This episode is one of the worst (besides maybe 3) for switching back and forth between hope and sadness. Every time you got really excited about something (Viktor running), they followed it with something horrible (Sky), and then Vi getting the gauntlet. I just wanted a moment to feel a single emotion without 5 more rushing in.
Sun burn. Hope you slept well. :)
have to be my fav reacts rn.
Can't wait for the last episode.. :)
7:18 yes, he is one of the people you saw in the "naughty club" (forget what it's called)
Can't believe one more episode but at least season 2 is confirmed 🙌 great job & somebody been sitting in the sun be careful 😉 take care ladies & hope your weekend is full of good vibes and laughter 🌻🌺🩷🐝
