    Your sons a lucky lad. Not only a free car but free leccy I expect, can't believe hes 17 now. You should consider a video of handing over the keys, followed by him selling it and getting a hideous cheap diesel and pocketing the cash!! As for your next EV maybe the soon to be released MG4 performance?

    A quick update. Used EV prices have crashed. My own 30kWh Leaf has gone from £14500 to around £7600 in value over the last few months. A quick Cazoo valuation on Ian's Zoe has it now valued at £7575, a little over half of the value mentioned in the video. It seems like supplies of new EVs has opened up, lots of cars are now coming of lease deals and the anti EV noise is working and putting people off. Slapping road tax onto EVs also seems to have had a disproportionate effect. For most people, you will do most of your driving at home. Get the right tariff and you will still be able to enjoy motoring at around 2 to 3p per mile🙂. Public charging is much more, but still comparable to a very efficient petrol or diesel on a good day on a long run. Overall, most people will still be much better off with an EV and wont be pumping out pollutants from the exhaust.

      Cazoo seems to get confused with 1. 22kwh and 2. Battery owned or leased.
      The 41kwh, QUICK charge, battery owned like mine is circa £12-£14 currently on autotrader, such as:
      www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202303034861267
      The ads certainly dont help as never clear on battery owned, or even sometimes battery kwh! Minefield.

    Leaf is way better than Renault zoe. My leaf just did its 7th MOT no single fault. Leaf built quality and reliability is hard to match. Yes battery chemistry could be poor but its fall down to where and how its been used. I still got 81.35% SOH.11bars. 2013 Registered Japan leaf. Amazing and going strong

    I remember the early videos. Think £14K is a bit optimistic - GT Line R135 50kwh are circa £16K I know some have issues with safety changes, but all are battery included. Your's is battery included not lease unlike many at the time but buying out a lease is not such an issue or major cost as it once was. I'm considering either as I don't do that many long journeys and 120 miles of range would be fine.

    Yours is a 67 plate, so it's 5 years old. I also have a 67 plate ZE40 nearing 50,000 miles, and I agree with everything you say - it's a great utility car, and the headlights are rubbish!
    Mine's cost me nothing more than tyres and servicing, but Renault put a new motor in under warranty (excessive whining due to worn brushes) which cost them over 3 grand!
    I think your valuation is optimistic, you can get 2yo ZE50s for 16k now, so I guess ours are more like 11 or 12. Your son is still getting a massive bargain! :)
    I'm interested to see what you get next - I'd like something with a bit more space and range (and CCS charging), but the 64kWh Kias are still over 20k and I don't really fancy an MG5.

    With the repairs its not so much the labour but the parts are so expensive with Renault, if you can get them with older fuel cars.

      @@IanSampsonRLO yea love it so far.. Only reason I could afford it was because the zoe trade in price was so good.. Only Downside so far is a odd clunk sound from the back sometimes but read that's common and no heat pump.. Which shocked me.. Part from that.. Miles better than the zoe for features and drives great.... I look forward to see what you pick next.

    We are on our 2nd Zoe the first one was battery owned & went up in value in the 2 years we owned it by 10%. We have 4 BEVs in the family, all doing long journeys frequently, we love them. Someone made a comment about NCAP in the comments, which I think says more about NCAP than it does about Zoes!

    • @mpwaterhouse
      @mpwaterhouse 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@IanSampsonRLO Yes indeed same in the US most used EVs have significantly dropped in value my timing was good buying a 2013 Fiat 500e with 70,000 miles in 2019 for a mere $5000 ( ~ £4100 ) The average selling price today for the same model even with the now 80,000 miles on the clock is around $7000 ( £5700). Possibly more for my model as it is the particularly sought after colour = spangled orange with white interior.

    I’ve got a feeling that you’ll choose a Tesla M3, since they’ve recently been reduced in price.
    Your son is definitely a lucky lad, though have you checked the cost of insurance? Adding my daughter as a learner to my Honda e more than quadruples my premium and none of the temporary insurance companies will offer a price, so she’s been learning in my 2001 Toyota MR2 😂. I recommend looking into temp insurance for your son each time you take him out in your own car(s) as it’s only been £5-7 for 2-4 hours each time to add my daughter.

    • @IanSampsonRLO

      @@IanSampsonRLO I’ve found Veygo to be the best for our circumstances. I just set it up 15-30 mins before we head out but you can arrange for it to start as soon as pay or for a future day.

    • @MikeBookham
      @MikeBookham ปีที่แล้ว

      I forgot to mention you’ll also need to have insurance on the Zoe under someone else’s name and not your son’s for most temp learner insurance, but you’ll probably be surprised how cheap it could be. I’ve got 3 cars separately insured and only 1 has full NCD at £250, whilst the other 2 have no NCD, one cost me £100, the other £175 pa.
