      nash hey! So usually you won’t be put on insulin so you will only have to check 4 times a day which is much easier. Honestly I really think getting it forced me to be a lot healthier and I lost the baby weight so fast! I was 10 pounds lighter after my pregnancy then when I started! So crazy. Also I picked up some good eating habits along the way :) good luck to you!

    Very informative. Thank you for giving the max values along with yours. Fasting glucose below 60 will usually result in hypoglycemia symptoms. Have you had that occur in between meals or after a meal? Could symptoms of hypoglycemia occur at a level higher than 60 after a meal? For someone newly diagnosed with gestational diabetes who jumps right into a well controlled diet I would imagine there is an adjustment period.

    Hi there. This video helped me boost my morale. I was so upset at the thought of having to prick myself. I’m having trouble bringing my fasting sugar to below 95. Right now it’s around 99-100. Will they also advise me insulin shots or just some tablets? I’m still figuring out what to do in terms of food and how to get that sugar reading down 😞

    • @squishycheeks93
      @squishycheeks93 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Is the 95 in the morning? If it’s not, 100-130 is where they want you to be at one hour after each meal. Fasting blood sugar which would be your morning number should be below 90.

    I was diagnosed with Diabetes 4 months ago. I was taking metformin for those 4 months. And I’m not taking it anymore because my doctor said it’s normal now. I found out I’m 6 weeks pregnant and they told me to check it 4 times a day just to make sure it’s still normal. I’ve been checking it for only 2 days. But today it has been really low. When I woke up this morning it was 81 2 hours after breakfast 74 2 hours after lunch 88 and 2 hours after dinner 100.. and for dinner I ate tacos and cake lol so I now 100 Is too low. Do you think that’s normal? Or too low?

  • @coffeedrinker7575
    @coffeedrinker7575 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Why do you have to take insulin when your sugar is pretty much manageable ? Or is it that way coz you have insulin to help you out. Coz in my case, i was told to monitor my blod sugar for 3 straight days to which meal it usually spikes, but with my diet I have been able to keep my blood below 120.

    • @MamaJoandCo
      @MamaJoandCo  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Coffee Drinker my day sugars were always great. It was only my fasting morning sugar level that was high no matter what I ate the night before. That is why I took the insulin at night to control the morning sugar level :)

    Have you started doing the insulin shot right after you found out that you have gestational diabetes or how did you do it? After I did my glucose tolerance test, I've been asked by my doctor to go on a diet where to have 95mg/dL in the morning, 140 mg/dL an hour later after I had my meal and 120mg/dL after 2 hours and if my sugar was still high to go on insulin shots.

    • @MamaJoandCo
      @MamaJoandCo  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Andreea Coltuc Hi! So I was not on insulin at first but I was unable to get my fasting morning sugar level down no matter what I did. For that reason my doctor recommended the insulin at night to help with my morning sugar level.
