T set motor are so quiet inside the carriage I just don’t know how you got the pure sound of it. I also luv the recording of the Waratah motor very clean the loudest motor commonly inside a carriage is probably the A and B sets M sets I gotta say got the coolest electric sound especially chopper sets.
I have also compared three trains of Sydney with three trains of Singapore MRT due to similar sounding motors. Goninan T-set/C-set and Comeng V-set (V28-V51) = Kawasaki C151 (North South and East West lines) [using Mitsubishi Electric GTO-4-quadrant chopper] EDI M-set = Alstom Metropolis C751A (North East line) [using Alstom ONIX 1500 IGBT-VVVF] Alstom Metropolis (Sydney Metro) = Alstom Metropolis C751C (North East line) [using Alstom OPTONIX IGBT-VVVF]
Great video @Sydney Transport Films. Small query - A Set Waratah went over a level crossing at 12:43. Where was that filmed? Can't pinpoint the location but maybe along the Richmond Line after Blacktown?
12:15 wait where is this underground station … I'm so disappointed in myself for not recognising it, and maybe the new CBD Metro stations are reorganising my brain
If you want you could also do idling sounds on all the trains, and maybe even on the mariyung d sets :) Also you must be quite lucky to get an old dpa on the tangara at 6:08 :))
To be honest I like Tangaras the most, then Milennium, and 3rd is Oscar, last place is Waratah B set because it didn’t really upgrade much in 6-7 years.
OTOH Waratah-B is just refining on perfection. That acceleration is wicked, and worth the upgrade to my beloved Tangara. (Tangara is the only one I'll buy models to put on my shelf).
They’d be above. On the C Sets the electrical equipment is located in the rear of the motor car above the vestibule hence why I got a very clear recording of the motors
@CTR218 oh yeah thats right just forgot about that all trains have either a cabinet behind the drivers cab with all electrical systems in there or hidden above in the roof
10:54 surely you mean m/s^2 not m/s^1 ? (I'd love to know the power draw in kilowatts, but if you don't have it, it's fine … this video is exceptional already)
So, dumb question but is the traction motor sound the ascending sound as the train speeds up or the constant quieter one? I assume it's the ascending one but I might be wrong lol
why do they outsource Japanese companies like Mitsubishi and Hitachi, and a French company Alstom to build the traction motors for the trains, can't the manufacturers in Australia build the traction motors?
Like anything complex, a bunch of things come from a bunch of places, and it's so unusual to have a large object "made" entirely in one country. And as the other comment said, even when a part comes from a particular country, it's just the company that's based there, and even they take pieces from around the place. The level of specialisation in everything these days is incredible. Modern designs take the best options from all around the world, then integrate them. The integration is more work than ever before and is probably more important than the parts sourcing now.
The V set whistle 🥹
I love it so much as well
The newer ones ie probably later than 1980's. The older ones were more primitive.
Rest In Peace, Sydney V-Set... you absolute fuckin' legend!!!
As a fellow sydney trains content creator can I just say that this is truly amazing!

The M set interior recording was such a thrash
Like the new video you done today with loads of detail. Hope there more to come.
You picked a pretty good spot to record the Waratah interior recording, those trains absolutely fly between Westmead and Seven Hills
I agree
Trains between Holsworthy and glenfield go flying on quiet services
Really quite unusual choppers: most switch up through the frequencies, but these ones switches down.
Music to my ears at 2:24
GTO-VVVF trains would've knocked all of the IGBT-VVVF trains out of the water in terms of motor sound epicness
Singapore the respective motor sounds are C151 and C751B/Sifang
I have also compared three trains of Sydney with three trains of Singapore MRT due to similar sounding motors.

Medium-distance transport by rail is more popular in Australia than in Europe or the United States. Please come and visit Japan.
Waratahs use the same IGBT as Shonan E233-3000系 - always thought they were boring but nowadays I have a little bit more respect for them.
A sets sound like BR class 385
Oh they are pretty boring
4:47 Ex-G set
15:35 Godly brake sounds
i'll always prefer the chopper since you can actually say the name
unlike *igbtvvvf*
A bit hard to pronounce technical names but chopper is a catchy nickname for the C Sets
Ah yes, my favorite motor, *igbtvvvf.*
The A set sounds like the dutch CAF civity
0:32 is that at faulconbridge?
Great video @Sydney Transport Films. Small query - A Set Waratah went over a level crossing at 12:43. Where was that filmed? Can't pinpoint the location but maybe along the Richmond Line after Blacktown?
Yes on the Richmond line. At the level crossing before Windsor
@@sydneytransportfilms8444 the D Set trainsets sounds the same ad the Dutch NS SNG Sprinter trains
Awesome video!
The a set is my favorite of all trains😊
Mine is the v set and the tangara
Who loves 3:14
the d sets are gonna fly through woonona when they are in service
The V set actually sounds like the tangara
Nice work mate hard-working good job on this video 👍😉👏
12:15 wait where is this underground station … I'm so disappointed in myself for not recognising it, and maybe the new CBD Metro stations are reorganising my brain
This is Epping underground platforms before it was converted for Metro
you recorded the tangara g sets and tangara t sets together
Same thing
I can see those trains on my view of balcony
If you want you could also do idling sounds on all the trains, and maybe even on the mariyung d sets :)
Also you must be quite lucky to get an old dpa on the tangara at 6:08 :))
I've just noticed that the A set Waratah makes a sort of "hiss" sound when starting off and I'm not talking about the brake release.
To be honest I like Tangaras the most, then Milennium, and 3rd is Oscar, last place is Waratah B set because it didn’t really upgrade much in 6-7 years.

Wait, where do they put all the electrical systems in the train? Definitely not under since they are double deckers.
They’d be above. On the C Sets the electrical equipment is located in the rear of the motor car above the vestibule hence why I got a very clear recording of the motors

Glad you asked. It is m/s^2 and they have a power output of about 2,948kW
Waratah train is A41 but text shows A20
Where’s the K-Set?
So, dumb question but is the traction motor sound the ascending sound as the train speeds up or the constant quieter one? I assume it's the ascending one but I might be wrong lol
Yes the sound you hear as the train accelerates is from the traction equipment
idk why but the d set motor sounds like the south korean train motor sounds lol
They are Korean built
yeah I know d sets are Korean built@@fivequackingzephyrs
WHAT GERMAN TRUCK SIM MUSIC
why do they outsource Japanese companies like Mitsubishi and Hitachi, and a French company Alstom to build the traction motors for the trains, can't the manufacturers in Australia build the traction motors?
They're Japanese and French Companies in Australia, the traction motors are designed and manufactured in Australia under those companies.
@BB-xx3dv sad but cheaper anyway

Some DC traction motors were made in Australia decades ago, but not anymore.
Like❤
these traction sounds are so annoying
So why would you listen to them
