Wow! Where have I been? Working too hard I guess I knew about Dick Clark, but had no ideas Benny passed recently 😭Into the night, and into the Heavens RIP 😭
There will never be another talent in the world of entertainment as dynamic as Benny Mardones. Gifted vocalist, thrilling performer, international sex symbol, and tireless humanitarian. Thank you.
I just discovered Benny passed away June 29, 2020. I am just heart broken to hear this. Rest in Peace, my love. It didn't even make the rounds on the news circuit. You are no longer suffering in pain with Parkinson's disease. You are now singing every night in front of a packed house in Heaven, before God, Jesus, and all the Angels. We will always love you, Benny, and this will always be OUR song! You have finally been lifted up into the sky!!!
I grew up in the 70's/ 80's and heard "Into The Night" on the radio constantly, but honestly, I never knew who sang it, what he looked like, or anything about him. I just saw a clip of the music video for the song on Instagram and went searching here on TH-cam. I've always loved this song. How very sad that no one even mentioned his passing on the news. I watched an interview with Benny and he seemed like a very kind man.
Love this guy.His speaking voice is good, but when he sings, omg, the sound of his voice blows me away, nobody has a voice like Benny xoxo.Love the fact he respects the flag!
He stayed true to his heart most of his life's Journey. Was very heart broken about the news. Benny Died the same year my dad died from Corona Virus. My dad liked this kind of music. Like you said, life is short, make the most of it and try to have a meaningful impact on someone's life in a great way. Love you Benny see you in The Kingdom of the True Christ from Heaven!
Oh, and he was a blast to hang out with! He was one of my best friends for the last 11 years of his life. Before he met Jane, he and I had dinner with two women in their, I think, early 30s at the time. It was hilarious because he was 5'3 and I'm 5'10 and the SHORTER of the two women was 6'3. I knew the women but had not met them in person and didn't know in advance how tall they were. He and I had worked out a signal when we got to the restaurant - if we were feeling it, he'd tell a story about his cat. If not, I'd ask what his neighbor was up to that evening. The ladies were barely seated and Benny blurted out, "So, do you ladies like cats?" The man loved his Davidoff cigars and we solved many of the world's problems out on his veranda over the years. I really miss him.
When he got older, his voice got deeper and took on a gravelly tone. Sort of like what happened with Al Pacino. Benny's later albums (he recorded many) show the change in his voice over the years. Toward the end it was different and magnificent in a new way.
THE voice! Benny Mardones. We bow our heads in silent reverence to a man amongst men. Rest in peace Benny, you never got the recognition you so rightfully deserved,....... But we remember.
They had good chemistry on stage… Benny seemed like a really good guy, respectful … Happy journey brother, and thanks for such great music while you were here !
I just listened to Benny explain the reason he wrote Into The Night ,heartbreaking ,that man’s voice went right into my soul ,greet voice gone too soon.
My prayers are with you Jane and the entire family at this time. I loved to hear him sing Into the Night. It has a special meaning to me though I was young when I first heard 17 I am now 60 and still hold this guy in my heart. God bless you all.
Awe I did not know Benny passed into everlasting life. I truly believed he wrote “Into the night” for me..I was that 16 year old girl and he was 10 years older… Fast forward 35 years. 33 married raised a family and two sons and have a beautiful granddaughter!! We are both FREE Benny! RIP 🎶💙🙏🏽🕊
Ruben Armand Mardones Born November 9, 1946 Cleveland, Ohio, U.S. Died June 29, 2020 (aged 73) Menifee, California, U.S. Genres Blue-eyed soul, soft rock Instruments Vocals Years active 1978-2017 Labels Polydor, Curb, Warrior Associated acts Robert Tepper Ruben Armand "Benny" Mardones (November 9, 1946[1][failed verification] - June 29, 2020) was an American pop singer and songwriter noted for his hit single "Into the Night,"[2] which hit the Top 20 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart twice, in 1980 (#11) and again in 1989 (#20). Mardones was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in 2000 but continued to tour and perform until the mid-2010s. In July 2018, he underwent deep brain stimulation to reduce his motor symptoms, but complications from multiple surgeries resulted in coordination issues that resulted in repeated falls and hip injuries. Mardones died on June 29, 2020, at age 73 from complications of the disease.
That was a wonderful interview. I enjoyed it. Dick Clark was an amazing man, who skyrocketed so many careers. Benny, was Benny. A kind, sweet , very Talented Man. May they both Rest In Peace! ❤🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🧡
In the song "Into the Night", the actual story is Benny was telling Bobby, "Aw come on man, she's just 16 years old, leave her alone" in response to an uninformed but innocent comment Bobby made about Benny's neighbor. They were on the tail end of an all-nighter where they had developed the track for the song but couldn't find lyrics. At that moment Benny said, "Hey Bobby, play that riff for me again?" and he pretty much wrote the whole song on the spot.

He was addicted to cocaine at the time (why he was shaking in this clip) and... blew it... right before the release of the follow-up album ("Too Much to Lose") when he had a falling-out with his producer at the time. The good news is, he did recover and end up leading a full, rich life with a career that continued until he retired from performing in 2017. A dance version of Into the Night charted in 2019. He was a good friend of mine for the last 11 years of it. RIP
Heard he lived in Menifee Ca. My nephew lives there been living there before Benny passed away i wish I went to Menifee years ago and try to get his autograph It would of met a lot he is a great person and Singer RIP
I dreamt the song in my sleep last night. I write poetry and lyrics. I have cancer and my surgery is on 3/8 2018 and they're taking it out. 3 + 8 equals 11. Now I did not know his birthday was on 11 11 ... now stay with me keep reading... I'm one of these individuals who keep seeing 1111 or the combination of numbers that equal 11 every day from my waking moment until I lay my head on the pillow. It doesn't count if you're looking for it the numbers 11 11. There's a name for this Saga called the 11:11 phenomenon. Well I was looking for the song Into the Night, I saw that his birthday November 11th which is 1111 I did not know that! If you're still singing Benny I encourage you to look into this phenomenon , look at what's being said on both sides of the coin. Write a song about it for me please... I used to only look for the tarnished side of a coin, because I was jaded young girl but now I'm 49 and I'm at peace with the Lord and have a beautiful family though we are estranged and states and States apart. I have a ton of hard copy poetry dating back since I was 12 years old when into the night was written. I believe the words to the song and your voice prompted me to write actually. And I'm trying to get published before I die. I have a MS but I don't look it or act it because of the type of MSI have relapsing-remitting. Is that a big enough sob story for you? I'm not trying to ride on the coattails of your success I can do that on my own because I know that I'm good but it may be all that I have left behind is a book of unpublished papers and art and nothing more. And that's ok! But something told me ... perhaps an angel to look up this video as soon as I woke up and I saw your birthdate and light bulb literally almost fried my brain so if anybody's reading this please get the message to Benny mardones that at least I tried. Also used to be in a band as the female backup vocals and I can wail but not like you Benny baby not like you peace brother... Love Michelle Bolin
Shel Cat. Hi Shel hope you are going good. Benny has Parkinson's and he doesn't perform anymore. He still has that great voice though. Stay in prayer for a healing.🙏

There is a final performance of his famous song and he says “please don’t forget me!” 😢

Steve Perry is the voice everyone compares this guy to-- Benny's voice doesn't compare with Steve's.
Yes, about our flag. That doesn't seem to be taught much these days.
Yo creo que cuando grabó la canción itn lo hizo con tal fuerza que nunca lo pudo repetir... Es una voz de leyenda... Grande benny
Oh man, his patriotic talk just made me love him all the more. The voice that stole my heart!
So right you are.
This song is just genius. I remember this playing at the skating rink at couples skate. Wow the 80s. Please come back.
Benny is REAL. Don't think he would be too happy about the current situation today. RIP Benny.
Benny was a friend of mine for many years. I can verify he was unhappy with some of what we see today.
@@adamhommey I believe it.
