09:40 I dont see you standing leg turning which is one of the most essential things in this kick even when traning with a chair. Maybe you turn it but it looks like you dont. 14:35 this is very wrong. When I put it to 25% speed I can clearly see you feet is more like in mae geri position in hitting point. Thats what they do in Gojo ryu but SHotokan version is much much harder. Im so strict about this since I train every day to get my keage foot in the right ankle/position in the hitting point. This is maybe the hardest kick in karate.
Hi, thanks for your comments and congratulation to your own strict training. Believe me I'm turning the standing leg, otherwise I would feel pain in my hips and lower back 😉 Regarding the foot position in Keage I disagree that it looks like in Mae Geri, but I agree, that I can work to improve a better foot rotation. Nobody is perfect.
@@couchkarate6097 Yea I looked it more and thoguht you are turning the leg, you couldnt make that big mistake in your level =) In Keage, I mean in the hitting point you foot should be like a blade (I dont know the word in English). Im pretty sure you know the right positioning and its hard. Keage asks for so much motor skills and especially mobility that we dont use in everyday life. For long I thought this kick is impossible and bad for the knee until I starte to understand the kinesiology behind it. Watching people who do it very well. I started to understand I have to turn my body a bit (I think other wise its impossible since hip joint cant do this motion), I turn my standing leg just a bit like in Kekomi, but just a bit (it helps a bit) and when I got all this in control I trained my ankle mobility ehich is crucial since with out it its impossible to execute. Overall this kick is very hard but when you master it most of people's mobility has improved a lot. I was desperate for this kick, I cant never do it but I stick to it and still train it every day since I dont get the height I want yet, at least when I dont it slow, with speed its of course easier to throw your leg higher. I hope I can master this kick effortlesly to about my own ching/face level, then it all good. And once you got it I think it stays with you for ever. Its all bout brain and when they got the idea and you train it every now and then it stays. All the best for your karate journey and thanks for answering.
gut kicks
Yoko Geri ist mein Lieblings Kick seit Jahrzehnten. Das Video gibt mir noch ein paar richtig gute Übungen um ihn noch zu verfeinern! Top! 🙏
... und den Yoko auch anderen zu vermitteln.

Nice video Sensei. In your opinion with the keage kick should the foot be parallel to the floor or is that irrelevant? Thanks, oss
Thank you for your question. With Keage, foot should be parallel to the floor. Because you hit with the outer/lateral edge of your foot.
@@couchkarate6097 Thanks for the advice.. Surprisingly there are hardly any videos that help with these important nuances. Oss
