@@MortandHarley Completely agree. I first experienced Billy in videos of this period and was immediately hooked. His talent was so obvious and his sunny disposition was always front and center. The more I knew about him and from whence he'd come, the more I admired his ability to succeed and, seemingly, without resentment of what he'd experienced. He's in heady times right now and I hope he can stay centered so we can enjoy his marvelous music for many years to come.
Had the great pleasure of seeing this duo multiple times. They camped in a Chrysler minivan right next to my fifth wheel one time at a bluegrass festival in Lowell Michigan. I really loved those days. Where did I first hear Billy? At that same festival years before with his dad Terry Barber. I remember turning to my wife one day and said, this kid is going places. boy that was an understatement.

Absolutely incredible, got to see him twice last year. Seems he's still improving which is insane because he's incredible here as well. Our generations doc, Tony or Norman. And a stunning voice to boot! Thank you for sharing this gem.

I love how billy has that just got out of prison look.....the prison of a bad life....what gives him the ability to be able to sing the blues .....and the fact that the good times were ahead...a lucky survivor of a shitty start to life....show that life is what u make of it .. and if beaitiful soulful music is the byproduct....lucky for us....keep on plucking billy.... boywonder

You need to listen to Tony Rice. He died a few years ago. This young man is phenomenal, but Tony Rice could have taught him a few things.
