I can speak Chinese when I was just 1. The only reason my mom put me in Chinese school for 5 years now is because she wants me to know how to read the words

One recurring issue I've found is that when you end a message with 哈 the translation will *always* render it as "Kazakhstan"
Another great feature is to set your phone to chinese language mode, and if someone sends you a voice message, you can long press, and select 转文字 and it will give you the Chinese characters.

I used this with a friend for years, when we meet up in person it is just Google Translate though. 😅 Thankfully he's learning Dutch quite well now, but it's still just mostly Google Translate between us.

To be honest it feels lazy to use that feature. I often send messages to Pleco's clip reader, which allows you to translate the whole sentence or look up individual words.
