This reminds me of the Formalist Vs Substantivist debate I read in Economic Anthropology course where the concept of "Rational" or "Economic man" presupposed by the West on preindustrial societies was challenged by the Substantivists (Karl Polanyi as pioneer) where they argued that the economic decisions of an individual in a preindustrial society are intertwined with cultural, religious and other spheres of their lives. Basically Formalists supported classical economics and tried to apply that logic in understanding those remote cultures while Substantivists would not separate economic activity from social, cultural and religious realm, as if the decision-making is embedded in the social system. As an example we can talk about a Gift Economy which is radically different from the form of economy which we are so desperately trying to normalise. Thank you for bringing this up I think you can make further videos on this topic. Also thank you for making these concepts accessible to us. God bless you!
Thank you. Yes, Pierre Boudreaux has some amazing insights on symbolic Capital. Similarly early Marx and Engels also talk about nature, the land, and its impact on the mode of production.
Thank you so much for the information. In fact, I am interested in the post colonial studies and you are giving very important clues for the issues that I need to be clarified in my mind. That Allah blesses you professor
Thank you. To be honest, I do not have any sophisticated understanding of these concepts. But if I do develop some deeper thoughts on it I will record a video.
@@masoodraja Thanks a lot Sir. I will definitely watch those videos. Please make another video on Dr. Najibullah, Anahita Ratebzad and role of USSR and USA in Afghanistan.
