I have just discovered your channel and I'm so glad that my ideas on most of the things are actually backed up by professionals. I have to say you are a great guy who doesn't just put his brands stuff out there. I love the way you admit to mix and matching. It makes me proud to know my gut has been right since childhood. Lucas, a good H harness for people like us is the Mission Spec Rack Straps. It’s more narrow in the back, staying up closer to the shoulders. I mainly just prefer H harnesses because they are easier for me to put on more quickly in an emergency. But if you wanted an H harness, that one would probably work for you

    • @calebburrichter8452
      @calebburrichter8452 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      What is the benefit of the one you recommended over a Haley, or Spiritus H harness? I’m a skinny dude with a Micro Fight X harness. Kinda looking for what I would replace it with.

    • @ruthlessreviews1283
      @ruthlessreviews1283 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@calebburrichter8452 personally, I find the H harness much better to put on more quickly than a X harness. Spiritus makes a good H harness, and I hear the Haley one is good if you can find it. The Mission Spec one is very affordable and well made, with lots of adjustability, which is good for us skinny dudes. The only downside is there is generally a pretty long wait time for their products. But if you already have something that works and can kick up 25 bucks and are okay with the wait, I think it’s a good upgrade

    I can recall two US Army vets I've met who survived an AK round to the head (probably 7.62x39). One guy was in Vietnam in 1969 and the other in Mosul, Iraq in 2007. Both got lucky that the bullet struck not quite square with the helmet, however, both guys had a really gnarly halo like scar from the bullet riding along the inside of the helmet and following the curve, cutting deep into the head. Both guys were still knocked unconscious and pretty much survived by chance.
    Helmets do not stop rifle rounds, even intermediate rounds.

    For a budget ballistic helmet, a great option is buying a used US military CVC helmet, buy a Team Wendy BOA retention system, and your favorite choice of shroud and helmet rails. Put it all together and you get a ballistic helmet built from all US made parts. Looks and functions like an ops core, for around $300.

    FYI there are eBay sellers that lie about being in and shipping from the US.
    I’m in Tennessee and just got something “located in and shipping from Georgia,” which should take 2 days. It showed as “shipped” for almost a month, with a USPS tracking number, but the tracking info always showed “USPS waiting to receive item.”
    Right at a month it arrived, covered in “China Post” stamps and stickers, with a USPS shipping label on top of them, obviously added once it arrived in the US.
    Contacting the seller got me lies every time: “yes we shipped it, just wait another day please,” over and over, for a month. (And in horrendous English, even for someone allegedly in the South here.) And the item was an unusable piece of garbage, but that’s sort of beside the point.

      Also it just happened again. Bought some stainless steel metric bolts for my motorcycle that were “shipping from California.” There was instantly a US tracking number, but it never updated for a couple weeks. Then suddenly it started moving in CA, and I got it in TN 2 or 3 days later.
      It had a USPS label slapped over a much larger China Post label. I’m glad I wasn’t in a hurry for the parts.

    Nice amassment of headgear and plate carriers. I am curious, why there aren't any ballistic protection around the neck? That is an extremely vulnerable and deadly area that should have some mitigating protection. The Flak Jackets issued before the US Army switched over to plate carriers, had neck protection. I know you lose some mobility, but I think the protective benefits weigh more than mobility in many cases. Some folks wear flak jackets and plate carriers together. Any thoughts on using Flak Jackets?

    About zip one back panels. I'd be a fan of one that is strictly for water for a low price point meant for duty. If I'm dismounted most often I'm gonna carry an assault pack with water in it. If I'm mounted all day then I can have my water on me still. Then if we have to dismount for whatever reason I've got water on me and I don't have to waste time getting into the truck to get my assault pack.
