Oh my gosh! Thank GOD I found this. I also have a bachelors degree in dietetics. I am an avid fitness enthusiast, and just got this diagnosis. This video is EVERYTHING. How is there no information on this topic?! “Dieting in your 3rd trimester is so cruel”. This is literally my life right now at 31 weeks 💔.
I was diagnosed around week 28 with GD. My doctor referred me to a diabetic nurse educator and a nutritionist. They track my results every 2 weeks. But mentally, its been a rollercoaster. When I first found out, i literally cried. Note that I had 3 pregnancy losses, and never got this far. The GD diagnosis devastated me. Im hanging in there. Praying for a healthy baby 🙏🏼
Me too, I was diagnosed with GD. Pricking my fingers several times a day isn't fun. I'm at the last sprint week 36 now. Hope that both of us get a healthy baby 😊
It is going to be fine .. l also have it but in a matter of weeks you will be having your healthy baby 👶. It’s hard but it won’t last forever. Iam on week 36 now 💪🏽 and this is my first baby ❤
Week 30 here. Just saw a nutritionist yesterday and feeling hopeful I won’t need insulin. Someone on my medical team suggested the dexcom 7. Has anyone used this device (or similar)?
Just been recently diagnosed with GD. I'm just so overwhelmed and confused. And honestly idk why doctors don't explain in detail. Calming a pregnant woman should prioritized. Honestly I'm feeling much better after watching your video. I was blaming myself because I ate cakes and stuff as I was always craving for something sweet and I have been feeling guilty that I caused it. But I'm feeling much better now. Plus I'm glad you mentioned about the fibre intake which really relaxed me as I am really regular with my fibre intake. Thank you for making this video
I just got diagnosed at 28 weeks and I’ve been crying all week trying to figure out meal ideas and being overwhelmed by all the new nutrition info, but this video make me feel SO much better…thank you so much for sharing this, it makes me feel like the last few months of pregnancy won’t have to be as stressful as I thought ❤
I'm 24 weeks now and will likely have the glucose test here in a couple weeks. I wouldn't be surprised if I DON'T get diagnosed. I'm tracking blood glucose now. Baby's in 97th percentile already. How are you doing 4 weeks later? Do you feel a little less stressed?
This video should have more views as it is very encouraging, it's informative and definitely shows us that even when your doing everything right you can still end up with GD
This was so helpful to not feel alone. I do diet and exercise controlled GD and it’s been discouraging. Glad Im not on insulin but nothing worse than getting a bad reading and worrying about baby. Loved your tips !
I'm Type 1 and 16 weeks and so jealous watching all these other pregnant ladies eating huge bowls of oatmeal and fruit or big smoothies every day. Thanks for sharing some realistic eating ❤
Of all the GD videos I watched this past week since my diagnosis, this is by far the best! Our diet is very similar, so that is encouraging. Definitely going to pick up some Kodiak protein brownie mix, very clever. There definitely needs to be more open conversation about how many women get GD and how to deal with it, this video was awesome and I hope it helps others! ❤️❤️❤️
I have it now too. Watching this made me feel better because I thought something was wrong with me. My morning breakfast consists of one slice of multigrain bread with peanut butter (one with only 2 to 3 grams of sugar), 3 to 4 slices of cucumber, and one boiled egg. I may have cream cheese instead of peanut butter. I find it easier to eat the same kind of foods for breakfast. I eat quinoa for both lunch and dinner with any protein. My veggie choices are: broccoli, spinach, cabbage, and cucumber. I may eat toast with avocado and a boiled egg, a veggie of my choice, and another protein for lunch. I have controlled my glucose well. My morning and after lunch snacks might be apple, mandarin, and banana. After dinner, I have been having a few triscuits. I think it is also trial and error figuring out what works. All I think about is that it is just a couple of months of this and I can eat what I want afterwards. So I keep it safe and eat similar things every day. I have had some cheat snacks though. Taking walks after meals and drinking lots of water help so much.
Thank you so much for sharing this. I'm 32 weeks pregnant with our first and just found out I have gestational diabetes as well. It's been a struggle honestly to not start blaming myself. I had no idea it was because of the placenta, so that makes me feel a little better, even though at my last appointment they checked my fluid levels and said that it's great and baby is doing great. So still a little confused why but your video is so encouraging nonetheless, thank you!!
Same story here! 32 weeks and baby weight and fluid is normal..it's so frustrating. Did you have to take insulin? How was your baby after delivery? Any low sugar level?
Thank you! Thank you for sharing this information. I literally texted a friend that I felt ashamed, not 10 minutes before watching. It still feels overwhelming, but your attitude about it is definitely comforting. ❤
Second pregnancy here with gdm and all the things I did to control my blood sugar the first is not working and it’s so depressing. I’m to the point where eating 10 net carbs spikes my blood sugar 30 points. I wear a CGM because I’m honestly curious about what’s going on and it just confirms that I need to go on insulin this time around. I can have a snack before bed and my blood sugar hovers around 100 all night and I have a fasted reading of 104. Oh yeah and I have PCOS. My A1C was 4.2 about three weeks ago so yeah gestational diabetes really needs to be talked about more often. Sometimes it doesn’t matter how hard you try to stay active and diet while pregnant, you’ll still end up needing insulin and that’s ok.
Thank you so much for this video! I failed my first test today by 4 points. 😕 I have been spiraling since I got the results. Thank you for easing my anxiety and helping me to see that if I do have it after my 3 hour test, I’ll be okay.
I really appreciate this video! I just found out I didn't pass my 3 hour glucose test and scheduled my appointment with the specialist. I felt so awful about it but this video is very helpful. Thank you for making this.
Thank you so much for this video! I got diagnosed last week for GD and fehlt very overwhelmed an alone - I searched for Videos just like yours and TH-cam was surprisingly empty on the topic. Thank you for Lifting my Spirits and all the Food inspo 🙌✨
Thank you so much for making this!! I am in a similar situation! I have an 11 month old daughter, and I am currently 24 weeks pregnant with a baby boy and have GD for the second time 😩 they diagnosed me at 21 weeks this time so I’ve been struggling, but you’ve given me new food ideas that I can’t wait to try and that makes it less dreadful!! 💕
we are a nontox household over here with allllll of the things, except ya girl didn’t even think about water! i have 2 under 2 so this is so so so important to me. a cleaner/non toxic lifestyle has really changed our lives for the better!
Thank you so much for your video! I didn’t have GD with my first. And now with my second I feel so blindsided. Your video was super helpful. Thank you for being open about your journey.
Thank you so much for this! I’ve had gestational diabetes with 3 out of my 4 children and I’m now expecting my 5th baby and already failed my 1 hour glucose test 😭 so now I’ll have to take the 3 hour glucose test. 😩 I’ve also been able to manage them all with diet and no insulin. We’ll see how I do with my 5th pregnancy. 🙏🏼 hopefully if I get it again I won’t need insulin and I’ll be able to control it by diet.
Did you develop GD earlier in pregnancy after your first time having it? I had it late in the second trimester with my 2nd and now with my third failed the 1hour test at 12 weeks
Weightlifting pregnant mama here with a 9 month old. At home I know that our water should be relatively clean since we have a water filter but I go to the gym EVERYDAY. So this would help knowing me and baby get CLEAN WATER at all points of the day, gym and home. And as you know, as a mama one less thing to worry about is a huge weight off of our shoulders.
You seriously put out this video on the best day! My first glucose screening was high so I need to go do the 3 hour screening soon to confirm if I do have gestational diabetes 😭. But I’ve been advised to watch my diet in the meantime to be safe. I’m so clueless! With my first son I never dealt with this! Such good advice! Especially about the water 😉 drinking clean water is important to me while my body grows a new baby!
Hi Kilean, I watched some of these videos and wanted to say thank you, since it's been the best so far. A lot of helpful information and also well structured. All best to you!
This is my second time having diagestional diabetes and no one unfortunately helped me with decreasing my morning records! They keep increasing Metformin and insulin. For the first time I understand what’s going on with my body. Thank you so much for this helpful video❤
Growing up I didn’t have access to clean water and now I do and my health has improved incredibly! It just showed me how important clean water truly is!
Clean water is so important to my family especially now I’m that I’m pregnant! A few years ago we went to Jamaica and outside of our resort it really opened our eyes that some people don’t have the privilege or access to clean water. There were signs above public sinks saying do not drink for hand washing only. Citizens were begging for water bottles from travelers. Last year we went to Hawaii and after a hike we got a snow cone from this random food truck. Immediately I was so sick for the whole day and the next day, I know it was the ice. I’m so much more aware of trusting where I am getting my water from. Having a water bottle like this would definitely come in handy.
That water bottle looks awesome! Love the instant energy I get when I have good water. I don’t even realize that’s why I’m tired sometimes until I drink it 😊
It’s important to have clean water in our house hold due to moving to a new area in Az known for having high levels of lead. Did not know this, my kids pediatrician caught it at our 3 year old check up. Now pregnant and worried those levels could affect baby and me scares us. We always use Flittered water when cooking or washing fruits and vegetables. When our refrigerator flitter needs to be switched out it’s crunch time. We do not want to mess around with any chances of harm. My family is constantly drinking tons of water! Which mean when we’re out and I am unsure of the water, having pre-flitter water bottles are a god sent. 😊 this is an amazing give away! Also, thank you again for sharing. I’m sitting in my 3 hours glucose test feeling so many different emotions. This is helping me calm down and realize everything will be fine and there so much help and information available 🤍🙃
Clean water is so important because is a PRIVILEGE and it should not be taken for granted! I hate using water bottles but I have to remind myself that I am lucky to have access to clean water when others do not
Thank you for explaining about how it’s the placenta messing with the insulin/pancreas. I was so confused because I work out and run all the time and eat super clean.
Clean water is important to me because much of the world doesn’t have it and it is so important! I have gone on many missions trips overseas, especially to Ethiopia, and the amount of children and adults that drink harmful water is absolutely horrific. The whole world should work towards providing clean water to those in need and that is why clean water is important to me!
Clean water is so important for my growing baby and family. I have always lived in a house with well water and the contaminants that can get into your water worry me so much when I know I need to be drinking a lot of water to support me in my pregnancy.
Thanks for this video! I am a thin mama with GD. My first pregnancy, I got preeclampsia. My second pregnancy I had no complications and a super fast home birth. My third pregnancy GD. What a surprise! And my range that I was given are 90 or less for fasting and 120 or less for throughout the day. I am 80-90% in range (fasting has been the most challenging number, like you said) but yeah it's hard and often boring. And I am required to test after every meal, snack, and non-water beverage. But I'm about 8 weeks in, so I'm close to my due date and so happy to be at the end of pregnancy!!
I liked the idea behind these videos but... Nutella just seems totally contradictory when you have diabetes I think doing a lowcarb-ish diet with maybe some homemade keto snacks would be a better option all together🤗
Thank you so much for making this!! I just got diagnosed with gestational diabetes (32 weeks tomorrow) and the whole thing feels overwhelming. I feel like I'm almost scared to eat because i don't know what to eat but i know i have to eat.... And then trying to do research it feels so unrealitic because a lot of the "super healthy foods" like cauliflower rice or protein shakes and such i don't like. This video though is filled of stuff I'd actually eat and it seems so much more realistic and manageable so thank you so much!!
I've just been diagnosed at 27 weeks. I'm waiting to get my testing kit but in the meantime, I'm just testing various combinations of food to see how my body responds + making sure I stay active. Luckily I like healthy foods but I've never been a big fan of meat, and now I have to eat a lot more animal products than I'd like. If you don't like 'healthy' food, it's definitely worth exploring different ways you can 'hide' it with other flavours. Herbs and spices will be your best friend :) good luck, it's not easy for sure!
I just came cross with your video, it really motivates me with GD, I’m still struggling with hight fasting sugar levels. Today, i will try out bedtime snack, fingers cross this will helps me as well
You’re the best mama Kilean ❤️ Love your raw, honest and transparent content always. Clean, non-contaminated water means a lot to me, especially since I’m still breastfeeding our little DJ. As you know, AZ has the worst water on tap. Im definitely going to buy one for Emberly! Lastly, I have Hashimoto’s Disease, so clean water is definitely important for a healthy thyroid. Thanks for sharing love
I've been researching what is a good clean water source since I do not like the taste of our fridge water. The fridge option and water bottle looks great! Something worth trying.
I try to be as low-toxin in my house as possible and have been so interesting in the epic water bottles! I love their slogan “drink tap water” I’m so excited you are partnering with them, giving the chance for people like me to try it out! 💕💕
clean water is extremely important to us because my nephew (5 y/o) suffers from an auto immune disorder and needs to drink clean, filtered water. Unfortunately our area doe not have clean water so I’d love to gift him one. It would make us all feel better about him drinking water on the reg. Thanks Kilean - your videos are so fun to watch, I’m down a rabbit hole watching all your vlogs 😂🤍
At what time you check fasting sugar in the morning..i dont have bedtime snack ..usually have dinner 8-8.30 ,my fasting sugar is high ..i check at around 7 am
I was diagnosed at 13 weeks a couple of weeks after i had to have gallbladder surgery for pancreatitis. So i don't know if this is coming from the pregnancy, the surgery, the pancreatitis, or a combo, but this sucks. I postprandial sugars were always fine, but my morning sugar wouldn't drop below 100, so i had to go on night-time insulin. 😞 this is my 4th pregnancy and I've never had GD before. Eating has become so stressful. I hate it. I hate food. The fact that my gallbladder is out and my pancreas is still really reactive makes eating even more difficult.
Thank you for making this video I had GD in my first pregnancy and just found out I had it again 😢 I really found it hard last time I had it couldn't find any information or how to eat. Thank you for sharing ❤
Thank you for the video! 27 weeks and waiting on a second test to discard or confirm gestational diabetes. I hope I don’t have it, but If I did, I want to be better informed about it
Thats so crazy. My doctors are wanting me to chevk my glucose a hour after i START eating... of course... like, i feel that is so wild...especially since its for 2 weeks and to SEE if i havw GD since i opted out of the 3 hr test. 😢
Thanks for sharing this! This needs to be more normalized!!! And I love to try that water bottle! Where I live, finding easy ways to filter water for my 1 year old is so time consuming and stressful. Having a bottle like that would give me such piece of mind. I’ll definitely have to try it! 🤍
Clean water to me means multiple different things: a water bottle that would create filtered and clean water would help me to drink more water! Which is huge. Overall for my health I want to give my body plenty of water, which I’m not always the best at doing. It also is incredibly important to me, even more so now, because I’m not only still nursing my 14 month old son, but I’m also pregnant in my first trimester too. It amazes me what our bodies are capable of. 😅 but I know I need to help nourish my body and give it the best possibility of keeping up with these two little lives I’m feeding/growing.
Clean water for my family means a lot . We’ve always had to use water bottles for cooking and drinking because we know how dirty the tap water is, we still don’t have no filter but still using water bottles
i see that you posted this a year ago but I was diagnosed with GD recently and (very frustrated) I was told that the one hour timer starts when you take you first bite of food not when you finish eating. i thought that was weird since people eat at different rates, so you could be taking your last bite of food 30 min before you test. Anyway I am wondering why you and I might have received different instructions on that. Your way seems the correct more logical way. I have received so much conflicting information on this its driving me insane. I just want to do whats right for me and baby but all this differing information is making that really hard.
Well what does this mean? Does this mean that I need more sugar or my body is making too much sugar because I'm one pills I haven't tooken them. I've just been watching what I eat. They are big and the last time I went to the doctor they wanted me to take two of them
I dont understand :/ In my country our minimum for empty stomach sugar is 5,3 and after 1 hour from the first bite below 7 need to be. But i see on your meter is 9+ ect. :/
Super nervous I also have gestational diabetes. Currently 36 weeks. I also just found out Friday I now have gestational high blood pressure. Luckily not preeclampsia yet. But they recommended being induced at 37 weeks I’m so nervous about the induction. As I’ve worked really hard with eating better and my sugar levels have been down and now…this pops up. I love how informative this video is especially since so many people think it’s their fault when it’s not.
Girl I’m so sorry, that’s so much stress and things to deal with. I hope whatever happens, both you and baby are healthy with little to no stress as possible. You got this 🤎
I need clean water as I am dietetic and I have liver cancer and lymph nodes cancer and kidney failure so need to drink plenty of water.I was supposed to be getting my kidney out in March but it has been cancelled due to the C 19 word.My husband is a care worker one off his client my husband has known him since they were baby and every Saturday Bobby who Tommy has been looking after him said Bobby goes walks on Saturday so he keeps his blood sugar low so he can get chicken supper from chip shop.I think my cancer is getting worse I feel like my body is giving up
clean water is important to me because it is what is best for my body! and i am very picky about the water i like haha! i would love to try a water bottle filter!
Oh my gosh! Thank GOD I found this. I also have a bachelors degree in dietetics. I am an avid fitness enthusiast, and just got this diagnosis. This video is EVERYTHING.
Eat lots of meat, eggs and cheese 😊 non root veggies and berries
For coffee if you add collagen and cream it helps keep blood sugar balanced because it’s protein and fat!
I just came cross with your video, it really motivates me with GD, I’m still struggling with hight fasting sugar levels. Today, i will try out bedtime snack, fingers cross this will helps me as well
Do you have a hair tutorial? I love how you curl your hair!!
Thank you so much for this! I was just diagnosed with GD and I’m so confused! Your tips helped me so much! ❤️❤️
i dont feel so alone now i feel alot better this is my first pregnancy
Hi!! You are the epic water giveaway winner!! I’d you could send me your email address I’ll get the information to get your bottle sent to you! 🤎
At what time you check fasting sugar in the morning..i dont have bedtime snack ..usually have dinner 8-8.30 ,my fasting sugar is high ..i check at around 7 am
How do you eat so little? Especially while pregnant
Another pregnant mom here! Clean water means a healthier baby
You are magnificent. I desperately needed this information. Thank you. Thank you, thank you. Thank you for sharing!!!🎉❤❤❤❤
ooh what flavor olipop is that? I have to try that combo with the heavy cream!
Did you do anything that helped lower your fasting number in the morning?
Thank you so much for this video! This is the first time I haven't felt more confused after looking for info!
I have only my morning fasting sugar high (106) had a terrible first trimester..im on 13 weeks +2 ..any advice about the morning fasting sugar?
Hi can you tell the brand name of the protein noodles that is safe to eat during pregnancy
I’m trying to get pregnant with my second and clean water is super important to me. Hoping to make a lot of healthier choices this go around. 😊
I hope I don’t have it, but If I did, I want to be better informed about it
Hi! Did you have any symptoms leading up to your GD test before the actual diagnosis?
The only symptom was I was SO tired after meals, and it felt like I had a thanksgiving meal every meal 🫠
Great video. So calming and informative at the same time. Would it be possible to do more meal plan ideas?? Thanks a ton ❤
I have type 1 and when I was pregnant I focused on foods that are low glycemic and pair carbs always with protein and fat!
Wow this is so helpful. Second time with GD and the walking tip is so helpful.
I have pcos my doctor said I was prone to it because of it...I'm definitely stressing. Its overwhelming because i already dont have an appetite
Such a helpful video! Thank you ❤
I hope Rocky feels better soon?
Get well soon Rocky.
You mentioned in the video you did something to get the baby's head down ? Can you please make a video on what you did
Just discovered yesterday I have it too. First time mom. Thank you for this video ❤️
Thats so crazy. My doctors are wanting me to chevk my glucose a hour after i START eating... of course... like, i feel that is so wild...especially since its for 2 weeks and to SEE if i havw GD since i opted out of the 3 hr test. 😢
Clean water is super important for me to keep my skin healthy!!! We are trying to switch from bottled water to filter!!
Thanks for sharing. I don’t have GD but you shared great snack and meal ideas for the family
So so so helpful thank you!!! 🙏🏻🩷
Thanks for sharing this! This needs to be more normalized!!! And I love to try that water bottle! Where I live, finding easy ways to filter water for my 1 year old is so time consuming and stressful. Having a bottle like that would give me such piece of mind. I’ll definitely have to try it! 🤍
Hey girl, when rearfacing the straps need to below or at his shoulders not above. Also you want to make sure his straps aren’t twisted. :)
I test my blood sugars after a eat anything including snacks.
Love this can’t with to do a video on how helpful your video was
What if you have low blood sugar?? I got my 10 week blood test results and my levels were low..scared me pretty bad! Makes me paranoid about GD.
Clean water for my family means a lot . We’ve always had to use water bottles for cooking and drinking because we know how dirty the tap water is, we still don’t have no filter but still using water bottles
In Australia they want your glucose to be less than 126 (
Oh my goodness, thank you so much for this video. Today has been a really tough day and this really helped.
Awh you’re so welcome. You got this 🤎
i see that you posted this a year ago but I was diagnosed with GD recently and (very frustrated) I was told that the one hour timer starts when you take you first bite of food not when you finish eating. i thought that was weird since people eat at different rates, so you could be taking your last bite of food 30 min before you test. Anyway I am wondering why you and I might have received different instructions on that. Your way seems the correct more logical way. I have received so much conflicting information on this its driving me insane. I just want to do whats right for me and baby but all this differing information is making that really hard.
Good morning! I hope you have a blessed day 💗😍🙏🙏🙏🙏 I love your content, you inspire me so much beautiful mama! You’re doing AMAZING 😻
Awh thank you so much!! 🤎🤎
Coming back to watch this 😩 diagnosed at 29 weeks with my second. Second time 😐. Not happy lol
Yes!! I used to walk in circles in my living room for 10/15 mins haha
Well what does this mean? Does this mean that I need more sugar or my body is making too much sugar because I'm one pills I haven't tooken them. I've just been watching what I eat. They are big and the last time I went to the doctor they wanted me to take two of them
Happy Lunar New Year weekend, Kilean!🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸
I dont understand :/ In my country our minimum for empty stomach sugar is 5,3 and after 1 hour from the first bite below 7 need to be. But i see on your meter is 9+ ect. :/
I have Gestational diabetes I’m 7 months pregnant 😢plz reply is it safe to my baby
Just found out at 8 weeks! It’s going to be a long road! But I’m thankful for your video.
I was 12 weeks. You got it! Im still insulin free but am struggling its long journey but weve got it
This was so so helpful. I wrote down so much. I was just diagnosed with GD and have an appointment with a specialist tomorrow
I’m so glad. You got this!! 🤎
You got this 🤎
super helpful, thank you so much!
Clean water is super important to me because I am still breastfeeding and want the best nutrients for my toddler!
WOW. Well, thanks for that explanation. I don’t have it but I sure came close.
awww baby girl’s face🥺🥺 such a special pint in pregnancy!!
It’s just so crazy that she’s in there! Pregnancy is wild 🥺
I was told not to eat any carbs for the first 2 meals .. even yogurt & never with granola. I am so scared
We did smoked sausage and sweet potatoes a lot when I was pregnant w GD
Oooh that sounds really good!! I need to cook with sausage more 😋
