It was highly suspicious that Mel didn't immediately get killed at the memorial in episode one with one of the intruders standing right over her. Of course that was because her mom was behind and manipulating the attack for her own ends.
That felt very odd to me but I just shrugged it off eventually. I seriously doubted the writers but of course every piece of information they show is vital to the story
True.. but also...it was a flare...and a 1-time shot...if u wanna talk about real. He had to signal the ship , that was the obj. "Convenient movie logic" seems harsh to me ... maybe in that specific moment until u think about it ..
@elmutcher4596 True, but the show highlighted the threat to Mel by showing her literally looking down the barrel of the gun. It showed how easily she could be killed there and the guy wasn't searched so he could have any number of weapons on him. Her being spared in that situation was a red flag.
What you were saying at around 23:25 with Viktor leaning over the edge is actually super spot on, I totally forgot about all that even happening. That's gotta come up later, there's no way him leaning over the edge there wasn't to tease the fact that there's a massive adaptive rune in Zaun. They planned this all out like 9 years ago now.
bro, chill up... there only 18 episodes of arcane, if we count the next 6 will complete this season. its not a long, full 300 episodes of planned plotlines and foreshadowings, its a short story condensed in a 2 season plot. smart details yes, but not impossible or even that hard to do with competent people writing, jesus
I never linked Victor looking down the Hexgate and getting that vision before ... very interesting indeed 🤔 Liked the excitement and emotion of your reaction and the analysis afterwards clearly shows you both have an eye for details ... 👍
My theory about the Arcane going wild is that Victor in season 1 dropped blood on the Hex core causing the corruption or reaction starting at the bottom, the same way that happened in his lab when he faints.
Yeah, ppl are saying that corruption on the ground that Heimer saw there, was the blood Vik droped past season, but not just that, there would be corrupted because, all the people that was being transported over the years with the Hexgates would be causing the same fusion effect there. Really crazy things going on, damn Hex Jesus
id make sense, magic being inherently bad would be pretty disappointed tbh and would mean all mages in Runeterra guilty of an unknown crime, not to mention Demacians having the "right" of being the racist sh1ts they are. But if its blood magic what causes it to be bad not only it would be better for the lore, but that would make much more sense since in the end the Darkins turned extremely evil because of using blood magic.
@@Luky.73 Viktor having a serious illness could also play a factor. His blood and sickness could be contaminated from the pollution he experienced as a child. The hexcore interacting with specifically his blood could have led to this. Or it could not, and just any biological matter could have brought the same results 🤷♂
When Caitlyn's mom "instructed our architects to devise a ventilation system", it was actually the builders under Silco (Silco, the industrialist, as topside knew him back then) who built it. That's why Silco said to the chem barons "I offered you a taste of topside, fresh air" last season. And that's why Caitlyn wasn't the only one who inherited the full control of the ventilation system from a dead parent.
3rd! Seeing sisters react to this is peak. I think one sad thing I perceived is that Caitlyn has already changed, one of Vi’s themes also is not accepting change or not realizing it’s already happened. I think Caitlyn has already changed mentally and in sad way, only kissed Vi to give her false reassurance. Also, if you look at episode one of season 2, after Mel is able to convince the counsel of not using hextech, Ambessa nods at her main guard, that’s when he goes to manipulate the situation. And the other one I liked is when Mel talks to the Vastaya women (Vastaya are half fox, half human race in runeterra), the play they are showing is re-actment of crowing of "Jarvan 4 on Demacia kingdom. Jarv IV is the king of demacia." And last one off the top of my head, just like episode 3 of first season, this time Vi is left on her own and lost everybody. I’m glad Ambessa is the first noxian most people will see because she has utilized the 3 pillars of strength of noxus that is Might : becoming a champion should prove it. if not, we'll see in the future. Guile : tricking a chem baron into attacking only to betray them and sowing a seed of hatred in Caitlyn and piltovian. Vision : securing 2 members in council. pledge herself to Caitlyn and use her to further her own gain. I just hope slightly for general audiences they flesh out her a little bit more and make her nuanced. I’m not against the typical good guy prevails against outright villain, just I feel like Riot made such a good show many complex and nuanced characters in the first season, I hope they can do with this season, at least for general audiences. She definitely cares about her family and just know the "man" her son crossed, if they are eluding to what fans know...he's VERY POWERFUL...I don't blame Ambessa for being scared af.... This show is very good at show, don't tell. So many times I wish more dialogue was written or I wrote in my own, but they left it up to audience to interpret the situation on their own perceptions I also told some friends and mentioned in some comments, I was personally not all surprised all of this happened in Act 1. If you watch the first season trailer, they basically don't reveal anything past act 1, I found it predictable, but.... I still found it absolutely thoroughly enjoyable. I am obviously probably biased as I am part of the many fans that knew most of this world coming into this show. But I am so glad you are along for this ride. P.s. also quite dark, but I fully believe Jinx was ready and wanting to die again and was going to have herself and whomever else that might've died, flown up through the fans...and we can piece what happens when that happens. Quite morbid and sad.
I appreciate that you guys had a reaction to Vi denying Jinx is her sister. I haven't seen anyone else really comment on it, or maybe even agreeing with it, which I think is really sad. Jinx may not be Powder, but she's still Vi's little sister.
Cait took a taste of what has been done to zaunits for decades, she has the right to be pissed off about her mother's death and to Jinx. But becoming radicalized and rationalising it, gazing people and becoming a military leader ...
I mean... Ambessa knows shes in a bad space and so is a lot more easily to manipulate - and thats what she does because shes good at it. So of course Caitlyn would take the position especially with a room of people supporting you and saluting you on. And on the topic of the Grey, lets not forget Vi had zero problem using the Grey as well and it was either make people clear an area so they could safely target the Chembarons instead of the other option - sending in the Enforcers and Noxian soldiers to god full hog and try to clear out the Chembarons and track down Jinx which would have had countless civilians caught in the crossfire and this was pointed out in the show. Use the Grey to limit civilian risk or just let a bunch of them die by invading.
Haylo looking at the Cameron at the merchant guild was me with my friends when I saw this as well. Being the only one to know/play the game is so funny here.
The whole thing with The Grey is such a great demonstration of how total the oppression of Zaun by Piltover is. Every essential thing, down to the very air they breathe, is controlled by Piltover, and could be switched off in a second if Piltover really wanted to.
That "Wispy Wind Woman" is Janna! Shes a wind spirit and looks after the people of Zaun who are in unfortunate times. Vander probably told Vi and Jinx about some of her folktales when they were kids. The "Chanting" in the back of the song is actually a prayer to Janna, spoken in the native tongue of the civilization of Shurima. It no longer exists, as it was destroyed and its people we're displaced, but many of them immigrated to Zaun, hence why the song is in their language. The prayer translates roughly to this "Beyond our walls the storm's fury grows. Over the land and sea, the storms fury grows. But I have nothing to fear. For the Blue Bird is with me!" The Blue Bird refers to Janna, as her legend started on the seas. Before intense storms or unforgiving winds, Sailors would report seeing a Blue Bird flying in the direction of the storm. Some reports even say they saw the bird transform into a woman with long silver hair, and a staff twice her body length, who could will the wind to flow in any direction she chose with just a flick of her wrist. The optimistic sailors chose not to see the bird as a bad omen, but as a helpful warning, and thus those who worship Janna (who really isn't a God btw) wear a pendant featuring a diving blue bird.
The end scene freaks me out and rattles me down to the core more than EVERYTHING ELSE in the whole show, even Viktor's stuff and Amara being a witch. My favorite character of this whole IP is going to debut in Arcane.
I must admit, I found the first two episodes a little fast-paced. But the third one brought me back to the tracks. A small comment on the arcane: in my interpretation, we could make an example with fire. Let's imagine that in all our accumulated experience as a species, we come to the conclusion that every time a person brandishes fire, the fire burns, because of humanity's "problematic relationship with power," more or less what Heimer said. But then, we see that fire also burns other animals and other things, even when there is no person to use it. So, the fact that fire burns is a property of fire, independent of who wields it and the intentions they have
@2:20 we should NOT feel good about it lol. Caitlin IMMEDIATELY resorted to biological warfare and being willing to kill children to get revenge, then became a military dictator - she has gone full Eren!
Except she didnt kill children. The Greys effects look like its got the same effects as something like tear gas - irritation of the eyes, hard to breathe, etc but its not like its some nerve agent. On top of that they even mention that its either go in and invade which gets countless people killed, or use the grey to clear an area and limit civilian risk while clearing out the Chembarons and hunting for Jinx. Not only that, Vi, someone from Zaun is onboard with the whole idea.
@17:55 Honestly this moment right here is like my least favorite part of season 2 so far. Not because of what cait did or that it was a bad thing to do (in terms of storytelling/character progression), it's Vi's reaction, and cait's reaction. It felt too thought out. IMO a more realistic reaction here would've been more shock, and possibly some immediate regret on caitlyn's side. But Vi is just IMMEDIATELY crying after being fairly aggressive in her attempt to get caitlyn to think about what just happened earlier, and cait seems very decidedly angry, not even caring to think about what she just did, almost feeling as if she thought ahead about it and it wasn't an impulsive move. And most importantly that doesn't really feel in line with who cait and Vi are as people, especially with cait saying earlier that she recognizes the fact that she's wrong in her blatant hatred of the people of Zaun, because of Jinx. And yet this moment feels like she threw Vi into that camp without regretting it. Just felt a bit pushed/rushed imo. Not even saying it's that bad of a scene, just took me out of my immersion when I first saw it. Idk, I'm probably overanalyzing it, was just kind of disappointed by that interaction specifically, even more so in hindsight.
