In case people don't know why many of these NPC's were left in the game, if you picked up the quests before the cataclysm, many of them were still completable.

Here is a good one. Leo Sarn. If you go to the Silverpine forest (as an alliance) and go close to the graymane wall, you will find a forsaken vendor named Leo Sarn behind some mountains, an enchantment supplies vendor. While he technically has a use, as he can sell Enchantment supplies, is he sadly useless... Why? Because, he stands too close to the graymane wall. Any horde that tries to approach, will be sent into a phased version, where he don't exist. (Atleast I THINK so, I have tried multiple times with horde characters to reach him, but he always phases out, maybe depends if you have done the questchain ornot) The point is, that he is probably one of my favorite "useless" NPCs in the game, because he technically does have a use, but he can't use it because of phasing. xD
"So, why can't I see this vendor? Answer: You have to turn in the quest Empire of Dirt, just inside of Hillsbrad Foothills, and then return to where he is, and he ends up being there. The position is correct, but he remains phased until you return." - per Angsta on Wowhead
Oh yeah, Crendor mentioned him in his pointless top ten useless npcs. I remember him saying something about the npc setting up shop in one of the busiest areas. Haha

One could argue that call the fucked up shot the forsaken do are in service to the cause. It's not different than any other faction really with some obvious exceptions.
With every character doing the same quests over and over again, I really miss these class specific quests now. I've been leveling a couple new characters on a new realm lately, and I get so bored with the quests since it is just the same thing over and over again.
That would be cool, are maybe "Old Spells that NPCs can still use". Like there are a couple of Paladins outside the castle of Stormwind, that still buff themselves with the old blessings.

Emberstrife wasn't a part of Ony attune for alliance. What you're referring to there with the item and the MC is the Seal of Ascension quest for the UBRS key. Source: On my hunter, spent longer than I'd like to admit planning and trying to execute a kiting route to get him to below 30% to try to solo the quest.
I am loving the production quality on these. The mini-machinima type stuff really makes this feel like a video to watch, rather than a podcast style video like in Hirumaredx's older videos.

One npc u forgot is Thule Ravenclaw.He was pretty much the "end boss" of classic Silverpine Forest.After the cata revamp of Silverpine he can still be found but as a simple rare spawn
Comar Villardo brings up memories when I played my forsaken warlock back in TBC. I remeber that the journey through Silverpine and Arathi was so long and dangerous for my low level warlock. I think I was level 20 something. I still remeber when I took his heart for the ritual, so many years ago. Awesome questline. I wish warlocks still had these unique quests.
SAAAAME! Except my warlock's run to kill Comar saw me getting ganked by a draenei paladin and then camped. As an alchemist, I had Lesser Potions of Invisibility, so I just rezzed behind a nearby tree, drank a potion, ran away... And then reappeared next to a raptor that ate my face off. Good times. ^^
You made the finding of the bauble sound easy. In early wow it was very difficult to spot that thing, you would literally have to swin up and down every area moving your mouse around hoping it went over something. They eventually made it bigger and easier to find.
Egan in Eastern Plaguelands was made irrelevant by Cata. He used to send you into Stratholme to bust ghosts, but now just stands there. You can’t even interact with him anymore. Fun fact, if you had the Spook Blaster (the quest item he gives you to bust ghosts) equipped when you turned the quest in, you got to keep it. It still sits in the bank of my priest I’ve mained since TBC. It sits next to my Spectrecles from TBC and my Soul Powered Containment Unit (Artifact Power item from Legion) in my bank. I’m a big Ghostbusters fan, so I kind of stockpiled them. lol
I wish class quests like in Legion stuck around. Like it feels like a no brainer just to add some questlines per class every X-Pac but I guess the covenant stuff isn't terrible I'm enjoying the lore of shadowlands so far.
I wish that they'd put the class quests back in!!! I have many fond memories of class quests, especially on my Blood Elf paladin! The quest chain for the mount, and Blood Knight tabard, was awesome! Fortunately, by the time I completed it, I already had most of the mats on my bank alt. It made me feel as if there were some lore to my characters. I also loved the warlock demon summoning quests!

Giving an "evil" quest to a class like Warlocks is fine. If we're going by lore, at least WC3/Vanilla lore. Warlocks are basically social outcasts. Summoning demons and dipping into fel magic is extremely taboo seeing as though our world was invaded by demons. There's a reason the Warlock area in Stormwind is beneath a seedy tavern and the one in Orgrimmar is basically a hole in the ground
Interestingly enough, the Alliance warlock quest chain had you retrieve a piece from a tree where two lovers died together, which has enough psychic sensitivity to entice a succubus to investigate it. So, as is a theme for a lot of this game, the Horde commit the evil act compared to the Alliance's justified act.
I remember so many Horde warlocks doing the Orc version of the quest simply so they didn't have to kill the two Alliance NPC's. (Plus the Orc version gave a bit more xp to boot)
A possible idea for a video would be duplicate NPCs. I can only think of a few off the top of my head but I am sure there are more. Examples are Nat Pagel from duskwallow and also in the Mists zone or Garrosh from BC and WotLK

They need more blatantly evil quests in wow, particularly for Warlocks since quite literally that's what Warlocks are, even the ones on our side are just evil with the whole stealing of souls and stealing of life and all. so makes sense for a player who rolls Warlock, be forced to do quests which are "evil" by killing innocent characters with pure souls.
another one for ya: Grimbooze Thunderbrew, a dwarf in Westfall - had a (repeatable?) quest called Sweet Amber where u had to bring him Holy Spring Water. I think you just got experience from him? and there's Henze Faulk, another dwarf, this time in Elwynn Forest, who was part of a lvl 10 paladin quest...he's still there, just unconscious. Actually, u could make a whole part 2 JUST off of class quest NPCs since the lot of em are still in-game. Those NPCs u had to heal as priest? Still there...collecting dust :(
The seaform quest was one of the fun quests in the game I miss, wasn't a bad quest at all! It just took some brain power, something direly lacking in current quests.
The evil warlock class quest surprised me. Even though its not really surprising considering warlock lore. To this day i still keep learning new tales and trivia about Vanilla i never knew. I wish i started WoW back then. But since i began in Cata ( and never saw the old world ) videos like this will always entertain :D Looking forward to more stories Hiru ^^
Some of you say these quests are bad, but I liked them. I liked working hard for my unique rewards. I liked traveling and going to distant places and doing hard stuff to get a new druid form or special mount or totem. What do you do now? Just press a button and instantly get all your shit with zero effort put in. And that's one of the (many) things that fucked this game up: instant gratification for the crybabies without any effort put in.
Also you should totally make a video on April 1st which is called "Top 10 Gunther Arcanus's" and have every single entry be Gunther Arcanus except Number 1 which is actually "Arther Guncanus"
"Blizzard forgot to delete this NPC." aaaaarrrrgh no they didn't Programming wise, deleting information is so much more risky than just turning off the flags associated with their content being available, i. e. getting the quest in the first place. While you can't get the quests anymore, I'm fairly certain you would still be able to continue/turn in the quest chains if you somehow still had them (if Blizz hadn't wiped quest logs a few times. Though people still share those dummied out weird quests now and then? Not sure, haven't seen one in a while.) Point is, removing the NPCs could easily mess up pathing, faction rewards, the questing UI, or any other number of things based on Blizz's famous Spaghetti Code. (Like how we lost Hunter's Control Pet back in the day.) Blizz didn't forget to remove any of these seemingly useless dudes. They just turned off all the switches and kept everything else ship-shape.
The "important member of the scourge" that Gunther had you kill was practically right next to him in the lake. If he really opposed the scourge as much as he said he did, why did he never bother killing her himself? The player has more reason to suspect *him* of being a Scourge agent than he does to suspect us.
years ago people were posting on the forums about one or another NPC that annoys them or whatever reason and another forum poster Alliance or Horde would say “consider it done” then post a snaphot of that NPC’s corpse. Such as poor Myra Tyrngard a food seller in IF or a mushroom seller in Org. It was funny to watch for a while.
i liked the fact that there were shamans out there that couldnt complete the right of passage and could heal withot a water totem it ment if you wernt serious about the character you would juzt make a new one and move on made my shamana feel special, also helping younger shamans when i could was fun as, usualy bonded over it or started a war
One other Top 10 list idea, that I can think of is: Top 10 Class/Race Combos that NPC can be, but players can't. Like there is a Pandaran deathknight in the horde garrison, a Draenei rogue in the alliance one and there are two Nightelf Paladins in the Paladin Order Hall and so on.
the Mithril Order.. they were a faction of Armorsmiths in Vanilla.. they were in STV and you would have to turn in a lot of Mithril to them.. but you got some cool recipes.. or basically any faction involving professions
The thing with Hayven is that he had this gift where he would make anything sound so damn interesting without trying to do so. And that his videos were SO GOOD that he did not need to add color filters and glowy effects to blow your mind... he just seemed to know what angles and screens to use. His videos had so much class and style. You watch one of his videos and you get sucked in right away. In a way, he was so unique that he can't be replicated. Anyway, i could be talking all day about him, but i don't want you to think i am trying to make Hiru seem less. I did love this video very much. But he is completely diferent (style wise) and that is fine IMO. They both great! And while i will always love Hayven's videos and hold him as the top wow content creator, there is absolutely nothin wrong with Hirumaredx... Except maybe his love for pet battles and horde bias... BUT NOTHING ELSE!
emberstrife wasnt involved in alliance onyxia attunement. You kill some random dragons in blasted lands, fly around asking for help from lakeshire, jailbreak in brd, reveal onyxia, get the necklace from winterspring, then fill it with blood from ubrs boss. From my initial research it looks like he was for creating the ubrs key.
The horde side used to take 3 quests from Emberstrife to complete their Onyxia attunement. Yes he also did the UBRS key quest which is the breathing of fire on the key thing.
Ya know, I never did many of the quests in the Undead areas during Vanilla-Wrath but I did stumble across Gunther on an alt. I wondered what role he would play later on, and if we would ever see more of him in quests down the line. Not strongly enough to quit faffing about on an alt and finish leveling my damn Warrior (do I need to grab the whip again?), but now that you mention him I find it strange that absolutely nothing was ever done with him outside of that quest. Even Milly Osworth, a nobody who just hangs around Northshire Abbey telling newly minted adventurers that they should go gather some grapes, somehow managed to make the transition to head fence at the Smuggling Post in Draenor as an official member of the Alliance army. Gunther, a powerful necromancer specially tabbed by Forsaken high command to be sought out and brought into the fold, has no relevance to any events? And now that I think about it, what happened to him after the Siege of Lordaeron?
i still have the orb that was used to control emberstrife's mind. Back in the day you were able to kite emberstrife anywhere ... my mates and me use to drag it to Xroads... hunter would tag him with a rank 1 spell and we would have a mage there to sheep it to get it back to full health..if needed. upon arrival you could use the orb control his mind and kill all the lowbies at the quest hub. it was very cool!~ fingers crossed classic will entertain this vanilla qerk.
I honestly think the perfect WoW expansion at this point wouldn;t even need to add in new zones or increase the level cap or anything, it would just need to comb through Azeroth and actually give the what feels like hundreds of useless NPC's an actual purpose. That would right away add more content to the game than most expansions have.
I wish they did stuff like that for BFA so we could actually fight a faction war all over Azeroth instead of reading about it from the mission table. They are making a few old NPCs useful with secret puzzles and whatnot to get mounts and pets. It would be nice to see more quests back in the old zones in a post cata world. With Cata classic coming out, they might be planning to revisit old zones soon. Maybe late into the next expansion or the one after it. Maybe we will get a new time phase with Zidormi at the least.

Gunther is my favourite too. He's the one who got me to understand who the forsaken really were *in game*. Bear in mind that I played WoW without knowing any Warcraft lore.
There was or is an NPC in Ferales by the Twin Colossus peaks. When you talked to them they teleported you to the top and gave you a parachute. Used to go base jumping all the time. Not sure what that NPC does now or if they're in game anymore.

Some of you say these quests are bad, but I liked them. I liked working hard for my unique rewards. I liked traveling and going to distant places and doing hard stuff to get a new druid form or special mount or totem. What do you do now? Just press a button and instantly get all your shit with zero effort put in. And that's one of the (many) things that fucked this game up: instant gratification for the crybabies without any effort put in.
Also you should totally make a video on April 1st which is called "Top 10 Gunther Arcanus's" and have every single entry be Gunther Arcanus except Number 1 which is actually "Arther Guncanus"

Programming wise, deleting information is so much more risky than just turning off the flags associated with their content being available, i. e. getting the quest in the first place. While you can't get the quests anymore, I'm fairly certain you would still be able to continue/turn in the quest chains if you somehow still had them (if Blizz hadn't wiped quest logs a few times. Though people still share those dummied out weird quests now and then? Not sure, haven't seen one in a while.)
Point is, removing the NPCs could easily mess up pathing, faction rewards, the questing UI, or any other number of things based on Blizz's famous Spaghetti Code. (Like how we lost Hunter's Control Pet back in the day.)
Blizz didn't forget to remove any of these seemingly useless dudes. They just turned off all the switches and kept everything else ship-shape.
You paint all these NPC's as really sad to not have quests/purposes any more. Honestly, if I did not need to deal with adventurers, I'd be excited.
The "important member of the scourge" that Gunther had you kill was practically right next to him in the lake. If he really opposed the scourge as much as he said he did, why did he never bother killing her himself? The player has more reason to suspect *him* of being a Scourge agent than he does to suspect us.

There are so many more NPCs who got made "irrelevant" by Cataclysm. For example: *Literally every NPC at Sun Rock Retreat.*

years ago people were posting on the forums about one or another NPC that annoys them or whatever reason and another forum poster Alliance or Horde would say “consider it done” then post a snaphot of that NPC’s corpse.
Such as poor Myra Tyrngard a food seller in IF or a mushroom seller in Org. It was funny to watch for a while.
Before I watch the video I bet class npcs are going to be number one

i liked the fact that there were shamans out there that couldnt complete the right of passage and could heal withot a water totem it ment if you wernt serious about the character you would juzt make a new one and move on made my shamana feel special, also helping younger shamans when i could was fun as, usualy bonded over it or started a war
One other Top 10 list idea, that I can think of is:
Top 10 Class/Race Combos that NPC can be, but players can't.
Like there is a Pandaran deathknight in the horde garrison, a Draenei rogue in the alliance one and there are two Nightelf Paladins in the Paladin Order Hall and so on.

the Mithril Order.. they were a faction of Armorsmiths in Vanilla.. they were in STV and you would have to turn in a lot of Mithril to them.. but you got some cool recipes.. or basically any faction involving professions
Good content. Love the visuals. Not quite on par with Hayven Games (RIP Hayven) but getting closer though. A little more and you will be there.
The thing with Hayven is that he had this gift where he would make anything sound so damn interesting without trying to do so. And that his videos were SO GOOD that he did not need to add color filters and glowy effects to blow your mind... he just seemed to know what angles and screens to use. His videos had so much class and style. You watch one of his videos and you get sucked in right away. In a way, he was so unique that he can't be replicated.
Anyway, i could be talking all day about him, but i don't want you to think i am trying to make Hiru seem less. I did love this video very much. But he is completely diferent (style wise) and that is fine IMO. They both great! And while i will always love Hayven's videos and hold him as the top wow content creator, there is absolutely nothin wrong with Hirumaredx... Except maybe his love for pet battles and horde bias... BUT NOTHING ELSE!
If you mixed him and Nobbel, they'd be Hayven. That's my E=MC2 equation.

About the warlock trainer, there's a goblin in their starter zone after the volcano that sells you some totems if you're a shaman
emberstrife wasnt involved in alliance onyxia attunement. You kill some random dragons in blasted lands, fly around asking for help from lakeshire, jailbreak in brd, reveal onyxia, get the necklace from winterspring, then fill it with blood from ubrs boss. From my initial research it looks like he was for creating the ubrs key.

6:31 Embestrife has nothing to do with the Onyxia attunement quest. The item that you were referring to is the seal of ascension and the key to UBRS
The horde side used to take 3 quests from Emberstrife to complete their Onyxia attunement.
Yes he also did the UBRS key quest which is the breathing of fire on the key thing.

Ya know, I never did many of the quests in the Undead areas during Vanilla-Wrath but I did stumble across Gunther on an alt. I wondered what role he would play later on, and if we would ever see more of him in quests down the line. Not strongly enough to quit faffing about on an alt and finish leveling my damn Warrior (do I need to grab the whip again?), but now that you mention him I find it strange that absolutely nothing was ever done with him outside of that quest.
Even Milly Osworth, a nobody who just hangs around Northshire Abbey telling newly minted adventurers that they should go gather some grapes, somehow managed to make the transition to head fence at the Smuggling Post in Draenor as an official member of the Alliance army. Gunther, a powerful necromancer specially tabbed by Forsaken high command to be sought out and brought into the fold, has no relevance to any events? And now that I think about it, what happened to him after the Siege of Lordaeron?

Back in the day you were able to kite emberstrife anywhere ... my mates and me use to drag it to Xroads... hunter would tag him with a rank 1 spell and we would have a mage there to sheep it to get it back to full health..if needed. upon arrival you could use the orb control his mind and kill all the lowbies at the quest hub. it was very cool!~ fingers crossed classic will entertain this vanilla qerk.

TH-cam recommended this video to me 4 years later so that I could remind everyone that Shay Leafrunner used to exist.
I honestly think the perfect WoW expansion at this point wouldn;t even need to add in new zones or increase the level cap or anything, it would just need to comb through Azeroth and actually give the what feels like hundreds of useless NPC's an actual purpose. That would right away add more content to the game than most expansions have.
I wish they did stuff like that for BFA so we could actually fight a faction war all over Azeroth instead of reading about it from the mission table.
They are making a few old NPCs useful with secret puzzles and whatnot to get mounts and pets. It would be nice to see more quests back in the old zones in a post cata world.
With Cata classic coming out, they might be planning to revisit old zones soon. Maybe late into the next expansion or the one after it. Maybe we will get a new time phase with Zidormi at the least.

He furthermore explains that he hasn't learned any other professions and has troubles finding a new job. "The Horde isn't employing someone who has no experience in any other field at my age. I'm not going to work in the mines either, that's Goblin work."
Firegaze says his plan was trying to get premature pension if possible, and until that point he just had to live off his life savings.
Emberstrife, for the Alliance, was used to get the Seal of Ascension (The UBRS Key) not the Onyxia quest.
Gunther is my favourite too. He's the one who got me to understand who the forsaken really were *in game*. Bear in mind that I played WoW without knowing any Warcraft lore.

There was or is an NPC in Ferales by the Twin Colossus peaks. When you talked to them they teleported you to the top and gave you a parachute. Used to go base jumping all the time. Not sure what that NPC does now or if they're in game anymore.
