    I like how Samsung are always trying new things and experimenting on their devices, That's what i like about Samsung and other android companies, they try new things to make their phones better and cooler.

      *****
      Realise what? the same looking phone every year? They change only the OS, some technical features and SLIGHTLY the design, but it still looks the same. There's still no major difference.

      functions, hardware technologies, optimalization, it LOOKS the same, aye, but it's far from the same. same looking phone? look at the samsung galaxies, they are all the same, all recent htc phones, all based on the popular htc one design, sony? all the same squares with their round sleep btton on the sides. please look up what new techs apple introduced the past 3 years
      touch ID (motorola had a fingerprint scanner before but that jsut sucked balls, everyone agrees on that), siri (at the time it was awesome), 64bit CPU architecture on phones (samsung said in a press release after te announcement of the iphone 5s that their first 64bit smartphones would come out within three months, still didn't happen), nano sim, high res displays (they were first on that back in 2010). apple tries enough, but there's too many companies blatantly copying their new features the moment they are out so everyone forgets apple actually made them popular.

    • @shanil857
      @shanil857 10 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Seems the same to me, the iPhone 5 look better to me than the 6 and all they did was make the screen bigger and didn't even take advantage of it, not that i hate iPhones, I like iPhone but find android phones better because of the features they have. You saying other companies are copying Apple but i believe they are copying each other, Apple is now copying the big screen and other features that Samsung and Android phones has and same vise versa that i haven't seen yet. The note 4 has amazing specs, features, and I find it attractive, very. Every new phone that a phone company release will have better specs than the previous model lets be real now.

    I respect Samsung for inventing something new and actually innovating smartphones to a different level, something apple should do instead of ripping their sheeps off with a big phone that can't even take advantage of the big screen and costs $1000 ...

      chris thoms with the note edge or note 4, u can buy a 64gb memory card WITH the extra 32gb phone storage for less than $30 ... With iPhones, u have to spend an extra $100 for every upgrade in space, complete rip off

      Abubaker Alzuaree hypocrite. Nexus 6 doesn't take any additional advantage of the 5.96" display AND internal storage is always superior to SD cards even class 10 SDHC
      also seems you aren't aware of the price on contract of this phone

    I commend Samsung for actually coming up with new ideas and pushing it, unlike Apple, where they seem recycle old ideas and rebrand them as new. People can hate and say this looks ugly or its pointless, but this is just the beginning. Samsung is experimenting curved displays and sooner or later we will see flexible displays. Maybe even bezeless and transparent devices. Samsung is all about the future and I like that about them.. Just ditch TouchWiz for god sake

    • @toons416
      @toons416 10 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      samsung is all about gimmicks !! they rush ideas to try to get ahead of apple and fail (smart watch,,and a few others) apple perfects innovations so they have a really useful function ,,70%of samsung so called advantages are basically useless

    • @sirhcmods
      @sirhcmods 10 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      thumper416 Samsung makes experimental products. They were the first to start the big screen era. They are the first to actually launch bendable screens. What has Apple innovated? Please answer that! I really wanna hear this *grabs* *popcorn*

    I have to say this is by far the best review video of the Note Edge. I've watched a couple of other review videos by other quite well-known reviewers on the TH-cam, but they all fail to show me what is so special about this device and what it is capable of. Detroitborg shows me almost every possible aspect and functionality of this phone in a clear and organized manner, instead of just telling me 'Oh, this feature is useless' without actually showing me what it really looks like. Of course, this might have much to do with my personal preference. I like those reviewers who tells you sufficient information about the device and let you decide for yourself.

  • @edgesurre1831
    @edgesurre1831 10 ปีที่แล้ว +13

    Thanks Mike, as usual I learned about 3 new features just from watching your review. I have the black version and have no light leak like you experienced. I have come to really enjoy using the Note Edge and find a lot of the dismissive tech reviewers, who obviously never even held the device, to be totally wrong. I actually prefer this to my Note 3, and am glad I went for it over the Note 4! I have come to rely so heavily on the favorite apps and task manager panels, that going back to a conventional phone will seem weird! I also like the power button on top because I always tend to hit the side mounted ones accidentally. I just hope Samsung continues to refine and develop it. I still say, if apple came out with this first, the tech reviewers would be calling it the resurrection of Steve Jobs instead of "quirky and wacky"... Thanks for your fair evaluation!

      yes samsung adds useless feature that apple's phones don't have, but ios is the smoothest OS in the world, touch id works way better than swipe method in galaxy s5 and note 4, iphone performs apps way better , producers make apps and update them for ios first,but apple deosn't put useless heartrate sensor' curved displayand air gestures in their phone and that's why stupid like you that haven't even work with iphone make fun of iphones and apple fan boys so use an iphone first then come and talk about it .

The Galaxy Note Edge is in a league of its own meant for people who aren't afraid to spend some extra cash for something different. THANK YOU for giving a different review. I've watched more than a few reviews of this thing, and you're the first one to mention, say, the fact that the volume buttons are different, or the fact that the S Pen works with the edge display, and you explained the homescreen layout in depth, and made a real effort to compare screen height and width in comparison to the Note 4. And you had the same information on top of this new stuff, so thank you for providing a real review.

    I appreciate the effort of trying to accommodate left handed people, but as a left-handed person...the effort fails. At some point, like if you want to call you'll have to re-flip the phone because the speaker is on the wrong end.
    For the price of the phone, they should just make a left handed version, or a "dual-edge" phone instead.

    1. Best phone walk through I've ever seen. This was exactly what I was looking for. No fluff, concise and well presented.
    2. First TH-cam tech video I have seen in months that didn't have swearing every 13 seconds.
    I have a quick question - sorry if it's been asked but there are almost 2,000 replies here :)
    In your video when you are showing all of the software shortcuts that can be configured - I must have seen every single social networking app that has every existed in the history of Earth, as well as countless other apps of every type. Are all of those preinstalled? I hate bloatware so I'm just curious as to how much 'stuff that I don't want' is preloaded.
    Thanks! Going to check out more of your videos now :)

    I find the phone useless, except for the fact that you can access apps without having to back to your homescreen, but really... a curved phone from one side? Why would anyone come up with something so weird looking? And i hope someone comes up with a great case and screen protector for that phone because it seems almost impossible.

    • @radangel_
      @radangel_ 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      And another thing, i usually hold my phone with my left hand and im right handed, im assuming right handed people do the same, but the fact that the curved part is on the right side of the phone is even more useless to me, and no i do not want to use a phone upside down, which is rediculous. I feel like Samsung is just trying to release anything without even thinking about it, and you can clearly tell since the phone before the edge is the exact same one, excluding the curve on the side feature

    • @radangel_
      @radangel_ 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      ***** and people like you are even more stupid, i may be stupid but not stupid enough to get a phone that is curved from one side.

    • @SaraiMalik
      @SaraiMalik 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      At least they didn't come up with just a longer phone and flatter phone and called it 'Samsung S6'. It's a matter of perspective. You only look at how 'weird' it looks but the curved side makes it easier to access some things faster. This phone is also amazing looking to me.

    • @comedyman112
      @comedyman112 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Roberto A. Delgado i bet that in 2011 you said note 1 was just as weird. remember, all the "weird" things need time for you to get accustomed with them, but they might actually be nice. like the phablet i'm talking about and which every brand adopted

    This video explains the Edge's true potential. I like that you can answer phone calls without screen interruption and that the Egde expands multitasking capabilities but I'm sold on the ease of access to your favorite apps. When using an app there is no need to click the home button to search for another app. Just swipe the edge display and click on your favorite app to access it instantly!!!!
    I had trouble chosing between the Note4 or the Note Edge. I think its time to try something new and unconventional.
    Thankyou, no other video has explained the Edge's practicality with such clarity.

    I'm not trying to hate but this doesn't get my attention. Galaxy is just trying to be more than Apple and it's just not going to happen. They shouldn't even bother.

    • @sailormoonfish
      @sailormoonfish 10 ปีที่แล้ว +43

      At least they're trying new things (not like Apple), just because you don't like it doesn't mean is bad for everyone. And let's be honest A LOT of people hate what apple is doing right now

    • @bryanmills916
      @bryanmills916 10 ปีที่แล้ว +20

      Alejandro Gllrd That why I dont like apple, basically the same stuff each year. Idc how big they phone get nothing changed on it

    • @TheSkipAJ
      @TheSkipAJ 10 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Bryan Mills Camera, new sensors, faster chip, Apple pay, better AND bigger screen, all new design and iOS 8. This is the EXACT same as the Note 4 but the screen goes a little bit to the side so just no

    • @sailormoonfish
      @sailormoonfish 10 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Skip Aj a better camera is not revolutionary, new sensors and faster chip didn't help to the performance (the iPhone 5s is faster in actual performance), Apple pay is good but Google wallet is the same, better and bigger screen (that other phones already have), all new design (but the iPhone 5s looks better) and ios 8 (basically ios 7 with keyboards and widgets). The iPhone 6 is not an innovation just because is a little bit better, the note edge is not an innovation either but at least is something new and different

    • @bryanmills916
      @bryanmills916 10 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      Alejandro Gllrd so true, but that is the difference people who use iPhones gonna feel everything is better cause apple doesn't come out with alot new features and devices like android. Everything apple think that is new android already did it tho

They actually care about their users and the health of us. I don't see this in any other company. When they say galaxy family they really mean it.

    At the start of the review i imagined, ok we have moved the shorcuts and a cleaner screen...
    you opened a folder, cool I can organize things a lot better...
    then you swiped to the recent apps, i was like, oh wow, it feels kind like windows (xp) minimized windows... that can really be helpful, maybe like for multitasking...
    and then you showed some apps and DAMN I WANT THAT PHONE XD good choice of helpful apps to include in the side. I JUST LOVE IT! XD
    I saw this in the internet years ago but never thought they'd make it this good.
    Update: I got to the last part of the video and kinda makes me sad :(
