For the first clip maybe you can rotate the video -90 degrees so she is upright and then apply the face refinement tool.

If you're using a CP on set do you also use a VND? if so, which one gets mounted first? or how do you work with both?

Personally I’d use a rear VND and a front mounted CP. I plan to upgrade to the BMCC6K FF and use the Mofage rear VND system. Thanks!

It was affecting her teeth in the first clip, too. Rotating the clip before analysis might work better. I appreciate your content because I need to grade black skin pretty frequently. And as a white person, I am probably ignorant of some cultural specifics regarding how black skin should look ascetically. For instance, is shiny skin always considered a bad thing for black people? Because I personally sometimes like the highlights on the skin because it gives dimensionality to the face. But culturally, am I way off here?

Hi I appreciate the look, suggestion and question. Shine isn’t a bad thing per se but like everything else in cinematography, if something is so noticeable that it distracts you then it’s too much IMO.. I would say the same about shine.. thanks 🙏🏿🙌🏿

If you had open the scale a little more before Analyzing her face, you would have gotten it over her entire face.
