I'm so glad that the current, but soon to retire, British made Metro Cammell M train still holds the same motor sound as it did over 40 years ago. I've had the privilege to travel on the old M train in the mid 90s as a little boy and for the last time as a teenager in 2001 from Quarry Bay to Kowloon Bay. Even with the modernized look, I'm glad the motor sound is still there. That sound is music to me as I remembered it over 30 years ago. Hope to ride it for the last time before its final retirement. Hopefully, I'll have the chance to since I don't live in Hong Kong, but in the United States. Thank you for the information on each train!
Actually, up unti 1995, they used resistive control so they used to sound different. During the refurbishment in the mid to late 1990s they retrofitted chopper control.
Tung Chung Line and Airport Express trains are my favourite! They sound so powerful imo and had the speed to match as they zipped under the West Kowloon Highway! I may not understand the thrill of hearing a car revving, but I do get the same thrill from the TC line, haha
thanks eheee there were 3 final drafts I made because I had to keep correcting stuff, and every time I ran the editor to stick all this together it took 2 hours yay :3
ncie vid, very detailed. M , MLR and A train are my favorite. San Fran BART legacy fleet A cars (ADtranz IGBT VVVF) (sadly have just retied) also have similar sound of the A train , with higher pitch at starting and changing frequency.
MTR C-Train remains me a Singapore Old Fujitec Elevator (Refurbished in 90s) and PE attire MTR M-Train remains me as Singapore Old Fujitec Elevator (Original from 1970s) and School Uniform
Both must point out IKK and TML C never design speed as 160 km/h!.It same as LAR as 140 km/h Also Light Rail is wrong Phase 1/2 The traction motor name are AEG ABS 3322.2 Tandem Drive/Shaft Drive is driving gear. not motor name
@@LTrains999 Wiki is not the most trustworthy source as anyone could simply modified it. Also in Manufacture website,it never mention the train can go up to 160km/h... it must not assume the maximum design speed by the speed odometer
yoooooo we got 1k views
Congrats!

hell yeah that's what I'm talking about! I feel like they are underrated in the mtr community with their gto vvvf and sleek design
@@LTrains999tcl and tml are my favourite ngl
I like how you adjusted the filming location based on where the motor cars were
it wasn't my idea though, the guy who I credited in the description did it first
wow this whole video is very impressive :O
very informative too
can't imagine what it's like to edit a 24 minute video
thanks eheee

C851E (CCL) wears PE attire every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday
The DLR M-trains will be the only M-trains left once the urban fleet retires.
we have until at least 2027 to enjoy the url m trains and I'm not missing out on any opportunity to do so
The mlr motor sounds like class 317, class 315, class 319, class 321, class 507, class 508, and class 455

How do you tell the diff between tue different stocks of the M Train?

Stupid question, MLR is newer than m train but why MLR retire first?
6:48 sounds like the CT251 TEL Singapore
My favourite is S-train bc of it’s optONIX igbtvvvf
I love the C train motor lol
but you can barely hear it in the video xd
thank you!
M-train I Stock only runs on ISL iirc
yeah but sometimes they get transferred to other lines as well. i think a255/126 ran on the twl before it crashed at lai king.
@@LTrains999 that’s the only non isl unit but it crashed sooooo
@@contrazenca lmao yeah that's getting changed for the 2024 update if I make one
👍👍👍
Stupid question, but why were the Phase 2 lrvs retired before the Phase 1 ones?
the phase 1 lrvs were refurbished, but the phase 2 lrvs weren't, so they were retired before the phase 1s.
Honestly this is a great question. I'm wondering about this too, cause they initially said they will refurbish Phase 2
probably a similar reason to the one for the decision to replace the c751b units in sg instead of continuing to maintain them
S train singing

Also
Light Rail is wrong
Phase 1/2
The traction motor name are AEG ABS 3322.2
Tandem Drive/Shaft Drive is driving gear. not motor name
I hope I remember this comment when I make the 2024 version, thanks for the information.
ok so may I ask how you know the sp1900 top speed is 140 kph and not 160? because according to wiki it's 160

@@AAA839 ok yeah I see your point.
@@AAA839I thought it was mentioned by MTR themselves that they could reach 160?
