- I Build a Cargo Bike from an Old MTB and a Child Bikes Frontweehl and Steering Tube and some Steel Tubes from Scrap, The Rims and Tires are New, and all Komponents! I startet building, 02.12.2019 and finished the Projekt 31.12.2019 spend Even Time on ist After Work and at the Weekend!

At least in Finland the maximum cargo for bicycles is 100kg. I think the total mass of a bicycle used to be 250kg, but EU changed things. Depending on legislation it is worth i the extra effort to try to minimize the mass of the bike so that way you can get more cargo and still be under the legal limit.
I doubt police will pull you over if you aren't hauling something ridiculous on your cargo bike, but things are different if you get into an accident. Then the insurance company will try to find every way out of paying you.
This is What You think, in Germany there is no regulätion about Building a Cargo bike, Inlay the wide of 80cm over the wide of 80 cm you Must usw the road only

You really need to look at disk brakes and even hydraulic brakes. With that weight you'll burn though those rubber pads like nobody's business - especially if you go electric. This is 10 years of ebike experience talking...
That said - nice build and I am inspired.

Thanks, for that, yes Disc Brake are more Powerfull, but i Drive now 450 km with e Power and the Hydraulic Rim Brake Takes the First Pads, i think when i Build anorher one there will be Disc brakes 💪🏻😎

CHRISTIAN HUET vielen Dank! Die Hydraulische Bremse ist eine Magura HS11 die ich von EBay ersteigert habe, HS11 ist die günstigste Variante, es gibt noch die HS22 und HS33 von Magura, einfach mal in eBay eingeben oder bei Amazon, da hab ich sie auch schon neu gesehen!

There was No Master Plan i construct it in my Head only with Brainstorming and looking other Cargo Bikes 🤷♂️
Nice build!! I started a project much like this, only hard thing I encounter now is welding the 1mm frame tubes to my 2mm carbon steel steering pipe... Only doing test welds now, but I seem to burn the (CrMo?) bike tubing, and when I don't burn them, it won't stick... Do you have any welding tips for this connection?? (p.s. I assume the bottom bracket is normal steel, only tubing is higher grade thin steel??)

So what material do you build from? Did you build it from steel?? Did you get some lightweight beams or not? It looks like heavy stuff!
Yes ist is Steel, the Bike weight 99,2 lb
Suggestion: If you make it a 1 x 10/11 (basically a 1 x) drivetrain, it would
a) make the bike slightly lighter
b) as any cargo bike is about carrying luggage than speed, lower gearing at the rear end will help with hauling load over uphills ...
c) plus any 1x drivetrain is so cool 😎 nowadays 👍

I could never understand why builders make the steering arm stick out so far to clear the wheel when turned where as yours goes over the wheel. I noticed the long steering arm was bouncing as you rode it, can you support it in some way?

And there is an oil Filling Set from Magura, you Push out the Air with an Injektion from the Brake Pad holder upper to the Hand Piston

Tolles Cargo ist es geworden wobei mir hier im Sauerland der E Antrieb fehlen würde.

sehr gut gelungenes Projekt. Warum hast Du nicht direkt Scheibenbremsen verbaut? Vorallem bei Lastenrad wäre es sinvoller gewesen.
Achim Gazelle Man(n) nimmt was man hat, da ich nicht wusste wo die Reise hingeht, das Projekt hätte ja auch ne Banane werden können, dann wäre es im Alteisen gelandet und ich hätte dann für teures Geld Scheiben Bremse hier liegen gehabt, ich kann dich aber beruhigen 220kg Gesamtgewicht, verzögert die HS11 so stark das du selbst auf dem Lastenrad über den Lenker gehst so wie beim MTB oder Tourenrad
@@schrauberigne ist das Stahl oder Alurahmen? Bin kein Schweißexperte aber die Schweißnahte sehen sehr gut aus, Bravo!
Was auch gut ist, dass Du 3 Fach Kurbel ausgewählt hast. Bei den Lastenrad Hersteller ist das Fehlanzeige, warum auch immmer.

cooles projekt .. ich hab noch keinen das in aluminium umsetzen sehen - denkst alu gibt das nicht her wegen der steifheit ?
Dankeschön... also das es aus Stahl gebaut ist, ist der Schuldigkeit getan, das zu diesem Zeitpunkt meine WIG Fertigkeiten noch nicht so gut waren wie sie es aktuell sind, ein Aluminiumfahrrad liegt schon seit geraumer Zeit hier, aber irgendwie kann ich mich nicht dazu durchringen, damit anzufangen! Mal sehen vielleicht kommt mal der richtige Zeitpunkt! Stabil wird das auch mit Aluminium, es gibt ja Kastenräder aus Aluminium zu kaufen!

Виталий Пак The Pipe upside is 42x2mm the Main Frame is 60x40x3mm the biggest Load allover was 240kg, the bike weight is 56kg with e Drive and accu my weight is 120kg so the load inside was about 64 kg

@@luftbildernordeifel300 Tatsache, bin gerade erst bei 10:30 angekommen. Cooles Projekt, aber 45kg ist natürlich gewaltig. Haste n Nabenmotor nachgerüstet?
@@user-qu2pv2wp3o ja damals Nabenmotor nachgerüstet, hab das Rad aber nicht mehr, hab es getauscht gegen ein E MTB aber mittlerweile hab ich ein Cube Cargobike das wiegt aber Serie auch 55kg also war mein Eigenbau garnicht so schlecht von der Gewichtsklasse

Cargo in the back is boring. and Not so cool looking , the most Cargo bikes here are Build like this! The First one was Build in Copenhagen, they named ii Long John,

Alexander Clauss Die Holländische Bakfiets wiegen auch ab 41kg bis 60kg je nach Ausstattung, wenn du fährst merkst du es kaum, hab aber mittlerweile einen E Antrieb, mach das fahren mit 50kg Zuladung etwas angenehmer bergauf

Peter Schmieg Hi also ich hab mir ein System zugelegt, was ohne zusätzlichen Tretlagersensor funktioniert, der Sensor ist in der Freilaufnabe, zudem sind auch keine Bremshebelsensoren nötig, funktioniert wunderbar, zudem hat man nur ein Kabel, und nicht so ein Wirrwarr an Kabeln die zum Controller gehen, ist sehr aufgeräumt am Lenker, mittlerweile weiß ich garnicht mehr wie ich vorher ohne Unterstützung gefahren bin, wenn ich den Berg hoch fahre und die Unterstützung abschalte ist es als wenn ne Windböe von vorne kommt oder als würde jemand am Gepäckträger ziehen 😅
Der Junge man ist sehr Kompetent, hab mehrfach mit ihm Telefoniert, und per Mail geschrieben, alles super, Akku hab ich mir diesen hier geholt...

Poor engineering, you could have built it a lot stronger and lighter than this. The location of your tubes creates unnecessary strength in areas where it is not needed and weakness in areas which do.
